I drop my dogs off at daycare twice a week and they love it here! They provide dailypup dates with updates on how your pet is doing throughout the day. They put up photos of your babies having fun and a little report card at the end on how they did and who they played with the most. Pricing is reasonable and staff is very friendly. The online portal is user friendly and easy to see your account. I appreciate being able to drop my girls off at daycare because I know they are in great hands while mom is off working! It's extremely obnoxious to try and rectify this after I sent proof (pics) that Mary texted on her cell phone for half of the visit when she was supposed to provide "play time". I never said anything about you, that your visit was bad. But it was AFTER I complained and AFTER Chad asked me to submit pictures to prove what I say was true. He never apologized to me! He praised Mary during the whole email! Here, since we are attaching emails, let me know when you see the word "sorry" in Chad's email. And all that BS that he was the one texting her?! Please.. how abt a quick phone call if he wanted to tell her something important? If she was typing abt the visit, that's to be done AFTER the visit. Not DURING. When I'm paying for "play time"!!! P.S Chad, 1st, I never said Mary sat in a chair the Entire Visit. Please, I implore you to actually read my first review, don't put words in my mouth. 2nd, if I'm sending you 2 pics taken 6min apart where the pet sitter is sitting on a chair texting, that's pretty self explanatory. Jan 9 I canceled my (very short) relationship with Pumkin Paws. I do not recommend them. Their first dog walker, Mary, was good with my two pups, but was over-scheduled midday. I asked for a 10:00am walk and a 3:00pm walk on December 18, 19, and 20. The last day she walked for us, she arrived at 9:40am and 4:00pm. The Pumkin Paws contract states that there is a two hour window for each walk so if your pups need to pee by a certain time of day, this can get tricky. I like Mary, though. If Mary became an independent dog walker, I would hire her. I asked Leslie (the co-owner) if it would be okay if I scheduled walks closer to midday instead. She approved and assigned me Lara. I met Lara Saturday, Jan. 6 at 2pm. During our visit she mentioned that she read my Pet Check notes about my dogs. Direct quote: "Do not leave bowls on floor because 'Mr. Chompers' will eat them and get sick." The bulk of our Saturday meet and greet was about Mr. Chomper's pica issues. I showed Lara damage in our apartment (chewed moulding and doors) and mentioned that Mr. Chompers had eaten an entire leash among other things. I mentioned that he has required veterinary attention on multiple occasions because of his habit of eating inappropriate things. I mentioned that he might develop sepsis/require surgery if he ate the wrong thing. I showed Lara that my home is gated and that I keep the floors clear to protect my pet from his bad habit. Because Lara did not take notes, I texted her a reminder the morning of her first visit to our home. At 9:19am on January 8th, I texted: "I left food and water outside the front door. The tupperwares might spill if you tilt them. Hang everything back on the front door afterwards so Mr. Chompers doesn't eat anything. Thanks!" So... on three different occasions I asked Lara to keep the floor clear so my pet would not eat anything that would make him sick. I assume Lara saw my text reminder because she was responding to me throughout the day. After she came for the first walk, I wrote (at 11:58am): "I hope they are being sweet," to which she replied "They r fine they're (sic) leashes a (sic?) muzzles are annoying tho lol" Urrmmm. Okay. Sorry my Gentle Leader nose loop vexes you. All sarcasm aside, it was surprising to me that she had difficultly with it; it puts less stress on the neck and is more humane. A dog walker should know what it is. It's not an exotic piece of equipment. I should mention that I have a Petcube Bites. It's a camera with audio capabilities that loads time-stamped videos to my phone. It's quite tall and heavy and stands in a very noticeable location in the middle of my hallway (this figures into my story later). Lara's next visit started at 4:00pm and ended around 4:40pm. At that time, my PetCube stream indicated that my two dogs were sitting on their cot next to an abandoned green tupperware container and a plastic bag on the floor. There was a second plastic bag hung on the inner doorknob within reach of my dogs. See corresponding photo. As soon as I see there are items on my floor, I immediately leave work early to try and prevent my dogs from eating them. Me at 4:42pm to Lara: "I can see a tupperware container on the floor--always pick those up before you leave. Mr. Chompers chews and swallows plastic bags, tupperware, etc., so I don't want those things on the floor when the dogs are unattended. Could cost me thousands if we have to pay for a surgery for him." Lara: "Ok ill (sic) go pick it up" Lara returned to our apartment (4:50pm). What I notice next on my Petcube feed is a video of Lara's winter boot sliding towards my Petcube. My camera is slowly being turned sideways. Ack! Lara is pushing my pet cam with her boot so I can no longer view my dogs/see if they are eating any of the items Lara left on the floor. Note: The Petcube Bites is over a foot tall with a weighted bottom and pulsing blue light. It is not the sort of item one could accidentally move. Also, it was positioned behind a gate so Lara had to unlock the gate to make it dance with her foot. (?!) So... I have no idea what happens next because my camera is now pointed away from my dogs and away from Lara's hallway garbage party. When I returned home, some of the items Lara left on the floor were missing. Did Mr. Chompers eat anything? Who knows? Jan 9: Chad and Leslie have met my polite efforts to address Lara's carelessness with hostility. They did not ask me if he was okay. They did not apologize for Lara ignoring my instructions. I shared the video of her moving the cam. They seemed defensive and blame-y. They refused to mail me my keys on January 8 after I canceled their service. They asked me to come to their office midday on Jan 9 and sign some kind of document in-person only. My job should be abandoned even though their walker ignored my instructions and and moved my cam. Ooookay. Hopefully, I get my keys. Avoid Pumkin Paws. Rude. Weird. Not quality. read more

