She is knowledgeable, professional, and someone I have felt confident following medically. However, over the last couple of years, my annual appointments have consistently been with a physician assistant rather than with Dr. Leong. Unfortunately, my experiences with this provider have been disappointing. I have felt talked over during visits, not fully listened to, and at times treated as though my concerns were an inconvenience. I raised these concerns previously and was told I would not have to see this provider again, yet at my most recent visit I was scheduled with her again. The most concerning experience occurred when I became extremely ill. My wife called the office to request medication for nausea and was told that if we did not hear back, we should check the pharmacy. There was no follow-up call and no prescription sent. For a patient of more than two decades, that lack of communication and care felt dismissive and unacceptable. I still have respect for Dr. Leong, but the overall patient experience has declined. Long-term patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and cared for -- especially when acutely ill. I hope the practice and anyone thinking of joining takes this feedback seriously.

If we need him between our regular checks, he always works us in that day or the next day. Our previous doctor retired, Dr. Stanley Kahn, who was also a great, thorough doctor. We think we have one of the best Internal Medicine doctors anywhere and are very happy with Dr. Wynne.

Last time my doctor sent a letter explaining all my test results with the lab results attached. The whole experience was quick, easy. My experience in the care of this practice was bizarre to say the least. Upon my first visit the…read morenurse who initially saw me suggested that the COVID vaccine causes or increases neurological issues, and that it was a bad idea for I, an immunocompromised individual, to get another booster. I was told this was apparently standard recommendation here. My mother was with me and we gave each other a "what the hell did we just hear?" look. It goes to reason that every other doctor recommends vaccination, especially for COVID, as COVID is aggressive and the long-term complications of it can be disabling, especially for those like me and other individuals with chronic neurological issues. When I'd reported this to my rheumatologist, she was startled, saying she'd recommended Counce for years, but with that revelation she completely stopped referrals to her. Dr. Counce herself seemed to be very detached and did not focus much time on me at all. I kind of felt like my symptoms were being ignored. She didn't seem to hold much emotion or care. When I moved to UAB Neurology for a second opinion on my spine MRIs, they poured over everything they could to try and find an answer for me, and despite coming up dry as well, I at least feel like they gave it a better shot in that one session as opposed to the multiple I saw Counce. In her defense at least, she did run tests on me and did not simply brush my case off right away like some doctors have. But after they found nothing from there, they weren't willing to dig deeper than those basic tests. At the time my condition had been presenting almost like a neurodegenerative disease or like a more subtle case of MS, so this was naturally crushing. I wish they had done more for me. I also cannot trust a doctor whose nurses actively recommend AGAINST a vaccine for an illness that kills and disables aggressively, especially when a lot of their patients would be highly vulnerable to that illness! It's a HUGE red flag to dissuade from the COVID vaccine, DOUBLY SO when it's coming from medical professionals.

I told them I was pregnant and women with epilepsy can have a hard time with dosing medicine correctly. they never answered their phone when I called, never told me I would be experience seizure symptoms or anything for that matter. I felt alone through it all and ended up having a miscarriage. I messaged my concerns to the doctor (because the only way you can reach them is through their portal) explaining my situation and how I felt disregarded. they never responded to my message and deactivated my account. I would go to anyone but this place. We have switched to a UAB Neurologist who actually knows how to communicate with their patients. I'm happy to no longer be a patient at this place.

When making this appointment over three weeks ago I was told that they had a cancellation and if I didn't take this appointment I would have to wait until October. I arrived for my appointment at 10:15 a.m. which is fairly standard for most medical practices, and I was told that the CRNP (Dr. Allyson Gilstrap was on leave so I wasn't even going to see a doctor ) could not see me since I was not there at 10:00 a.m. To be fair, it was suggested, not mandated, to be there a half an hour early to fill out paperwork which would have taken maybe 10 minutes. But I was not made aware that if I was not there by 10:00 a.m. on the dot I would not be seen. I should have been told that. They asked me if I could come back at 3:00 p. m. That would not work for me and I said no and walked out. What is the purpose of making an appointment and arriving early just to be turned away for not being there a half an hour early!! Who does that?? I've never heard of such a thing!! And I should have been able to fill the paperwork out online like most medical practices offer now, and not this out-of-date system. I hope that the person/persons running this place rethink their policies because this clearly is not the way to treat new, potential and existing patients. Turning away a new patient for not being a half an hour early for their appointment is very suspect to say the least. I have since spoken to several people that I know in the medical profession and told them of my experience with this practice and they outright told me this is absolutely wrong.
