The dog walkers she sent were fine but I cannot recommend this business because the owner is crazy. She doesn't except cash credit or check - only PayPal and she bugged me and bugged me about it - and then drop me because I didn't want to pay with PayPal. When was cash not used anymore? I guess she fired me because I didn't want to do the PayPal thing and I wasn't going to give her a bad review but then she got very petty and wouldn't send me back my keys which I think is just awful. I said Would mail the next day, which I did, but she couldn't resist sending me a text nudging me about whether I had. First, I never thought I would be one of *THOSE* people who had a dog walker, but I work sometimes unpredictable hours. I wanted to give my 4-year-old Shiba some regularity to his routine, in addition to our morning and evening marathons together. A friend referred me to Rachel and they started the walks right away. I've had trouble finding people to service Harlem, but Rachel's company does. She said she was pregnant so couldn't change litter boxes but that Michael would sit for Moxie while I was away. Both Rachel and Michael came to my house the weekend before my trip to give them my keys, meet Moxie, and get some directions about what I needed done. I found Rachel's Pet Care because we had a terrible experience with a dog walker who was not coming to walk our dogs as agreed upon (a dog owner's worst nightmare!) We needed to find a walker rather immediately, and Rachel was so amazing. She met us on a Sunday, with two potential dog walkers en tow. They were all so amazing. Rachel asked questions that made her seem like an actual business owner, rather than someone who liked dogs and just decided to walk dogs. She's very thoughtful, intelligent, and its evident that she loves animals. Blaze and Steph were the two employees that she brought with her and I can't speak highly enough of each of them. Throughout the last 8-9 months, they have been nothing but PERFECTION! Steph & Blaze send me the cutest photos of them during their walks. ON TOP OF HOW AMAZING THEY ARE....one of my dogs (who happens to be 75 lbs and happens to live in a brownstone with tons of stairs) had ACL surgery which requires him to not go up/down stairs. Blaze, for the last 6 weeks, Mon-Fri, carries my dog down the stairs to go outside and then carries him back up the stairs. There are no higher praise I can give to someone than to allow them to such access to my children. I've also used Rachel's PC when we take vacations and I never felt guilty about leaving them for a second. Blaze, Steph and Rachel are like an extension of my family. If you are looking for the best, most loving care for your babies, you shouldn't waste your time worrying about if your babies are being cared for properly. We have a 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier/ boxer mix named Gatsby that is about 55lbs, and Rachel has been walking him since he was 6 months old. I am new to the area and I was looking for last minute pet sitting for my elderly dog. Rachel was super helpful and one of her dog sitters, Nathaniel, took care of my furry baby for three days. Nathaniel was awesome and and super observant. He texted me when he had questions and his questions helped me to know how observant and in tune he was with my dog. Rachel's best efforts set our dog back seriously and exacerbated some bad behaviors that we the owners had been working on for months. She left our dog alone with one other dog the first night with our knowledge for over 3 hours. We thought Herschel would be alright in the company of another dog. Clearly he was not. She subsequently reported that during her other absences the neighbors were saying Herschel seemed to be trying to knock down the bedroom door. Was the dog locked in the bedroom? She subsequently complained frequently about his behavior, particularly his barking, but made no effort to provide adequate supervision for our very stressed out dog. Rachel stayed in touch during our absence, and was dedicated to keeping our dog when we asked if we should make other arrangements during our absence. Still her efforts were counterproductive as evidenced by his subsequent extreme anxiety and behavior. read more
