One of the highlights of our Easter weekend trip to Stratford was having a brunch and tour at the Bruce Hotel!! I totally did not expect this high quality in service and food. Beautiful decor! It is so elegant and heavenly white with classical or piano concerto playing in the background!! The dining area could not have been anymore romantic and intimate. My beau and I loved the open brunch table in the centre of the main dining area, where you can get endless servings of fruits including strawberries, pineapples, and dragonfruits!! We have never eaten dragonfruits for brunch at any hotel before! So exotic! We ate so many slices. Service was a collective team effort and everyone was welcoming, attentive and super friendly. I can tell that they all enjoyed working there from their seemingly genuine smiles and bubbly personalities! The food there was so good!! Everything was cooked to perfection! We had their prix Fixe Easter brunch special and it was worth every dollar!! What a beautiful way to celebrate both Easter and my beau's birthday!! My beau was so impressed and thankful of me for booking and paying for brunch here that he is planning to treat me here next year for his not so surprising proposal!!! When the staff knew of his plans, the receptionist immediately gave us a tour of their suites and amenities!! What excellent and attentive service!! I will definitely come back here in the near future for a couple retreat or weekend getaway!! Stratford is such a cute town with so many good restaurants and hotels open during their famous and busy Stratford Festival season, but this hotel and restaurant really stood out to the both of us!! 5/5 would highly recommend!! read more

Do you ever want a get away from the city, a romantic place to take your honey, but are sick of the same cookie-cutter choices: Niagara Falls, Prince Edward County, Niagara on the Lake - it's all been done before. When people think of Stratford, they think of the theatre festival that runs every year. But this hidden gem has a lot to offer other times of the year (and actually, this hotel is located three feet from the theatre should you choose to go during that time of year). I hate people, so I enjoy going during the off-season when it is a ghost town. This property is BEAUTIFUL. The suites are GIGANTIC, bigger than my place in Toronto. They each have their own little patio, so you can enjoy some outdoor space. The amenities are amazing - they give you every single thing you'd ever need. Beds are comfortable, rooms are quiet. The restaurant is on site and all the ingredients are from the surrounding area, so they are SO fresh and SO delicious. My recommendation is to go up late, eat dinner, dip in the hot tub, sleep in, and eat breakfast on site as well (breakfast may be better than dinner, if that's even possible.) Honestly, this is my favourite place to go to relax. I don't even want to tell you about it, but I'm feeling generous today. read more

This is our all time favorite hotel anywhere in the world! We'd give it 10 stars if we could. We've known Jennifer Birmingham from her first-class b&b. She spent years designing the hotel to her vision and a further approx 5 years for city approval. When you enter the lobby it feels like a traditional luxury hotel, though there are no others like this one. It is spacious, high ceilings. Comfortable chairs are freely available to sit, talk, sip a drink. The rooms are very big, who'd need a suite with rooms like these? The ceilings were approx 10=12 feet. The bathroom was large, my dream bathroom. The texture of the tiles were comfortable to my feet. The restaurant was excellent. The food did satisfied beyond our expectations. You really wanted to eat on the patio. It looks out over fields, no noise. If the evening was a little cool, they'd give you a blanket. It's small (25 rooms) but looks large because of the big rooms. Free parking. Much nicer and comfortable than modern luxury hotels. Everything is up to date. Service is fast, up close and personal. read more

Wow! What a fabulous place to stay while in Stratford. The food was wonderful and the service from everyone in the hotel was five star. Our room (suite) was bigger than my first apartment. Heck, the bathroom was bigger than my first apartment. We also had a lovely patio area to sit and enjoy the beautiful landscaping at the rear of the hotel. I won't stay anywhere else whenever we come here to catch some Theatre. read more

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend in mid August. First, the bad news: there are no cheap rooms here. Basically, if you stay at this hotel, you are getting what amounts to a suite and you are paying suite prices. However, we got what we paid for and more. The hotel far exceeded our expectations. This place is sparkling clean. It is so clean you feel they must have cut the ribbon the day before. Everything from the fresh flowers in your room, to the homemade cookies in the kitchens on each floor, is just so - no detail is left to chance. My wife and I swam in the resplendent indoor pool, which was small, but felt like our own private spa since we were the only ones there. Like everything else in the hotel, the facility felt as if we were the first people to ever use it. The service was impeccable - the bellhop in particular went above and beyond the call of duty, practically giving us a personal tour of the hotel. Even the food in the restaurant (we had brunch) was excellent. I suspect my wife and I will be making The Bruce an annual anniversary tradition. We will probably book a play while we are in Stratford, but the real reason we are going will be for the hotel. read more

Ok so TWICE i have tried to get in the dinning room to eat meal with four other members of my family.... and they took 25 minutes to come back to us saying that it take some time to set up a table. Ok 15 later i have to talk to the cheif.. okay screw this we left. This hotel is worth a visit. They offer a high level of service & the rooms are very luxurious, each offering private patios. They have a gym that is exceptionally well equipped and spacious. With a 5 minute walk to the Festival Theatre it could not be more conveniently situated. This place has the feel of being a guest in a manor house. We just spent our second year here & won't ever go anywhere else. read more

Beautiful addition to Stratford area. Upscale yet personable. Rooms and turn down service impeccable. Treated with fresh flowers and a fruit bowl upon arrival. Our entire family loved this place and can't wait to come back. My easily excited daughter exclaimed that we were staying in a castle when we arrived. Perhaps not, but it is an extremely comfortable hotel. The decor is slightly corporate, but they try to personalize it. Each room has a decorative tile mosaic strip in the bathroom that is unique to that room, and relates to the Shakespeare character for whom the room is named. The giant sugar cookies rolled up like fortune cookies that they leave on your bed at turndown have quotes from Shakespeare's plays inside. The cookies are delicious, with a delicate lemon flavor. They also leave complimentary French press coffee and/or Tazo tea outside your door in the morning if you would like it. That's in addition to having a coffeemaker in your room. They have a take a book/leave a book lending library, and a set of Shakespeare's works in case you want to look something up, or need a book. They have badminton and bocce available. The breakfast was fantastic, especially their house made sausage. Our only small quibbles were that the bottomless cookie jar in the pantries on each floor were more often the empty cookie jars, and that a sofa hide-a-bed was about as comfortable as they generally are. Still our bed was very comfortable, and the kids are begging to go back despite the bed, so we will stay here again. read more
