Playing with bubbles!

Pup pup and Away has been amazing for my fear reactive blue heeler/lab puppy. We starting using their facility when she was five months old, and now three months later she is finally starting to be able to play with dogs without much assistance! They work very hard to help Lucy gain her confidence in people and in other pups. They did amazing to make sure Lucy never got too overwhelmed. I know with more time she will be a rock star! We utilized their play and train services, and will soon be using their Beta Program! We also took their Canine Sidekick 1 class and it was an awesome experience to teach us how to teach our dog. We had a great time and there was enough space that our reactive puppy was able to handle the class pretty well.

Loving PPA! My puppy Bexar started going to the socialization groups at about 9 weeks, then took the Power Puppy I class, and now goes to daycare a couple times a week. The socialization group really helped Bexar get out of her shell while also giving me peace of mind that we were in a safe environment for her. The Power Puppy I class was really helpful in applying commands in a new and distracting environment. I also love the daycare service. I know whenever I drop Bexar off that she will have a FULL day of fun, play, and enrichment. My favorite part is reviewing the report card at the end of her daycare days and getting to see how much fun she had through the pictures, videos, and trainer comments. The owner Stephanie and the trainers all seem to really care about the dogs' wellbeing, happiness, and training. Stephanie even called out Bexar's UTI before the vet did! And now with Bexar's temporary urinary diet, the daycare trainers are very accommodating and only feed her the treats I provide. Would really recommend PPA!

Day 1 of group training! Can't you tell how excited we are!

Stephanie is a wonder! I met here through a Yelp Elite event and she actually helped me in the process of finding and adopting our new dog! His name is Rascal Samwise and he was the perfect addition to our family, especially in this crazy year we call 2020! She was patient with all the humans and explained everything well. She showed us and worked with us as a group and individually in the group classes. The women really knows her stuff! She was also very aware and cautious about COVID-19 and enforced masks and social distancing while supplying plenty of germ juice (hand sanitizer). She gives great homework that helps cement what you started in class. I have recommended her to everyone I know who has recently gotten a new doggo! And the dog just love her. She has a great energy with them. She loves all doggie sidekicks and is a great teacher for their clueless humans!

I couldn't be more proud of my graduate! (hat made by me.) ;)

We just finished the 6-week Canine Sidekick classes at Pup Pup & Away with our now 14-month old shihpoo.  It was a fantastic experience.  The three of us learned a lot!  Every week we would get an email right after class with a summary of what we learned along with homework assignments, instructions and links to fantastic videos. In the first few classes our 7-pound wonder-dog had a very hard time focusing.  She didn't accomplish much in the classes.  Miraculously though, she still took in enough of the training that when we would work with her at home she did beautifully.  On week 4 we worked on loose leash walking.  Maddie barely participated at all, though we tried and tried.  The next day she was very much improved on our walk and then on the next day we noticed a remarkable transition.  She has been an absolute joy to walk with on our twice a day walks since then.  She has learned to sit, lay down, stay, "leave it", spin and place.  We learned a lot about teaching her.  Last night was her "graduation".  She passed all of her skill tests and recieved a certificate.  I can honestly say that I was amazed and so very proud of how well she did.  Stephanie is an absolute treasure.  All of the dogs absolutely love her and they love learning from her.  She is truly gifted. Thanks Pup Pup & Away!

My 6 month old puppy Susie just graduated the 6 week Sidekick class, AND SHE LOVED IT! (So did I!) She was timid on the 1st visit, but grew to love the Instructor and the space, she knew where we were going whenever I put her bed in the car, and she'd get the zoomies and be excited to go to school. The classtime was well balanced with tricks and behaviors to learn and practice, with enough mental rest time for the dogs so they don't go nuts trying so hard. The homework assignments were achievable and not overwhelming, but did help establish an at home training awareness to maintain beyond class. AND PLUS, the socially/physically distanced classroom/warehouse felt safe and in compliance with COVID19 precautions. Thanks so much from Susie!!!!

My husband and I have used Pup Pup & Away for both of our dogs (10 months and 3 years old) for private lessons, pet sitting, and most recently, the Canine Sidekick Class for our newest addition, Rey! Stephanie was amazing to work with on each occasion, and I've seen the biggest improvements in both dogs. Stephanie helps break down the skills for each dog, and I love that she trains *you* to train your dogs vs her just teaching the dog. She truly has the heart of a teacher, and I'd recommend Pup Pup & Away to anyone looking for training or pet sitting!

I cannot day enough good things about Stephanie and her Power Puppy course! (We just graduated today!) Prior to starting her classes, I researched area trainings, including popular training courses through major retailers, and Stephanie was the only one who not only let me sit in a class, but let me as as many questions as I wanted before committing. Investing that much time, money, and driving is difficult, so I wanted to make sure that I had the best fit for my pup. She was professional, gathered necessary paperwork to insure my pup was healthy and up to date on shots, provided "homework", and made sure the class was capped to ensure safety and attention in the class -- from humans and canines alike! Each class involved puppy play time, impulse control, and working on behaviors. What was so great and special about her courses was that Stephanie truly takes the time to educate us about WHY certain behaviors were happening, how we could improve, and how to understand our dogs behaviors and mannerisms so much better. I feel that in finishing this course, I have a well behaved pup BUT I also feel much more in control, knowledgeable, and confident when it comes to my pet. I'm already planning on signing up for another course in a couple of months!

