It's tough to gauge if…read moreit's expensive still, or just cheaper than another pumpkin patch but for a family of four it's about a $200+ day . We did spend nearly four hours here last Saturday despite it being a bit chilly. I will say they finally have a lot more to do, and I appreciate the updates they've made to make it more of a day trip than a quick trip. We rode all the rides, slid the slides, and hit both train/hayracks. We spent our lunch in the food barn and got some discount hoodies and tops in the market. We also got 2 over prices pumpkins but when in rome. You can't leave SBP without their very tart apple cider donuts. so good! We'll continue to come back, even if it's a a pricey day.

My boys love visiting each year to see what's new, and visit their old favorites. As some other reviews said, yes the price has went up, but so have the amount of activities. It's still much more affordable than other options in the area for the amount of attractions they have. I always appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff are each time we're here. Definitely recommend coming earlier in the day to get your money's worth!

There was lots to do around the farm and this is my first time ever going, but I was informed by my friend who had been a handful of times that they definitely have added a bunch since even last year. My daughter really enjoyed the giant indoor corn pit and the animals in the barn. My favorite part was going to the creamery and enjoying a couple of scoops. All of their ice cream is made fresh on property, which is absolutely awesome. We will definitely go back!

This was our first visit to Nelson's Farm for the Strawberry Festival, and overall we had a very…read moregood experience. Originally, we planned to come just to pick strawberries because we had seen information online that led us to believe that was an option without attending the full festival. When we arrived, however, we learned that picking strawberries required purchasing full festival admission. Weekend tickets were $20 per person, with adults and children paying the same price. I think clearer communication on the website, social media, and at the farm itself regarding admission requirements would help set expectations. Since we ended up purchasing festival admission, we decided to explore everything the event had to offer...and there was quite a bit. The atmosphere reminded me a little of Valas Pumpkin Patch, but with a more relaxed, family-owned feel. In some ways, it felt more like the Valas I remember from growing up. Nelson's offers plenty of activities, but it still feels authentic and community-focused rather than highly commercialized. There were several giant slides, jumping pillows, farm animals to pet and feed, a playground, a corn pit, football and basketball games, and many other activities for kids. I imagine many of these attractions are available throughout the season, not just during Strawberry Festival. One thing they did especially well was the festival theming. There were adorable strawberry-themed photo opportunities throughout the property, cute displays, and thoughtful decorations. In the café and market, they had strawberry garlands, themed signs, and all sorts of strawberry-inspired merchandise. The market was particularly well done, with everything from strawberry candies and treats to strawberry-themed hair clips, keychains, cups, and other fun items. Like many farms, they offer a tractor-pulled ride out to the strawberry fields, which was much appreciated. The strawberry patch itself was larger than I expected. Some areas had been picked over, but there were still plenty of good berries if you took your time and looked around. It took my family of three about 30 minutes to pick roughly 1 1/2 pounds. We were told the berries are smaller this year because they're June-bearing strawberries, but they were incredibly sweet and flavorful. At $4 per pound, the pricing felt very reasonable for fresh local strawberries and comparable to what I'd expect to pay at a farmers market. One area for improvement would be adding more shaded seating for parents. Some of the attractions--particularly the large slides and jumping areas--have limited shade and seating nearby. We visited on a hot, humid Nebraska day, which isn't exactly unusual, so a few more places for adults to sit comfortably while supervising children would make the experience even better. I also appreciated seeing several American flags displayed around the property. It's always nice to see that sense of patriotism and community pride. Finally, every employee we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The staff genuinely seemed focused on creating a positive customer experience and maintaining the feel of a family farm. They do a very good job of that. Despite the confusion regarding admission, we had a fun day, picked some fantastic strawberries, and would absolutely consider visiting again.

This pumpkin patch is located just south of Norfolk. It is smaller in comparison to the pumpkin…read morepatches in Omaha, but is also significantly more affordable. My husband and I went with my sister, her husband, and my 2-year-old niece on a Saturday afternoon and the activities were great for a child this age and up to around age 10. It is geared toward children, so it probably wouldn't be very interesting for a group of teens or adults without younger kids. Admission is pretty affordable ($6 per person - no charge for children under age 2). I didn't actually confirm it, but I am pretty sure everything is cash-only, as I didn't see anyone paying with credit cards or machines that could process a credit card. Some activities cost extra (the zip line was $6 and the train ride was $2), but most of the activities are included in the admission price. They have a small cafe set in a semi-finished barn that serves reasonably-priced food items such as nachos, hot dogs, brats, caramel apples, and popcorn. I ordered a brat with chips and a bottled water for $5. The food isn't fancy, but it is affordable. There is plenty of seating in the barn, and you can also buy crafts that are for sale and children can ride a small carousel for 25 cents. They also offer free face painting on the weekends. Some of the attractions that are offered are a "jungle walk" (a 20-minute nature walk through a forrest), a giant slide, trike races, pony rides, train rides, old-fashioned buildings (jail, etc.), crafts, a small pumpkin patch, a zip line, and several "petting zoo" areas. You can also buy pumpkins and gourds at the exit. They had a very good selection and very reasonable prices (we got a very large pumpkin, two very large gourds, and two mini gourds for $20). The only thing I really wasn't a fan of was the petting zoo displays. The animals are pretty depressing. The horses seemed miserable and a little terrified and it was really off-putting. They also had a display with two pigs (that were fighting over a plastic grocery sack that had blown in their enclosure), a pen with goats, and a bunny enclosure. There were signs all over that all of the animals bite, so it seemed a little odd that these displays were advertised as "petting zoos." Although I did pet a horse and a goat with no bites, so maybe this is just a precaution. There are no restrooms - only outhouses. Overall this is a great outdoor activity for kids. It is much more cost-effective that other similar options in Nebraska (I'm looking at you, Omaha), and is a great way to spend a day with kids. It has enough activities to keep a young child's attention for several hours without being so large it is overwhelming. I would definitely recommend a trip here if you are in the area.

We visited poppy's for the first time this weekend and had a great time!…read more The price to get in is $6 for age 2 and up. Under 2 -free. They have many free things for kids to do, slides, tree house, nature hike(20 minutes going at an adult pace pushing a stroller) many craft sheds to look at, and the animals to let/view, and a ferry you an pull yourself across the small pond and face paintings Kiddie train was always full of excited children and I think it was an extra $1-2 for kids to ride. They have a small zip line for free and two others 500 & 700 feet for an additional charge. ($6?) they have hay rack rides for an additional charge as well. We enjoyed seeing the animals. The petting zoo part is misleading. The first barn only had one lonely pony who seems terrified of people and another shed with two ponies and a llama. Ponies came up to us but the llama stayed far away in the shed. The 2 pigs were digging in the dirt and funny to watch, they have a chicken coop for viewing chickens and many goats to watch as they act like kids. The goats all came running to the fence for the kids to pull and feed them grass. The bunnies had a sign that says they bite, which I'm sure is just a precaution but when we were there they had a net across the whole bunny exhibit. Guessing people were picking them up instead of just petting. The nature hike was nice walk through the trees but nothing really to look at but the trees. Some kids passing by seemed uninterested. They have a cafe with bbq pork sandwiches, brats, hot dogs, sloppy joes, nachos along with candy apples, brownies, cookies and pumpkin bars. Food was very good and a decent price. 2 bbq sandwiches, 2 chips and a pumpkin bar were around $10 Staff was very friendly and did they what could to assist you with any questions Will definitely return here in the future. 4 stars were given instead of 5 due to no bathrooms. They only have port a potties and no where to change a baby's diaper. Disappointing considering its a children attraction.
