As far as I knew everything was great until my son started telling me that he was getting hit by kids in the class. As I started researching this further I found out it was a daily occurrence and that there were two twin boys in his class who were the troublemakers. After confronting his teachers about this they responded with "Well it doesn't seem to upset him" and "he isn't the only one getting hit" they also acted as though they had no idea what I was talking about at first. The were putting these children in time out but it became apparent that these were not children who would respond to time out and the school had no other ideas of how to solve the problem which was evident when on of the teachers asked me what they thought I should do about it. My son's behavior at home was totally off, he was not listening, yelling and hitting us, behavior that was not normal for him but because we didn't know he was being hit at school we thought it was just a phase. Several other children in his class confirmed that these were "bad kids" and that my son was being hit daily and crying. I finally had enough and I called to withdraw him from the school, since the director was not there I left a message and was surprised to never receive a call back. Never received a call to say sorry or find out what had gone wrong, they were obviously happy to be rid of us, mind you my son was an ideal student by all accounts at the school but WE were the bad ones because WE made an issue that they had to deal with. Those boys are still in class, the last I heard one of them had spit at the teacher so that will give you an idea of the scope of the problem. The real issue is that I had to find out from my son that there was a problem at school, if he had not had the language skills that he does I might have never found out. Bullying is a problem and it starts at a young age, they need to have an effective procedure in place for dealing with these types of problems. Until that happens I cannot recommend this school.

In addition to daycare for babies and toddlers, they also offer an industry leading pre-school program for 3 and 4 year olds. Their curriculum is top-notch for early childhood learning, engagement and education. They work on fine motor skills, numbers & letters recognition, counting, manners, and much much more. Also, the Sandbox teachers are all very skilled, patient and loving, giving each child one on one time and attention - including the needed praise and guidance that is so very important for children's development. We're so happy and thankful for all of the wonderful teachers and administrators at Sandbox. They are our second family!

Sometimes Cathy can be opinionated, and very frank when talking with parents. She has been with me. She has strict rules for lunches (no popcorn, grapes must be cut, etc.), but she is always motivated by the best interest of the children. The teachers are all warm, dedicated and knowledgeable. This school is a local institution for a reason- there are very few traditional nursery schools left in the area. In the last few years, Cathy has updated the facility and added more options for the days/times students can attend (lunch, 5 day and full day options)- she has not changed her dedication to preparing our little ones for school through social and play based learning.

You like alter the truth to fit your narrative. I tried to respond to your response. Your establishment left me and my husband without childcare without any notice at all because you hire people with no manors or respect and it's not the first time that's been done to a family. But that is ok because rejection is protection. The same teacher I complained about was fired months after I complained about her for taunting another student, but I guess our son didn't deserve that same respect in your eyes.. or meet the criteria? I'm not sure but I stand on what I said. She kicked my son's cot with her foot while he was laying there right by his head and left eye. Also not perception, I watched it on Watch Me Grow. This establishment won't pull the audio that I asked for because it would validate what we already know. Your response is exceptionally telling and it proved my point. You're sorry for "my perception of how things happened?" It's not a perception, it's what happened: things I've documented, things my husband and I have seen/ heard walking in there. Please let's not go here. I have literal videos of me recording my son getting out of our car to start his day, and you can HEAR how the teachers are talking to these small children on the playground. I've heard staff talk horribly about parents, about how the children are dressed I could literally go on forever. And the ONLY reason my son continued to go there for as long as he did was because of his infant teacher, and the teacher he had right before he was asked to leave. You asked him to leave because we called out your staff, not because of his behavior, which is also very telling. Our boy is sweet, so to have a grown women tell staff members that she didn't want to have a 2 year old in her class when he wasn't even in her class yet "because the parents are crazy ?!?" he's done nothing to her is absolutely insane. If you never noticed when his teacher wasn't there I kept him home with me because I didn't trust any other staff, which was exhausting . Your turn over rate is high because you will continue to hire people that are not qualified because you want to pay bare minimum. This daycare is truly a parents worst nightmare. You will continue to back your staffs bad behavior. I wish all parents knew how these small children that cannot are talk are talked to and treated and that's also not perception it's just reality. The entire school is a soap opera, and the staff cry to the owner as soon as they are called out. My son goes to an amazing school now where all of the teachers are required to have an actual degree and have extensive Montessori training to help them thrive and where we are appreciated as parents and not gaslit into believing we are seeing and hearing things. We're valued for wanting our son to be treated like a human. So funny how we've never had a single issue at any other school (he's been to 1 other daycare after this and now an actual school) except HT then again we don't have to tell the teachers how to treat our child here, and are treated like family instead of dollar signs. But keep talking about families and kids in your group chat. Talking about children and their families is so unprofessional and shows how miserable the staff is within their own lives and we are not that way and it's not the kind of energy we'd want around our family anyway. Their staff are seasoned professionals, and the ones who aren't soon will be from their A+ training. They treat the children with kindness and respect. They also taught me as a first time mother so much (even the grandmothers, who did pickups sometimes, were impressed and sought their knowledge). Based on my child's development, they would tell me when she was ready for solids, or puffs, or water. I trust them more than some chart that says at 6 months, do X. The owner is a delight, and perfectly fair and straightforward with everything. Go here, it is FIRST CLASS.

We've been here since August 2011. My oldest daughter loves her teachers, all the activities, art,…read morereading and outside play time she gets. My toddler loves her teachers, being outdoors and singing songs. The staff is knowledgeable, caring and (for the most part) long term employees. My girls have the same few teachers day in and day out and the schedule stays the same with teacher(s) every AM and the same in the PM. I love the consistency of knowing who is with my girls every day. I also love all the creativity in activities, themes and lessons that are provided for the older kids! In the evening when I pick up my toddler all toys that have been "mouthed" by the kids are air drying on the counter after being cleaned. The facility is owned and run by two sisters (Palmira and Maria) who are on site every day. They split they day so one of them is there from open until close. I appreciate having the ability to ask a quick question or give an update directly to the owners for things like health care, forms, etc. They spend the summer months going through their supplies, games, puzzles and the facility while the enrollment is lower due to summer vacations and eliminate anything that might be missing pieces or damaged, replace and repair whatever can be that they haven't caught along the way and doing the minor repairs and upkeep necessary to keep any facility of this kind looking clean. This was appeal ling to me while I was visiting the site in the summer of 2011. They also have plans to expand a covered porch area for the younger kids to be able to get some fresh air even when there's snow on the ground. I also like that they are involved in the scholastic book club ordering for the older children and St. Judes Trike-a-thon and the MDA Hop-A-thon. It's made sharing lessons of charity, caring for others, and "paying it forward" staple conversation in our house. I have experiences with 4 different daycares thanks to changes in our circumstances (family expanded, job requirements, etc). and I'm extremely happy with this choice. I just wish they were closer to my home! The one drawback and that may be because of last years unusual wet season - there are a lot of mosquitoes and my oldest is a magnet! This year we'll be using a skin-so-soft sunscreen combo to try to prevent bug bites. Hopefully with the dryer winter this won't be an issue. FYI Parents provide as appropriate: Sleeping materials (sheet and blanket and lovey) All meals and snacks sunscreen (must apply at home in the AM, center reapplies later in the day) change of clothes diapers, wipes, diaper cream/powder bibs