Stephanie, the owner, was the answer to our prayers! I don't trust anyone with my dog because he is a runner but she has definitely earned my trust. She is so patient and only uses positive reinforcement. I recommend her to any other of my fur baby owners out there. We signed up for a 6 week training where our dog learned the basic obedience skills. It was definitely worth the money and time. She also offers walking services, personal house training calls, and various 6 week programs. It is also great that she is a local San Antonian making a difference in people's lives one dog at a time.

I'm so glad I found Pup Pup & Away for my first training needs! I'm incredibly happy with the training my puppy and I received during the Canine Sidekick course. I immediately saw positive behavior changes in my puppy after the first class. Also, Stephanie was great through the entire process with answering questions and providing amazing feedback! I hope to continue on with classes at Pup Pup & Away. I will definitely continue to use the day care services as well!

The Canine Sidekick training class was so effective and everyone was so kind and helpful- especially the owner Stephanie who led the class. I already helped a few people get connected with Pup Pup and Away to help with training their pups because it worked so well for my dog Fern.

Resting up after another fun day at pup pup and away!

we love pup pup and away! kloi is always excited to play with friends, learn new tricks and train with staff ! we love and appreciate the service and care they provide during doggy daycare. She gets a full day of physical exercise and mental stimulation so she comes home calm, relaxed and exhausted after a full day of fun! We get a good laugh from her daily report and enjoy the pics and videos from her day.

I absolutely love Pup Pup & Away. My puppy started the Power Puppy 1 class at 11ish weeks and he learned sooo much. Stephanie did a great job of correcting in an informational way and made sure everyone was on track. Briggs loved going every weekend and would get so excited when we pulled up. We are starting the Power Puppy 2 class next week and I'm so excited to learn and help my puppy be the best he can be!

I literally cannot say enough positive things about Pup Pup & Away! From when I called and had 10000 questions, to the suggestions to get my dog Wrigley to behave properly when playing. We are finishing one puppy class and already enrolled in the second class! Wrigley bolts for the door each time we go in. Thank you for all y'all do!!! We can't wait for Puppy two!!!

This lovely update I received letting me know exactly where Rocco was and how he felt... love the detail!

This is NOT the place it used to be! After a 5 nights stay, my poor dog smells really bad, has been…read morecrying since I picked her up for 2 straight hours, lost a lot of weight, and now has fleas on her. No leftover food or treats were returned to me because then I could have seen how much she had been fed, which couldn't have been much by how much she's lost! I asked to see where she was staying when we dropped her off because I paid for a "deluxe suite," and they refused and referred me to photos on their website. They claimed people walking through there get the dogs barking. So are your employees invisible then? Because they have to walk through there. Those photos on their site could have been from anywhere! I guess they aren't washing bedding between pets either, or my dog wouldn't have fleas because she had none when I dropped her off! She wouldn't have smelled so bad either. She doesn't play with other dogs, or go to dog parks, so there is no chance from getting fleas that way. This place used to be a LOT better than it is now. And the smell when you walk in the door will knock you over. Never smelled that bad when we used them before and that was in the heat of the summer! Also, it was really hot in there this morning when it was only 65 outside so it's not even kept cool for the pets. It's supposed to be climate controlled. So, disappointed in this place! Idk if they are under new management or what because we haven't used them since 2024, but my dog will NEVER stay there again. My daughter's cat also unfortunately stayed there in a "deluxe suite". It's nothing more than a small cage she is kept in like at a shelter. There's NOTHING deluxe about it. I specifically asked them to leave her travel crate with her because my daughter put a shirt in there that smells like her to comfort the cat, when I picked her up they got the travel crate from a storage room and the shirt was still in it. This cat loves her travel crate and when the guy handed her to me in it he said, "she hates the crate". No, she loves it! She lays in it in my daughter's apartment during the day sometimes because it comforts her. Idk what they did but she was acting like she didn't want to be in it at all! She meowed the entire way home. She had been silent on the ride there to drop her off though. The cat smelled bad, too. So, we paid a fortune for them to neglect our animals, and not do what we asked, and refused to let me see where my dog was staying (suspicious), and charged me for a "deluxe suite" (crate) to keep the cat in. Complete sham! Why is it so hard to find a place that will take good care of your pets for you when you have to travel?! Lastly, I got pictures of our dog every day and she looked sad in all of them. But my daughter only got any photos of her cat the last day she stayed there. Pretty sure that was the only time they let her out of that crate! I don't trust these ppl and my babies will NEVER stay there again!

I had previously used this facility for boarding, but unfortunately my most recent experience was…read morevery disappointing and raised concerns about the level of care provided. After my dog's stay, both of my dogs returned home smelling strongly of urine/ammonia. At the time, I brushed it off, but after this recent interaction, it feels more concerning and worth noting. I was recently informed that my dog could no longer be accommodated due to his need for a male wrap (diaper), which they described as requiring "medical-grade supervision." This was surprising, as changing a male wrap is a very basic and routine task that pet owners handle daily without any specialized training. Many boarding facilities are also able to accommodate this without issue. What was particularly frustrating was being provided with "hygiene guidelines" for diaper use, while at the same time being told their staff is unable to remove and replace the wrap during normal potty breaks. That is a fundamental part of maintaining proper hygiene. Avoiding that responsibility while citing hygiene concerns feels contradictory and misleading. In my experience, proper hygiene in a boarding setting comes from consistent, attentive basic care. Given the odor my dogs returned with, it raises concerns about whether those standards are being consistently met within the facility. Overall, this felt less like a true limitation and more like a lack of willingness or capability to provide standard care. I will be taking my business elsewhere to a facility better equipped to handle routine needs.
