I found Sarina through Rover 7 years ago, and have been taking my little ninja dog to her multiple times a week for daycare, vacation stays, etc. for many of these years (until the pandemic happened and I started WFH more - but I still regularly take my dog to Sarina's for vacations). This review is something I have waited to leave for numerous reasons. Back in April of this year my dogs stayed here for 4 nights and 3 days. We had let Sarina know that our puppy was special needs with some physical limitations. Honestly first impression everything seemed in order. You can't go in to see where the dogs are staying because it is her house, which I can understand. However there are no cameras and updates were just a few pictures. However, everything still seemed in order. When we went to pick them up Sarina had mentioned off hand that our puppy had chewed his walking harness off while they slept. These harnesses are not to be kept on overnight as it's a choking hazard. Then she said he had an accident on the stairs. He had hip issues and really needed to be careful on stairs. I brushed all of this off which was my first mistake. Over the course of 2.5 days my dog refused to eat and could barely walk. I rushed him to the emergency vet and he had a foreign object in his stomach (thought it was a piece of his harness but it was actually a rock) and his hip had been popped out of place. All of this is deeply upsetting because he had never had any issues at home and this was his first time at a pet sitters. I believe I am an understanding person and mistakes happen; I didn't want to jump to conclusions too soon. We were lucky we got to the vet when we did and he had survived, up to that point. Since April we had reached out to Sarina to come to some sort of agreement. We have cameras on our property and we scoured them to make sure these things didn't happen on our watch. We wanted to be absolutely sure before we brought her into it, and that we were being fair. We had asked her for her camera footage of the dogs and she refused. She even denied having said that our dog had an accident even though she had a doorbell camera where we were talking. She had made it seem like she was going to contact her insurance for a claim, but that went nowhere. Because we couldn't "prove" that any of this happened in her care, she absolved herself of any responsibility. Unfortunately, within 4 months of my 14 month old dog having gone to Puppies in Play, his condition worsened every month until his body couldn't take it anymore. He is no longer with us and I hope people consider my story before they send their dog to a sitI cannot blame her for my dog's special needs or his untimely passing, but he was not right after he stayed there. It was thousands in vet bills and now a broken heart. I just wish she had taken some responsibility for what happened to him while he was in her care. If she had come to us and tried to make it right in whatever way she could, we would've appreciated that more than her apparent dismissiveness. It was never about the money, only the principals. I do believe this wasn't malicious on her part and it was an accident but I also hope our situation helps her improve her business to make it safer for the pets and pet parents that choose to use her services. read more

0 STARS. SHE KILLED OUR DOG. We brought our french bulldog with a pre-existing heart condition to Sarina for a week because she mentioned she had extensive experience caring for special needs dogs. She listened to our very specific needs and requirements for his care and reassured us that he would be in good hands with her and her family. A family environment is what he was used to, and between her rather convincing words of comfort and the overwhelming positive reviews on her Rover profile we felt we had made the right choice for him. We were so very wrong. It's important to mention that despite our dogs heart condition, HE HAD BEEN BOARDED WITH OTHER SITTERS 4 TIMES IN THE PAST WITHOUT ISSUE. She called to let us know he passed in his sleep the night before we were meant to come home. So we rushed back and went straight to the vets office where she had taken him. The attending vet spoke with us, letting us know that when she brought him in he was already in rigor mortis. We ordered a necropsy, and the initial report revealed to us that not only did he NOT die in his sleep like she claimed, but he was in severe distress from bloat and having a hard time breathing, and ultimately his heart eventually gave out. He died because no one was there to help him when he was struggling. No one noticed him having a hard time. And a bulldog having a hard time breathing is not something you can easily ignore. If someone was with him, like we were told would be the level of care he would receive, it may have been possible to save him. Even if he couldn't be saved, just knowing he wasn't alone would have helped to ease some of the pain of losing him. But SHE LIED about him dying in his sleep (even adding insult to injury by telling us that "with a heart condition like that we can only do so much"). SHE ALSO LIED about her experience with special needs dogs, and SHE LIED about the "family home" he would be a part of. Family home means he would be a part of the family. As in NOT ALONE. But he was neglected. We asked to keep him separate from other dogs in the home because he can't have too much activity, but we didn't know she would completely alienate him from comfort and care. And the fact that he was brought in ALREADY IN RIGOR MORTIS shows the level of negligence on her part -and absolutely heinous transgression. Our poor boy was alone for much too long before he was found. The pain of losing him in this way is indescribable, and we feel so betrayed by Rover's handling of the situation. I'm writing this in tears because it's important for anyone considering her services to know that if you have a special needs dog, if you require a true family home environment for your dog, or if you have any kind of brachycephalic dog breed, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. She is not capable of providing the level of care they need and deserve regardless of what she claims her experience to be. Do not make the same mistake we made. read more

Sarina is such a blessing! She and her helpers took my GSD Argo in for a month! and he came back as healthy and happy as he was when we left him there. This was the first time we left our 10 year old for school a long time - and absolutely no regrets! Sarina regularly sent us updates and pictures and that was such a relief and of course peace of mind. I'd leave Argo with her anytime. He's friendly with people, but not so with other dogs, but Sarina seemed to have it all under control.
