Our room looked nice: a huge jacuzzi tub in the corner (not in the bathroom). Quaint and beautifully decorated (old school inn vibe). BUT: A lot of things do not work. Air con does not work at all. Room got stuffy. Jacuzzi tub? Water is leaking into it from the faucet. In the bathroom there is no shower gel (they put lots of moisturizer, shampoo, etc). Must be an oversight by housekeeping. No in-room safe either. Windows can only open tiny bit (we needed to open windows for fresh air). Elevator so slow, glacial speed. Staircase was nowhere to be found! Several times we were in a hurry ... and the backlog was just crazy. Breakfast: why open the restaurant only at 8 am!? Too late for conferences. Slow service. Spotty too. They forgot our yoghurt parfait. Everything is slow here. If you stay here, better not be in a hurry. Nothing will get done in time. Breakfast itself is alright (see photos). My beau and I loved the open brunch table in the centre of the main dining area, where you can get endless servings of fruits including strawberries, pineapples, and dragonfruits!! We have never eaten dragonfruits for brunch at any hotel before! So exotic! We ate so many slices. Service was a collective team effort and everyone was welcoming, attentive and super friendly. I can tell that they all enjoyed working there from their seemingly genuine smiles and bubbly personalities! The food there was so good!! Everything was cooked to perfection! We had their prix Fixe Easter brunch special and it was worth every dollar!! What a beautiful way to celebrate both Easter and my beau's birthday!! The rooms are extremely warm and welcoming, there is also a beautiful indoor pool with a high cathedral ceiling. It actually felt like a trip to a museum with spectacular artwork and beautiful antique furniture. Much of the artwork has strong family ties and fabulous stories behind it. As stated, these gentlemen have thought about every detail down to slippers to fit you and robes to wear to the pool. The breakfast was far beyond my expectations, you order personally and it appears in the fridge. No sticky croissant and bear claws here. We loved the fact that breakfast was very personal rather than hanging out with Guy and Sue from Moncton around a big table There is also a grand property right on the creek although we were unable to explore thanks to the slush and mud. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We will definitely be back!

The rooms (with decks or patios) are generous, the beds are comfortable and the closed-in porch and living room is a great place to read the papers or meet up with friends. The hosts provide substantial information on restaurants and current things to do before or after the plays. We've stayed there twice recently, and brought friends who loved it as well, and wouldn't want to be anywhere else when we go to Stratford.

Our room faced the road and it felt like we were downtown Toronto. Besides the road noises, the beds were too short and rooms tiny with no space for even a table. The walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbors talk, cough, sneeze, snore, etc. like they're right next to you. Definitely not the Stratford experience we expected and we were glad to leave after four days.

This was our first stay together at a Bed and Breakfast and we were thrilled beyond all expectations. The property itself is a wonderfully cared for 1873 Victorian mansion. The interior is a pleasant balance of eclectic and period appropriate décor, with stunning wallpaper and interesting knick-knacks throughout the edifice. We stayed in La Grande Chambre, and were extremely pleased with the layout, which included a well-appointed bathroom, and a nicely sized makeup area. Moving into the main bedroom, we were delighted with the comfortable king-size bed, a nicely carved wardrobe and a multitude of shaded windows. Each morning greeted us with a new breakfast menu with a couple of delicious choices, preceded by a scrumptious appetizer. Each day's breakfast ended up being a fun and tasty treat. The location of the inn was another pleasant surprise, as it is situated minutes away from the downtown area, and close to the Stratford Festival theatres. The inn is also a few steps away from the wonderful walking paths along the Avon river. Fortuitously, the Stone Maiden is tucked far enough out of the way that we felt sheltered from the hustle and bustle, which comes with a tourist city. All in all, the inn and meals were absolutely spectacular, yet they paled in comparison to the geniality of our host. Upon meeting Tim, we could tell that this was a man who loved his job and took pride in not only the inn but also the hospitality he offered to each of his guests. Tim radiated positivity and exuded all the qualities of a true hotelier. Tim and Johanne turned a great stay into a perfect one. Not only will we be back to the Stone Maiden Inn on our next trip to Stratford, we will recommend it to any that are looking to visit. Beata and James

The house is impeccably decorated, with tons of books to read and spaces to sit outside and enjoy the gardens. Refrigerators for personal use. Rooms and beds are comfortable and many have private decks. Tea and cookies always available. The most wonderful thing is that a big thermos of coffee is brought up into hallway in early morning for self serve. How great is that? No getting dressed! Outstanding ample breakfast each day featuring top notch very fresh and innovative breakfast items. A station with granola, fresh breads, croissants, biscuits and homemade jams starts one off. Then a hot item of astonishing quality. Dietary restrictions accommodated. Cannot wait to return next year!

Normally, I am not…read moreinclined to opt for a B & B, but I am very pleased that I put aside my normal doubts and gave the Old Rectory a go. Making my arrangements to stay here was very easy. Kevin got back to me immediately and replied to my inquiry and we quickly and efficiently arranged everything. My friend and I arrived a bit earlier than we'd initially indicated, but both Kevin and Kim were welcoming and helpful. We were shown to a reasonable sized room on the second floor and all necessary amenities were explained to us. The decor of the place wasn't really my cup of tea, but the room was clean and cozy, so I can put aside my own personal aesthetic. The private bathroom was a decent size and well laid out. The bed was a wee bit smaller than I'd imagined, but it was very comfortable. My favourite part of my stay though hands down had to be my breakfast! Because Kevin and Kim knew we had an early start, they got breakfast going extra early for us. We started with freshly baked croissants, lemon poppy seed cake, and assorted fresh berries. DEELISH! Then we had poached eggs with hollandaise sauce with heirloom tomato on a wonderfully salty rosti. SO SO GOOD!!! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the splash of pesto on the tomato added a perfect kick. I was in heaven. I love coming to Stratford to see the theatre. Next year, I am totally coming back here, but I am going to make sure that I have dinner at the Old Rectory too!
