Having Hukilau Marketplace is a welcomed addition with many eateries and boutique stores. This place is connected with the Polynesian Cultural Center. There's plenty of parking. This is a newer place (opened in 2015). It has a vintage, casual, outdoor marketplace vibe, but everything is clean, open, and spacious. There are many unique eateries and stores that you can only find here, such as Kiwi Style Fish and Chips, Sodabomb, Kiwi Korner meat pies, and etc. Hukilau Marketplace is defintely a very nice pit stop from your drive to refresh and grab a bite to eat.

Here, we learned how to make a braided haku (head lei). Little did we know, braiding is the harder one of the two types to make, but we got the hang of it thanks to Patricia, a former world-traveling Polynesian dancer who's been making them for 35+ years. My husband has never braided anything before, and he did an amazing job for his first time! His braids were even tighter than mine! We visited a second time just two days later when we came back for the PCC's luau. I purchased 3 sarongs and a mother of pearl brooch/clip that adds a bit of decor when wrapping. The gentleman who took care of us was great however, the following night when I removed the tape I realized my ring had an imperfection. I went back to the shop and Giselle and Haley were working. They took the absolute best care of me. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was taken care of. The setting was the last one and had been discontinued however they showed me another that was almost identical that I ended up liking even more! They also cleaned the pearl after they noticed there was some glue residue left on it. While Haley was setting the pearl in the new setting Giselle was kind enough to offer to clean up my wedding ring that was dirty and full of sand. They went above and beyond that evening! They were kind, energetic, knowledable and overall provided the best customer service. I even went home and raved to my family how fabulous these two ladies were and the service they provided me!
