We started bringing Maggie to Puppy Einstein for playgroup and behavior work after realizing she just wasn't good around other dogs , lots of jumping, way too much excitement, kind of a lot to handle honestly. I was nervous going in because she'd embarrassed me at the dog park more than once. Derek was great from day one. He didn't just try to "fix" Maggie, he actually explained what was going on with her, why she was reacting the way she was, and what we could do about it as her people, not just during class but at home too. The structured playgroups made a huge difference. Watching her learn to actually play appropriately with other dogs instead of just bulldozing them was honestly kind of emotional for me. A few months in and Maggie is a completely different dog around other pups. Still has her moments, but she checks in with me now instead of just losing it. We have a rescue Chihuahua who was abused. She was very fearful around strangers and would bark incessantly and uncontrollably if a stranger came near her. Many said "She's a small dog, this is what they do", others "Its understandable, with her past". Puppy Einstein is the best around, they are super flexible and you go at your own pace. I have a greater Swiss Mountain dog and he isn't neutered so he can be quite a handful. I have an 18 month old Kane Corso/Italian Mastif, Cassie. She had training with Derek Calado as a puppy. She absolutely LOVES Derek. He is so great with her...I call him "the dog wisperer".
