We are in town overnight and met up with some in town family here. It was a busy night in the downtown, so maybe that had something to do with how it went. The restaurant was really loud. We did sit upstairs where it was a bit quieter. Our server seemed baffled by our beer orders and didn't know what was on tap. We waited a length of time to have her come and take our food orders and even longer for it to arrive. When it came, everything was either luke warm or cold. It did, however, taste just fine. The server that brought our food didn't smile or speak loud enough to be heard. It wasn't like it was bad....it just wasn't great. read more

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I was in town for a group event and we went here on a Friday night. The waitress was wonderful but the food was mostly cold when it arrived at our table. We were there for more than 2 hours and some of our group never got their food. Many of the people who did get served were given the wrong order. The manager seemed to be quite indifferent to the difficulties our group of 25-30 experienced and never even came to apologize or explain why things were so disorganized. I absolutely love this place! Great place to take the family. Meet up for girls night or catch up with friends. There menu is still scanning a qr for their food and bar menu from covid. And it is a sports bar so there is a tv at every booth. I am slightly sad that their gluten free menu is under construction at the moment and no one could help me out because I wanted to try something new. But I have been here before so I just had to ask a few questions to the waitor. Joey was very helpful but seemed slightly overwhelmed when I started asking questions based on food allergies. It was also quite busy considering we walked in a little before 8pm on Saturday so maybe that was part of it. If you have never been upstairs I highly reccomend doing so. It is slightly quieter then the main floor and they do have a billard table if you enjoy that. I was however frustrated that the 2nd floor bathrooms were locked and I could not get help to get the bathroom unlocked. They have a seperate fryer, gf buns, and gf chicken wings. I love being able to find a place that has so many options. My sister and I had the chicken philly sandwich on a gluten free bun, no cheese or aioli because we are allergic to gluten and dairy. We both ordered our sandwiches with a side of fries. The bun was very dry, more so then usual. Normally it is flavorful and soft. Neat little bar/restaurant located on Main Street. As it's on Main, be aware that it comes with the standard annoyances of downtown parking. It's usually pretty easy to find a parking spot on the side streets, though, so if you're having issues getting a spot driving down Main, just pull off one of the side streets for less than a block's walk. I enjoyed the atmosphere here at the Pump Haus. Even when pretty crowded (almost all of the booths were filled and the entire bar was filled), the location only has a mild noise level. It was still very easy to hear the people I was talking to across the booth table, and it didn't feel like I had to yell. I'm glad to see that the patrons seem to enjoy their alcohol and company without the screaming and loud music that can occasionally occupy bars. I enjoyed the fact that every individual booth had its own small television. You can control the power (if you'd rather it be off) as well as the channels. The Pump Haus seems to subscribe to quite a few of the athletic game channels, so you'll probably be able to pick up what you want to watch - or just cartoons. Whatever you want. The service was okay here. The server was friendly - it just seemed that she was a bit busy. On multiple occasions, we had empty drinks that were waiting for refills, but she hadn't checked in yet. When we went to use a coupon from our phone, she took the phone along with the check and credit card out of sight - which made me extremely uncomfortable. Food itself was okay. Seems like the value really depends on what you order. The Wings seemed like a fantastic value while the pretzel bites (at nearly $7 for what you get for $2 at a pretzel stand) seemed like a rip-off. The Chicken Sandwich was just so-so while everyone at the table really loved their Brew City Beer-Battered Fries. I wouldn't order the Pretzel Bites again (I'd say they were probably below-average in pretzel terms), but their French Fries were good. The person that got their Wings really liked them but wouldn't call them "Jumbo". I'm glad to see that the Pump Haus uses healthier oil versions for their food - it made me feel better about some of their food. If you're looking for healthier foods, ask for their Blue Zones menu. It's not delivered by default, but this mini menu offers Blue Zones certified (healthier-focused meals) options like BZ Grilled Chicken Sandwich, BZ Salads, BZ Chipotle Black Bean Burger, and more. I'd definitely come back, but I think we'll do more investigating with their menu options to find awesome foods that match the great atmosphere. read more

We used to go here regularly before the pandemic and the food was always great. We stopped in last night with some friends and were disappointed the food has changed so much. It was very bland and dry nothing special about it. We ordered the shrimp tostadas & boneless wings with sweet chili sauce and didn't enjoy either enough to eat even half. I'm hoping it's a side effect of the shortage everyone is experiencing and down the road they will be back on point. Drinks & service were good though! read more

