Came here for a late dinner on a Friday night in early February. ALL the restaurants in Davos were packed, and this was the only place that could fit our large group at a moment's notice. Perhaps because it's part of a hotel.
We had to leave our coats in an adjoining coat room outside the restaurant to minimize the cheese fondue stench permeation. A group of guys at the next table were living it up with fondue chinoise (Swiss hot pot) and copious amounts of alcomohol.
The restaurant gave us a starter of a small yellow jelly-like substance topped with purple bean sprouts. It was a bit fishy, and my group debated whether it was actually tasty or not.
One nice thing about this restaurant was that just when I thought I had already eaten all there is to Swiss cuisine, I found a traditional food from the Graubünden canton on the menu--capuns--yay! The plate looked a bit small at first, but it was actually really dense and quite heavy, smothered in a creamy cheese sauce. It kind of tasted like giant gnocchi-filled grape leaves.
Total price for dinner which included little cookies for dessert and a glass of Panasch (beer with soda) came out to CHF 30.
Later, we went clubbing at Caprizzi and then had difficulty snagging what seemed like the only taxi in Davos back to our hotel. So we walked back to this hotel, and the front desk staff was kind enough to ring up a taxi for us. Bonus points for service. :) read more
