I am very upset about what happened to my son when we visited this store last week. We have been shopping there for 15 years! As We were paying, Blaine (my 5 year old son) got this horrified look on his face and said, "mama, I have to go potty". I asked the girl behind the counter if we could use the bathroom and she said the closest bathroom was across the street at another business. I told her I know they have a bathroom and please can we use it. Blaine is crying now saying please please I have to go potty. She refuses, Blaine poops in his pants (which he never has done) and cries the whole way home asking why his favorite store wouldn't let him go potty. I wrote to the owner, and she completely brushed me off. Now to top it off, the owners have deleted my review on their Facebook page. I'm so sad and shocked that this is how they would handle this situation. It comes down to human decency. You don't pawn your customers off to another business to use the other businesses bathroom and you NEVER treat a child like that. Rebecca read more

I've been in this store several times, but it is so crowded and chaotic that I've never purchased anything. After hearing of their restroom policy (not letting anyone use the restroom ever, even small children), I can't support them until they make some changes. As a mom of a small kid, I can say he would be traumatized if he had an accident because a store wouldn't let him use the restroom when he needed to. Shame on you, Pumpkin Moon! You need to rethink this one, especially because you cater to kids in the first place. When you amend your policy, I'll be back. read more

Cute store to walk through once in a while. I don't have kids, nor do I even like kids. Perhaps because I'm really just a big kid myself and don't want to be bothered by other kids. So this store is great to walk through when there's no other kids in there walking around like drunk little aliens and screaming at the top of their lungs while their parents coddle them and joke about how "cute" they are... I don't think the kids are as annoying as the parents though... Pumpkin Moon is a novelty/gag/toy shop. You might be able to find a gift in here for someone before you're forced out by the sound of screaming children and their cackling parents. Other than that, this place is pretty awesome. read more

The kid in me loves this store. Who wouldn't? It is chock full of gag gifts, retro toys, wind up toys, bouncing balls, tattoo flash, iconic figures, candy, t-shirts, crafts, games, etc and accessories. It's not just for kids, they have tons of products for grown ups too! I am as gleeful as my 3 year old in here! You can spoil your child rotten in here and it will cost you next to nothing. This is one of my favorite stores! I always come in and buy loads of candy before I see a movie at the theater down the street! But if you do buy candy, make sure to squish it and make sure it's new because I've got quite a few hard laffy taffys. Also the staff is awesome! And despite the fact that everyone is fixated on the bathroom incident, their policy is what it is. I'm also pretty sure they have a sign that says they don't have a bathroom. So what if they don't? Such a cute little shop to check out if you're in search for the perfect gag gift toy for kids... or any big kid, for that matter. They do have a couple odds and ends over 20 bucks (tin robots, tin figurines) and some bobbleheads for 15.00 bucks. I was surprised to see a fairly large t-shirt collection for sale. I go here for gifts all the time. Bacon vs. Tofu action figure set was perfect for my brother-in-law, the usually vegetarian. Burning (George) Bush fire starter was perfect for my dad. Myriad funny car air fresheners have been bought for all my friends. Cat Butt coasters for the pastor who married us (she loved my Cat Butt bag I brought to the wedding, so I sent her the coasters for Christmas). This place is a great mix of kids' stuff and kids-at-heart stuff. read more

I love this store. Sure, every small town and city has something kind of like this, but this place has a good feel about it. First of all, the building that houses this store is old, big thumbs up in my book. Second, you can go in here with $10 to your name and walk out with a flock of toy actors for your next stop-motion (like I did!) and not feel like you have to eat beans and rice for dinner (even though I heart beans and rice!). This place is great for gifts, knickknacks and whats-its. Sure, they have some expensive stuff in here, but get past that and get lost in this store. read more

This store has everything you want, nothing you need. After reading about Pumpkin Moon on Yelp, I knew I had to stop in. I would have gone NUTS in this place when I was younger. They have every trinket, gag toys and random little toys you could think of. Bacon flavored mints...check Mustache stickers...check Blow up Moose Head...check Since I didn't have a need for the aforementioned bacon mints, mustache stickers or blow up moose head, I left empty handed. If you were hosting a child's party (or maybe even an adult gathering), this would be the perfect place to pick up some cheap items for gift bags. read more

