This is a review of the historical significance of the school building. Deerfield Beach Elementary…read moreis the second oldest school in Deerfield Beach and it is still in use. It is the second oldest operating school in Broward County. Another school was built in Deerfield Beach in 1920 but it was quickly outgrown which necessitated the building of a new school. The 1920 school is managed as a museum by the Deerfield Beach Historical Society. This two story L shaped masonry school in the Mediterranean Revival style was designed by the architectural firm of Thomas D. McLaughlin and Associates. McLaughlin was one of the Florida land boom architects. The school board purchased a parcel of land for $21,000. The Alfred W. Kimmel Company of Pompano Beach built the school in 1927 for a cost of $55,000. The school was designed to educate 1st through 8th grade with the students going on to Pompano beach for high school. The school was added to the National Register of historic Places in 1990. Architecture features of the school include arched walkways, terrazzo floors, Spanish terracotta barrel tiles, and a bell tower with Corinthian columns. There is a one and a half story auditorium wing that seats 277 people. When I went by it looked the building from 1927 was no longer in use. A more modern school has been built directly behind the historic building. I spoke to a friend who works at the school who told me that there is asbestos and mold damage in the 1927 building so it is empty. It's such a shame that it has deteriorated. The school has a legacy of having educated thousands of students.

When they had a Hands, Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak parents were not informed until it was already contracted by many kids. Right before we pulled our son out the had a teacher that struck a child and once informed they still allowed the teacher to work and later, wrote up and fired the teacher that informed them. Please look into the schools before you send your kids here, I would highly not recommend the school. They are very unprofessional and do not have the children best interests at heart.

School Review This…read moredaycare is extremely unprofessional! There have been many incidents in which they have failed to tell me when my son was injured. One extreme example was when my son was sent home limping, and when brought to the Emergency Room, I was told he had a sprained knee. When brought to the school's attention, they couldn't tell me when, where, or how it happened or even noticed that he was limping. Another incident that occurred was that my son came home with many scratches and marks, and nobody knows how, nor was I contacted. My son is also always having to go to the doctor due to being sick. He has many times had other children's sippy cups in his mouth and even once was sent home with somebody else's bottle. They recently had a hands, feet, and mouth breakout in which they did not inform the parents until 15 children had passed and received it. Due to my son contracting hands, feet, and mouth, I had to miss a week's worth of work, as well as my son was not able to go in. The daycare wanted me to still pay the full amount for him missing. The most concerning incident that has recently occurred is that we had found out that a teacher struck a child, and when the school was informed, the school still allowed the teacher to be present while they investigated, even though they have cameras and there should be no excuse. When the teacher that informed the school returned to work, she was written up and a few days later fired. My son has picked up the behavior of biting and hitting since starting at the daycare.

They were welcomed with open arms by the staff and children. We have been going to St Ambrose for 15 years. As defined by the St Ambrose handbook, my child was harassed and bullied by a student and his parent who volunteers at the school for over a year. In addition, the same volunteer parent spread vicious, disgusting lies about our family throughout the school and during school functions which principal dodge admitted to hearing herself, but did nothing about and claimed it was "not in the schools purview". After documenting each incident with principal dodge, she lied about her ability to act on them, mischaracterized them and did nothing to solve the problem. Once principal dodge was caught lying and her integrity was under attack, she withdrew our daughter from the school during the Christmas vacation. My daughter had no disciplinary issues, was no threat to the school and posed no danger, yet was thrown out of St Ambrose hastily, separated from friends she has had most of her life, teachers she adored and resulted in a major disruption in her education. I feel that what principal dodge did was disgraceful and cowardly. Five months after we moved on, the volunteer parent who harassed our daughter appears to be stalking our daughter on social media. In my opinion, this school and principal dodge are more concerned with their personal reputation and will sacrifice the education, safety, and wellbeing of the students to protect themselves.

(THEY KEEP DELETING MY REVIEW) DO NOT SEND YOU KID HERE!!…read morethis school gave my child trauma due to the bullying by staff and children. My child would be bullied by specifically the principal and vice principal, there was favoritism and racism. They treated brown and black children like they were a problem. They didn't even an official school nurse the vice principal was a nurse, and they have no medical training whatsoever. The school lunch prices are very unfair and if your child did not bring any type of lunch, they would let them sit there and starve for the day. The academics are very behind and did not prepare my child for high school or any type of other school. They gave unfair detentions, and THEY DONT EVEN LET PARENTS SEE CAMERA FOOTAGE, that's suspicious... I do not recommend this school the bullying, the racism, the untrained staff, the unorganized staff and much more. Please consider other schools. They would be better than this one.
