We've only been in there once for a quick perusal a few months ago and didn't realize they had a food counter. She told me they had pernil so off to Bravo we went. They have a lunch plate that came with rice, meat and another side. We both ordered the pernil with yellow rice and fried plantains or tostones. The pernil was flavorful BUT the skin wasn't crispy any longer. The yellow rice was plentiful and good...we were both amazed at how the server just kept piling rice in that container. The tostones were decent but we prefer fried sweet plantains. Lunch plate was just $8.99! What a value! We'll be back and perhaps try other entrees.

I was a butcher for fifteen years and know bad orders happen, but this is clearly intentional to boost the gross profit percent through deception and down right corrupt. I have also gone there five times for advertised bacon. out each time. I drove over ten miles each time. Very expensive for switch and bait. The mgr called me after I presented this complaint to the store and was very apologetic and promised they would have the roasts all of the next two days. Went back just after 3:00 the next day and they only had the vacuum bagged ribeyes for one dollar more. This guy never runs out of tricks to keep his profit above ad prices. This has much less labor involved because they only have to weigh and put out. The clerk acted like I was stupid for wanting an item after the butcher left at two. There were no stockers yet they had canned goods, bread, produce, drinks, etc. We ALWAYS had backup meat on racks in the back to keep the counter full. I worked several stores for three companies and we would have been fired for intentionally not having products this consistently. I was offered the sale price but it would have been 70 dollars for the whole ribeye! This has ruined my Christmas plans.

Super cheap, friendly employees, and whatever you order is going to be fresh, hot and delicious. The owners are Dominican but the food is a combinaton of Dominican, PuertoRican and Cuban. Cuban sandwich - awesome. Steak sandwich - awesome. Cuerito (crunchy greasy pork skin) - awesome. My favorite combinations: Steak and onions (bistec encebollado), yellow rice with pigeon peas (arroz con gandules), and yucca en escabechi (yucca with onions & peppers in warm vinaigrette). Or go full-blown PuertoRican and get Roast pork with mojo (pernil con mojito), yellow rice (arroz amarillo), stewed red beans with pumpkin (habichuelas rojas con calabaza), and sweet plantains (maduros). Another good one is Mofongo. This is a big ball of mashed garlic green plantains and you can top it off with your choice of meat. The best way to eat Mofongo is by topping it with a big ladle full of Carne Guisada (beef stew) or Bistec encebollado (Steak and onions - and ask them to scoop up the pan juices from the bottom to put on your mofongo too!). If you have never tried Latin food, or you have but were never really impressed by it, go here. If you are unfamiliar with the menu and don't know how to order, then try one of my recommendations. You can't go wrong.
