You can also pickup truffle gift boxes, Easter bunnies, chocolate candies and bars during different times of the year. They've even resumed giving a sample truffle when you enter the store. But our go-to now is the new chocolate station offering both their popular ice cream and hot chocolate by the chocolate fountains. Service is friendly and meticulous with each order. The hot chocolate has plenty of depth in flavour and can be selected to be either dark or light chocolate, or mixed in between. While the menu item ($6.49) is expensive but it's a sweet premium taste that's worth it. The mixed crema gelata ice cream ($7.79) comes with a cone that's coated & filled with tasty dark chocolate. Skip it or hit it? We always hit it for a chocolate treat including the ice cream cone.

The other was its Lansdowne Park location in Ottawa. I will admit that I stopped going to the one by my workplace. I don't know why. I really should go back to my habit of getting a box of hot-out-of-the-fryer puffs after work. These days, I have been reacquainting myself with Aurora. On Saturday, I was driving up Bayview Avenue and noticed a Mr Puffs sign next to an A&W. These two eateries occupy the old Panera Bread store that stayed vacant for the longest time. It was nice to see it spruced up with new businesses. After having a late lunch, I had placed a takeout order for dinner. Yes, I don't skip a planning beat with meals... haha! While waiting for my takeout order, I felt the need to swing by this Mr Puffs location. It's in a plaza that I used to frequent often a good decade ago. The Sheridan Nurseries across from this business used to be Michael-Angelo's, a grocery store that I loved getting Portuguese custard tarts from. I found a parking spot fairly close to Mr Puffs. I parked my car and then headed over to the store. There are two sets of doors to go through before you see the counter. There was a woman with three kids in front of me. It was perfect to go through the menu. There were new offerings. You can get stuffed puffs now. I wanted my usual crispy-chewy puffs, but I was excited to see new items. It offers a Dubai series of items. I may need to do Dubai puffs next time. I wanted a light snack. I went with twelve puffs. The woman taking my order was helpful and nice. I got apple cinnamon and raspberry puffs. Both glazes are comforting and yummy. I frankly don't think there is a glaze that I despise. The choco series is yummy, too. She asked for my name for the order. I like that touch rather than employing a number system. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. This store is spacious and nice. There was a group of six folks sitting around a circular table. It almost looked like they were having a group therapy session with puffs. There was also seating where the kids and mom were. This store has a ton more seating here than the Dixie location in Mississauga and has a more relaxed atmosphere than the Lansdowne Park location. There were two orders ahead of me. I got to check out branded drinkware. Mr Puffs now offers spreads in jars, such as hazelnut, pistachio, choco-loco (hazelnut and white chocolate), and more. Nice! It was great seeing puffs made in front of my eyes. I watched a male staffer glaze a box of thirty puffs. Yum! The woman called my name. I was excited. I thanked her and wished her a good evening. She reciprocated. I safely secured my box of deliciousness in my car. I drove over to fetch my dinner order. Once I had that order in my car, I opened my Mr Puffs box to enjoy puffs that I haven't had in at least a year. I got fourteen of them. I always like when I get bonus puffs. I feel like I've won a jackpot of sorts. It's also nice that I got my favourite number of them. The puffs were heavenly. Crispy and chewy. The apple cinnamon had the perfect balance of apple goodness with comforting cinnamon. I appreciate that the glazes aren't too sweet. The raspberry was delicious. And I have to give away those chocolates. One of my friends bought me the coconut mango cream filled chocolates $12 for the 5 pack. I went to exchange it. I found out they have a NO RETURN/EXCHANGE POLICY. The clerk stated, "even if you just bought it and changed your mind, I can't even exchange it for you." For chocolates as expensive as these are I would expect better. That's the worst policies for a high end chocolatier I've heard of. I would expect you to stand by your products, not tell your customers to suck up your distasteful failed chocolate "creations". My last reason for shopping here was the sustainable cocoa farming they spout about on the website, fooling into believing they have some ethical framework they follow. This unfortunately doesn't go as far as putting any efforts into stopping child labour from their cocoa producers. Hopefully we can grow a conscience, because with the prices you charge, you can afford to act ethically.

This Purdy's location is pretty busy because of the foot traffic in the mall. It also keeps longer hours than the one at Sheppard Center. I think they need more staff! There was only one lady there to take orders so people had to wait. This location also has ice cream, which is popular with kids of course. That makes it more busy than usual. Anyway, the experience was perfectly fine. I waited only a little while & then was served. I will say that I was expecting the chocolates to be put into a small box but they put it into a bag instead. A box would have been nicer. The chocolates are a bit pricey but I was okay with that.