We have used a few different dog care services in the area and Pumkin Paws has been the best by far. You can tell that the owners, Chad and Leslie, genuinely care about you and your pets. They are incredibly flexible with scheduling and provide everything from short relief walks to overnight in-home stays. They put a lot of attention into hiring the right people and assigning the right walker for your dog. After our first walker with them moved away, Chad was unsure if he had the right person to take over walking our large dogs, so instead he came and walked them himself until he hired the right person. Love that. For me, I always feel at ease knowing they are taken care of properly. I like that they will over-communicate with me if I ask them to (which I do), and they never make me feel like an annoying and nervous customer (which I am). I can't recommend them enough! read more

I really liked Pumkin Paws at first, but their customer service turned out to be truly awful. My dog was scheduled for surgery on his leg, so I told the service to monitor his walks and keep them to 5 minutes and spend the rest of the time indoors. My dog's walker took him out for 30 minutes, directly going against what I had specified. This is also not the first time she had been reckless with Rico, having been 30 minutes to our first meeting with no warning, and having missed a walk with Rico entirely. When I confronted the people who run the business, I was told that I could not speak to them on the phone and could only communicate by email (which I found surprising and unprofessional, as we had spoken on the phone before). Over email, I got snarky email after snarky email saying refusing to admit any fault. I had to produce evidence to them of their own email saying they understood my dog's limitations AND I had evidence in my texts that his walker had disregarded (or had not been told in the first place) about the shorter outside time. Even then, no real apology was granted. It should never have come to that much back and forth. A simple apology and an attempt to do better would have sufficed. I really did not appreciate the rudeness and accusations being thrown my way. I left Pumkin Paws because I did not feel my dog was safe with them, and I really did not appreciate how I was spoken to, especially when I was in the right. read more

I cannot say enough great things about pumpkin thus far! I utilize the Monday through Friday service two times a day for my puppy and is has been fantastic! Rebekah is so sweet and my puppy loves her! My puppy actually is potty trained after just a short two months! The prices are great, I love how I get email notifications after my walk, and customer service is top notch. So many issues, but the biggest ones: showed up almost 2 hours late, cut walk short, and zero customer service. Had high hopes based on referrals from neighbors, but ultimately let down. And they didn't even seem to care. I should've read the other poor customer service yelp reviews before I booked. Previously we've taken our cat Chloe out of our home into a pet sitters house, which she did not like at all, starting with the car ride and never getting used to being in a new environment. It was stressful for her and me! I was put at ease knowing that Pumkin paws offered in home visits and the pet check app. Our sitter Catherine was kind and patient with Chloe, playing with her and sending us updates each visit. Having a wedding and being on our honeymoon, that last thing we wanted was to worry about her back at home, but I could honestly say this was the first time I was not as anxious about leaving her and was relieved to know she was comfortable in her own space. I have been a client of Pumpkin Paws Pet Service since 2012 and my experience with the whole team has been top notch! I am very particular about everything when it comes to my baby girl, Izzy and Pumkin Paws has done everything in their power to make sure she is taken care of no matter what the circumstances. They have seen her through recovery after surgery, conditioned her properly when she needed to lose weight and watched her grow older/slower over the past 4 yrs. As they have said, every day has been an adventure with Izzy, you never know what you are walking into. They have adjusted to her different habits/moods with nothing but humor, excitement and curiosity. Each walker has catered to her needs, whether they filled in once/twice or walked her 2x daily for the last few years. I think the biggest thing contributing to the success of Pumkin Paws is their thorough screening of employees. Every walker Izzy has encountered has genuinely loved animals to a different degree than the norm and has cared for each pet as if it were their own. Although, I have never had any problems with the service I feel that if I had a concern I could talk through it with Leslie and we together would come up with a solution. Amazing business, can't recommend PP enough. What makes a service like this good? In no order: 1) Attention to detail, 2) Organization, and 3) Attentiveness. Solid marks on all these categories. PP has been walking our puppy since we got him back in April. Hundreds of walks later, we remain extremely happy customers. Reasons why you should use PP (sorry I like lists): 1) Small army of very professional / passion walkers including the owners themselves. We work far away from home, and PP is great because they have many contingency plans (or people) if a walker is off/ sick etc. Our pup has the benefit of having the same walker everyday BUT with the peace of mind of knowing they have backup. 2) Very attentive and flexible. Need a walk at 11PM on a Saturday? PP will make sure a trusted walker will come into your house and take care of your dog. They also offer a bevy of options ranging from a quick 10 minute walk for your puppy to a 45 minute play session with another dog. 3) Their app makes scheduling / feedback / billing easy I cant recommend them enough. We moved to Riverdale almost six months ago, happy to leave our Brooklyn dog walking service behind, and because of our past experience, hesitant of any new service. We honestly couldn't have landed better than becoming clients of Pumkin Paws. Each day I know our dog is being cared for by a caring walker and our home is in good hands. Leslie and Chad run their dog walking service with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. They are responsive to questions and service changes/updates. The walker we were assigned, Nilda, has been wonderful with our dog - she loves her walks!. Nilda has been 100% reliable and dependable, and has gone above-and-beyond so many times I have lost count. We love the tracking service for the walks and can see each day what route they took and how long the walk lasted. With other services, the walker may have 'showed up', but you have no idea if they actually completed the walk. Not with Pumkin Paws - you get immediately notification each day when the walk starts and ends, and GPS markers of where they went . It is nerve wracking to leave your home and your beloved 'fur baby' in someone else's hands each day. I found Pumkin Paws after I adopted my dog Ruthie in March. After speaking with Chad and Leslie my anxieties about leaving my new pup at daycare were squashed. They are so professional, knowledgeable and overall wonderful people. You can really tell they care about their business and about the animals they take care of every day. They just opened a new day care facility in Riverdale. The space is really big with two sectioned off areas for the dogs to play. I bring my dog a few days a week using my "full day" package and she comes home happy and tired from a long day of play. Chad, Leslie, and the Pumkin Paws staff make it incredibly easy to schedule day care reservations, pick up and drop off times. Which makes getting to work on time super convenient. My favorite thing that Pumkin Paws offers is the Daily Pupdate. Where they email you after you've checked out for the day giving you a brief synopsis about what your dog was up to while in their care. They even attached pictures and videos to the Pupdate. This review is for the doggy daycare. My 9-month-old pup Willa had been to a few doggy daycare facilities and none of them seemed like the right fit. She would mostly sit and observe, and not really play with the other dogs. Once we found Pumkin Paws, though, Willa met her daycare match! She's been attending Pumkin Paws since they opened in early March. Not only does Willa LOVE all of the doggy clients here (she has a bff "pack" now), but the owners and staff are all so professional, personable, and lovely. They give the dogs so much hands-on care and are incredibly accommodating. I always look forward to their end-of-day "pupdates," which include pictures and video of my girl having a blast! I live in DC and will be returning there with Willa in a few weeks, and I know it will be terribly hard to find a comparable daycare environment! We will visit Pumkin Paws whenever we are back in town, though. read more