This a good place to shop for goofy/geeky novelty items, somewhat similar to Uncle Fun, except a bit smaller & they don't seem to match the ample selection of ever-changing pop-culture memorabilia that keeps me coming back to Uncle Fun. A fun place. Fun selection, cute stuff overall, some unique items. However, I agree with the negative reviewers on their points. The staff seems to be mostly angry 16 year olds who are acting too cool to work in a toy store. If they don't want the job, I'm sure there are many other older people who would gladly offer proper customer service for the paycheck. Also, it's a bit pricy. I like browsing pumpkin moon, but always find myself buying very little and making a lot of mental notes to look for certain items on ebay at home where they will certainly be cheaper. read more

Pumpkin Moon is such a fun store! Any time I am in downtown Oak Park I make sure to stop in to see what's new! They have some really cool old school toys. I found some awesome wonder woman stuff, a great Virgen de Guadalupe messenger bag, some cute flying ninjas, and some great tote bags I gave to my family/friends as gifts for various occasions. I've brought my son and nieces here and they all loved it too. You can't walk in here and not have a great time looking at all the fun and unique items they carry. read more

It's very easy to spend a lot of money on a little nothing in this place if you have kids, but my boys like it a lot lol. It's something to do when there's not much else to do, and you can pick up a cool pen and erasers while you're there. My youngest, who loves dinosaurs, found a metallic finish dinosaur wind-up toy/pencil sharpener that winds by sharpening pencils. Very, very cool and unique item. They have some things you're not likely to find anywhere else. read more

I've been going to this place for years! Every time I go there my little heart skips like a little girl. They have all sorts of hard to find toys, shirts, and homeware. The prices are reasonable and you can and will definitely walk out feeling like a kid. read more

I could spend quite awhile in this store just looking at all the random items they have. However, instead of just browsing I was there shopping for stocking-stuffer type gifts for family of all ages. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for (some of the items seemed very overpriced) but I did find a few fun items that kept my family entertained during a post-holiday celebration brunch. read more

yay, pumpkin moon is fun! even if you aren't shopping for anything or anyone in particular, you can wander in here and will most likely will buy something. every time i go in there i think "oh i MUST get this for ____" and "ooh look at this!". silly buttons, some retro stuff, just lots of goofy stuff and i could easily spend at least an hour in there just wandering around. its definitely tight quarters in there though so i can't take my kids (double-stroller) in there for another few years or so when i can trust they won't trash the place! read more

Great place to by unique gifts for all ages. This store is one of Oak Park's hidden secrets. It's located just right outside Oak Park's main downtown street, on North Blvd. Very unique items that you can not find at other retailers. They have "knick-knacks" and toys for the little kiddies, and have retro style figurines for the adults too (i.e. Elvis, Beatles, I love Lucy kind of things). I have even bought retro 80's type of t-shirts for myself and as gifts. I highly recommend for anyone who plans to visit Oak Park to stop in Pumpkin Moon for some fun shopping. read more

I have lived in Oak Park and taken my boys to Pumpkin Moon for the past 12 years... yesterday made me reconsider continuing. I was Christmas shopping and stopped in to get my traditional stocking stuffers and the owner gave issue with providing me gift boxes for a few of the delicate glass figures I had purchased. Boxes are so cheap for retailers... she told me they cost her 25 cents each and she couldn't justify it for these $3 glass items... never mind I had purchased other items and my total bill was $35... she couldn't spare $1 worth of boxes. She was quite snarky and questioned me multiple times, rolled her eyes and then begged forgiveness due to holiday stress and hunger! I'm stressed too... single mom... Christmas for 2 kids! But I was giving her my $ and my business! SO much for supporting local retailers! Next time I'll go to another store that won't kill my Christmas spirit! read more

Pumpkin Moon is a great little store for all your jokes and gags. You must get a dirty diaper with the realistic brown rubber on it. Fake cigarettes and cigars, super hero action figures and famous personalities in boxes, funny T-shirts, joy buzzers, whoopee cushions,two headed coins, and magic stuff. They have great hillbilly teeth, toys from yesteryear, and candy from the 60's.like dots on a sheet, wax with juice inside, sugar babies, and much more. I always buy some of those buttons with the funny or great slogans on it. I'm in my fifties, but when I walk through those doors,this store is where you can be a kid again. I love to buy presents for people from here. It's super adorable and totally different. Their birthday cards are awesome, and most of them are super vintage. It is a tiny store, but you can spend plenty of time in there. Their stuff is a little pricey, but you can't find a lot of their stuff anywhere else. read more