Have been here multiple times and used to really enjoy it. I often frequent during happy hour, as the deals are very good. However, today when I went, I was sorely disappointed. Our service was extremely slow, which is interesting because there was only 1 other table and the bar was nearly empty. Despite the slow service, we did end up ordering a beer and a mixed drink. After quite a bit of time, our server came back and took our order, the chili cheese fries. We finished our first drink and waited for our food. After approximately 15 minutes our waitress came over and asked if we needed more to drink. We still had no food, so we ordered a Summer Shandy and a Caramel Swirl. When our food finally did come out, it was as expected, but quite a bit of time for chili cheese fries. We eventually got the check and I was appalled. One of our mixed drinks was $8.50. I watched the bar tender pour it, and she shorted the alcohol and filled it with milk. Seems ridiculous to hide prices and charge nearly what they charge for their sampler platter on what was essentially a glass of milk. With so many other places on Main Street to choose from, Pump Haus may need to step up their game. They really let us down this time. I'm going to need a good reason to come back, but will update my review when I do. read more

Many options for food, and so far have not been disappointed. One of the things that seems to stand out for an appetizer is there boneless wings, better then any wing chain around town. A must try spot, they do get busy at times but who doesn't like good food. read more

I haven't been here for a while, and I found myself pleasantly surprised: There are some new items on the menu! All of the Pump Haus classics remain, but their is some new delicious-looking items on the menu. I suggest you come check them out. I had the Quesadilla Burger, a classic, and one of my favorites. They added a zesty ranch to it, which I love. Now if they could just add a touch of taco seasoning to the burger, it would be phenomenal! I do love the tots here, but they also added sweet potato fries! I couldn't resist and had to order those, and I wasn't disappointed. I may have snuck a few tots off my husband's plate when he wasn't looking. We came in with a large group, including an elderly grandma with a disability, and the staff was immediately accommodating and helped us get a table set up for her needs and the rest of the group. I don't care for the individual TVs at each booth, but we just shut it off, and that's fine. Overall, a great visit, and I would recommend a trip if you are wanting some pub food with a Pump Haus twist! read more

Terrible service. We were told to seat ourselves and our waitress didnt come to our table for 10minutes. We were only served 1 water each without any offer to refill. Took 20min for them to cook some burgers. Then the hostess had to come by and give us our check and their card system went out. There were only like 3 tables filled in the restaurant. Lastly and most annoying is there were 4 workers either off shift or on break doing nothing to help. Food is okay though. read more

This place is always open so if you're stuck in town on a holiday and need somewhere to grab some food and a drink this is your place. The food is always good and the prices are really great compared to other bars in this location. They recently did some remodeling and it looks great. My only complaint is that the owners don't always treat the staff or former staff members respectfully and these people bust their buns on busy nights. read more

This place is a disaster to order from . I was in there for dinner and had to Waite 45 minutes to get my food , and when it came , it was cold . The bartender was not knowledgeable about the menu and he told me that , " he is the acting manager " . A real disaster and awful experience. I don't recommend this place for food . For drinking , they seem to be better prepared, and you don't wait forever for your drinks . The manager never showed up when I requested to speak to whoever runs that kitchen. Sorry to report we will not be able to recommend Pump Haus to others in the future. While Madison was a kind waitress she needs to get some training in how to handle situations beyond her control like we found ourselves in tonight. 1st I ordered a Nitro Milk Stout... which looked over poured *too much head... to me, and when I mentioned it to Madison she said something along the lines of, ""That's how it looks." The beer ended up settling but did indeed taste foamy and flat tasting rather than toasty and smooth. But after alk that happened next I didn't try and address the beer again with her I quickly drank it and switched to water (which tasted more refreshing actually) Next we tried to order which was difficult at first because we were told you were out of the sweet potato fries my wife wanted to order... so we settled on Blue cheese hot dog, side of onion rings, and Rueben Rolls. 30 minutes later Madison returns and says our food should be up soon... then 10 minutes later she comes to the table with the Onion Rings and Rueben Rolls!? But says, "The hot dog should be right up." A bit annoyed that a hot dog and fried food took this long but happy tge food was here we began to eat... {the onion rings and Reuben Rolls are lukewarm and clearly have sat out sonewhere} I was about to address this with Madison when she returned... with no hot dog... looking embarrassed... and explained something about the ""food runner" saying that you didn't have hotdogs anymore... she didn't explain if you ran out or just did not carry them anymore but she never offered an apology or explanation why it took 40 minutes for someone to look at our ticket, make everything on it, except the main dish and THEN decide to inform us there wasn't any hot dogs in Haus! Madison asked me if I wanted to order something else or if not that she could "comp" the hot dog!? Comp the hot dog? Gee thanks, you mean I don't have to pay gor the hot dog I ordered, waited 40 minutes for, but never would have gotten!?? I figured she meant ""remove it from my bill" but at this point I was grumpy hungry and annoyed that 10 minutes after we ordered, our table at Whiskey Road had come up ready a full 15 minutes early! I was also annoyed that our server, Madison didn't think to bring this situation to a Managers attention or hadn't been trained to offer customer satisfaction comps (real ones) in case of kitchen or staff screw ups. She even had a chance to offer free dessert when my wife had me ask about your dessert menu offerings Madison cupped her hands and said, "It's like a waffle cone wrapped around cheesecake." We paid our bill and left without anyone asking about our experience on the way out the door though we passed 4 other staff. I sent a private message to the Pump Haus via Facebook to give them a chance to reply to the encounter and when no one replyed after 24 hours I decided to go ahead and share my rating publicly. If you don't absolutely HAVE to have Reuben Rolls, I would take the time to wait for a different restaurant in the area, there are many nice ones. read more