This was our first time hiring a pet sitter service (cat). We had Leslie the first time; Sandra-the second. Both were very nice women, our cat seemed to like them a lot. I had issue with the communication and billing - first time around our cat got fed extra food almost every day although I specifically mentioned (in person as well as in my email) that extra food should be given only if her automatic feeder isn't working for some reason. The the PetCheck Technology they use...It's supposed to track when the pet sitter gets to ur place and then leaves, among other things (the scan code is placed in ur house). So, in our case, the scans were earlier/later of the arrival/departure, so obviously wasnt left in the house...i didn't really see the point (we also got security cameras with the Manything app in our place, so ..). Second time we hired them we had Sandra-she was great and followed all instructions I gave her. I was sent incorrect billing though! Leslie fixed it after emailing several times. Btw, for a holiday weekend the charge is regular day charge+$7 for weekend+10 for holiday, so in our case ended up $30+ for a 5-10min visit (i guess that's normal). Speaking of length of the visits, cat visits are shorter than normal visits cause many cats apparently don't like much attention. That's reasonable but not sure they should be charging the same amount as for the 20min visits. Besides that, Pumkin Paws are pretty good. read more

Having recently moved here from California, I didn't know where to start with finding a pet care provider. I found Pumkin Paws by hitting the streets, literally! Pumkin Paws was highly recommended by a fellow pet parent at Setan Park. Initially, I was nervous to introduce Gizmo to a new caregiver after moving but I loved the added measure of a meet and greet with Gizmo's new walker. The sign up process was quick and easy and I love having the ability to keep an eye on Gizmo throughout his walks. The owners were excellent with guiding me through the process and have been available for my many follow up questions (this technology is new to me but now I can't imagine pet care without it). Leslie is very prompt, professional and does her best to get to know you and your pet. She connected us with a host family for walking and boarding our dog this past week and they were wonderful as well. They sent us updates, pictures and were very accommodating-they even picked up and dropped off our dog and all of his belongings at our place at the beginning and end of the weekend that they boarded him at their house. Thank goodness for Pumpkin Paws! When my husband and I need to travel, we feel confident that PP will take very good care of our little elderly cat. Our cat is not an easy cat - he is pretty old and has many health issues, notably a chronic upset tummy and is a terrible fussy eater. We request that Mary come to our apartment twice per day to feed/water/clean the box/keep our cat company. We recieve email alerts when Mary arrives and when she leaves. We are 100% confident that Mary is up to the challenge and it gives us great peace of mind to know he will be very well cared for whilst we are away.
