We thinks this is the best Publix we have ever been to. It's smallish, but it's got better quality products/inventory. We got some of our fave Public Fried chicken here & it's just as delicious as the Public fried chicken we get in Pirate'cola. Look, the last time I was at a Publix was in 2008. Back then I had a deli sandwich so good I still think about it to this day. So when I learned I would be very close to a Publix on this trip I was so insistent to go I think my friend thought I was a little nuts. When we arrived there was one person working, and making a sandwich for a lady waiting. The lady in front of us turned around and said "they are out of bread. All they have left are these little buns (they kind of looked like hot dog buns). But the worker said if i went to the bakery and got bread there he would make the sandwich with that". So thats what we did, we got a loaf of French bread and got him to cut it in half and make the sandwich that way. I was a little shocked at how small this deli area is. Last time I remember the location I went to had an absolutely massive counter with like a billion toppings to pick from. Maybe its just this location but I thought I would have more offerings than Subway at least. Anyway I ended up choosing the Chipotle Chicken with chipotle smoked gouda, lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo and banana peppers. It was good, but not like the experience I had back in the day nor did I think it measured up to Publix's legendary status of having the best deli sandwiches. I mean, they use Boar's Head which is the gold standard and its pretty hard to mess that up. While the store is clean and staff is friendly, it's like walking into a 1950s grocery store. Why is the produce hidden in the back? And the produce selection is awful. Not appealing at all. The bakery which Publix used to be known for was also kinda sad. Pretty good Publix location, better than some of the others in the area. Nice bakery and seafood selection. Store is configured a bit strangely with dairy being located in its own alcove at the back, but that'a a relatively minor detail. This location was across the street from my hotel on my recent visit to St. Pete. Easy access, had everything I was looking for, and speedy service at check out. Not much more you can ask from a grocery store, especially one that is designed in a touristy area so things are marked up as a result. We don't have the Publix chain in my hometown, but I'd compare it to a Kroger in terms of the breadth and depth of the selection of food and beverage items. read more

God bless Publix! This place is still absolutely crushing it with buffalo chicken tender subs. If you've never had one, please stop what you're doing and head there now. Our go to is the tenders smothered in buffalo sauce, with chipotle gouda cheese, blue cheese crumbles and a whole ton of veggies. You may come across a slow or grumpy deli employee but it is definitely worth the wait. read more

I live close so this is my most convenient Publix. I tend to only use it for mid-week shopping for items I don't want to wait to buy. For the longer weekly or bi-weekly big shopping day, I tend to go to Winn Dixie two miles north on Blind Pass Road as this Publix does run their pricing at tourist levels For example, things tourists buy a lot are noticeably higher; water, snacks, juice, sports drinks, etc. The rest is ever so slightly higher that if I can save $25 or $30 off my weekly bill I'll make the extra drive. Edit: I'm dropping to two stars as I've had enough of this Publix price gouging tourists (and locals) when an opportunity presents itself. For example, about a week before Cinco de Mayo, all the sudden there's a mountain of Mexican beer in the store, and, oh, imagine that, limes go from their normal price of four or five for a dollar to 75 cents each. Really?! They're still 5/$1 down the street at Winn Dixie, so I know it's not some magical lime shortage. Anyway, that being said, this Publix is not a remodeled Publix, so it's still rocking the 1980's floor and aisles but it's perfectly functional and honestly it will stink if and when they do choose to close it since that tends to take about a year and it will be a lot less convenient to not have a close one for last minute items. It has a full deli, bakery, butcher, produce and seafood section so you'll be able to find all you need. The people are always incredibly friendly and it's always clean. This location has a coin counting machine if you need to unload a bunch of change you have sitting around your house. The machine does, however, charge a 9% fee. A better option is at that same Winn Dixie two miles north. They have a Coinstar machine where you can turn your change into gift cards for many major retailers at no fee; this includes Amazon. They have upgraded the checkout lanes so you can see the prices of what you're buying on a monitor as they're scanned, and you can also plug in your phone number to retrieve coupons you've stored online. read more