Don't come here for food while college is in session. Their food is great but when it functions as a bar the waitstaff are stretched way too thin. It took our waiter 30 minutes to realize we were in his section, our apps and meal came out at the same time, and my date and I couldn't hear each other at all. My husband and I are from Omaha, and decided to eat dinner here to watch the Husker game. Seems like all of the booths have small TVs, and we were lucky enough to get one. We felt welcomed despite our Husker gear, especially with our server, Jess, who shared that she is originally from Omaha and is a Nebraska fan herself. She was kind enough to change our TV to the Husker game. The spinach artichoke dip was probably the best we've ever had. I enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich, and my husband had the Bruce burger with an added egg. We both had tots for our side and loved them! read more

I can't complain about The Pump Haus ... it is right next to my apartment. Sunday night is a good special night at the bar for half off drinks. I really enjoy their burgers there. Also the chips ... I think the make the potato chips there ... I always order fries and chips at any restaurant unsalted so I know they are fresh. We were the ONLY customers and they messed up 3 times. Wrong drink, not sure how you get a regular margarita mixed up with a rasberry cran. They didnt cook my husbands burger the way he asked. He asked for medium and got well done. Had a chicken wrap which was good except they put tomatoes in it when I requested them not too, it was even put on the receipt "no tomato". The waitress was nice. I remember the fries being a lot better too. It was my husbands 2nd time in Iowa and I wanted him to get the best of everything, I clearly chose wrong coming here for lunch. As a restaurant it's decent pub food, nothing that really seperates it from other Cedar Falls establishments. As a bar it's okay at best. I wouldn't recommend bringing family for dinner since around 7-8 is when the bar crowd usually starts coming and it quickly becomes an non-family environment. Drink specials are decent and they have a electronic jukebox which I like, but too many fights happen here as compared to other Cedar Falls bars. That being said there are safer and more fun places to drink. read more

Just moved here not too long ago and had to try Pump Haus because I've heard people talking about it. They have an AMAZING happy hour from 3pm-6pm Monday-Friday... half price appetizers and drinks (yes, that's ALL drinks including alcohol!). Either a waiter or bartender stole money out of my wallet when I left it behind in a booth on accident. I called ten minutes later to make sure it was safe and they assured me it was and explained that they had found it right after I left. This of course leads me to believe that only an employee would have had access to it. When I went to pick it up I was missing 60$. The owner was beyond rude about the situation. I, of course, knew that this was a consequence of leaving my wallet behind- but you'd think an owner of a local business would be kinder to a college kid about the misunderstanding. My boyfriend and I just moved here and have been exploring. We love good deals for cheap(er) date nights and decided to hit up Main St. to see what they had to offer. We ended up at the Pump Haus and will definitely be going back. The atmosphere was fun and laid back, the service was fantastic and the food to die for! He is a burger connoisseur, and he could not get over how good the burger was, and lcky for us it is build your own burger night for $7.99 and that included a side. Awesome bar grill combination. Casual, and classy enough for families/under-21. Small, but personal and cozy feeling (maybe stick to parties of 5-6 people); upstairs and downstairs to accommodate busy days. Happy hour special is great, and the appetizers are wonderful: tastes like home-made shake and bake chicken strips. Good burgers for dinner, and plenty of other options for a variety of tastes.