Waited in the deli line for over half an hour. They are extremely slow! Took them 15 minutes to make one sandwich. I've never seen people move slower...absolutely ridiculous. I've been here at least a dozen times during all my trips down here over the years. The store has always been clean and has decent selection. Prices are comparable to the area despite being overrun with tourists like myself. Selection has always been good except a couple days ago where it looked like the effects of Covid with a lot of things missing. Overall I wish I had the store back home. Conveniently located for us on our recent field hockey trip, we actually got a bit of an attitude because we walked in at 9:50pm when they close at 10. My daughter and I pretty much ran through the store grabbing items we needed for the next few days. As usual, the fruit was great...though because we were so late they did have limited choices out. Sometimes you get an act of random kindness that you have to tell people about and so I want to tell you about Natalie who works at the Publix on Gulf Blvd. We are from PA and vacation on St Pete Beach not far from the Publix so we stock up on our first day in town. While we were selecting our groceries for the week my wife said that she couldn't find a sewing kit to repair some ripped pants. She saw Natalie stocking shelves and asked where she could find a sewing kit. Natalie said that the store doesn't sell them but that she has about five, that she bought personally, that she gives them, to customers who can't find sewing kits because she gets the request often. So she went away for about three minutes, came back with a sewing kit and gave it to my wife. She refused any offer for us to pay her back. I hope Publix appreciates employees like Natalie because she a "gem". read more

Really good food market, had everything we needed for a family with a 3-year- old and a lot of variety. However, the only reason I rate it low is because the Deli area was REALLY slow. It should not take 50+ minutes to make 2 subs, especially when there where multiple employees around. The employee that was taking our order had no idea what he was doing and was taking his sweet time. If your thinking of going, just go for groceries and not for the Deli. read more

I like this St Pete Beach Publix location. It's not he biggest or most well appointed Publix around, but it's great to be able to grab some berries, shampoo, razors, sunscreen or juice while spending a day at the beach. The employees are nice and the parking lot convenient. read more

I like shopping here. Prices are good and there is always an interesting crowd. The number of accents one can hear while wandering the isles is amazing (lot of tourists here). Staff is friendly and helpful. There are often specials (today I found 2 gallons of iced tea for the price of one) and sometimes even food samples are being given out. All in all a good place to shop and a good alternative source for food and drink (vs. eating out). read more

I ran in to get groceries and come back to find my car gone??? Some towing company that tows cars that belong to people who go to the beach has people in the lot that search for people parking there. I didn't even go to the beach!? I went in Publix and came out 25 minutes later to no car. Publix manager tells me "it's the towing company, not us. Nothing we can do." WHAT??? They have it on camera that I was in the store the entire time. Had to pay $170 to get my car back along with the $30 cab fare to get to the lot. We stopped in here s few times while we were on vacation for a weeks. I bought a few cases of beer. I thought the beer was a very good price on sale for $19.99 a case. The store was very clean and well organized. It's right on the main road in town so it's very easy for vacationers like myself to find. My family actually even stopped in before heading to our hotel. We are visiting and staying with friends in Tampa but we spend most of our time at St Pete Beach. We love the water and the beach because besides being beautiful it is not crowded and expensive like Clearwater Beach. We also frequent the local Publix where the staff is very friendly and helpful and the products are always fresh. I am going to have to remove a star based on the last few experiences at this Publix. Last night we were excited to grill out. Greenwise New York strips were on sale so we bought two. The sticker took up most of the package so it was hard to get a good look at the steaks. When we got home and cut in to them, there was fat throughout the entire steaks. How disappointing, especially for their more expensive brand. Those steaks should have never been brought out to the floor. Tonight we ordered subs online and my husband went to pick them up at the 8:15 promised time. When he went to get them they had not even begun to make the subs online resulting in another 15 minute wait. If we wanted to wait 30 minutes for a sub, we would have just gone there in the first place. I really think I'm done with this Publix. It's a shame because it's so close to my house, but I'll gladly go to another location that has better quality items and employees. read more

This is a "convenience" location. The selection of meats, produce, just about everything is not as vast as you'll find at your larger more inland locations. Prices are a touch higher to take advantage of the tourist crowd. Hey, it's an older supermarket on the beach. It hasn't been updated in accordance with most of the Publix line. If you're a resident, you know to drive to other supermarkets. If you're a tourist or a local in a pinch looking to pickup a handful of items, this is your spot. read more
