The studio in Fairfax was incredibly unprofessional. I signed up for an introductory class and they charged me without letting me know they charged my card and without confirming that it wasn't actually a free class. How could a studio advertise a free class online and then go back on their word and they say it's contingent upon a membership? RIDICULOUS. At a time like this where I would love to support a small business but they're taking advantage! Would NOT recommend.

First time at @pure_barre and it's our favorite barre class so far! The intro class we tried the other week was slower pace while working on core and whole body. We were definitely shaking by the end. The cool part is that you could still workout while not sweating to get toned. You learn more from the class than the instructor which was interesting but she was there to help guide you to the right positions. Your first class is free and we tried the @purebarrefairfax location which had very friendly staff(:

All the instructors are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful throughout each series of movements. The space is clean, beautiful, and easy to access. I appreciate the small, intimate class sizes, as they allow for more personal attention and guidance. In my opinion, the best part about this studio is the variety of classes available, catering to different levels and experiences. My first class was a prenatal series, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and it made me feel welcomed into the studio community. The best part is the owner she is extremely knowledgeable and personable but most of all informative, always attuned to the individual needs of each class, and is just a wealth of knowledge of her pilates expertise. From Profesional ballet dancers to new moms this class. I've seen an older community of women who were so strong and ushered me in to challenging movements alongside given such encouragement. The only draw back I wish there were more class times for mommas I just can't get enough..

I have prior Pilates experience (barre/reformer/chair/mat) and girlfriend had none, but picked things up quickly. I think Eurona did a really good job of keeping me challenged as well as focused on technique, while giving my gf the cuing she needed to understand the movements. The studio itself is tucked away in an office park off of rt 29. Actually, if you take the hot lanes on 495 (like I did) to get there the rt 29 exit drops you off almost exactly where you need to be. Epiphany Pilates offers a variety of classes; mat (levels 1-3), reformer (privates and duets), yoga and bootybarre. So there is something for everyone. They have a large open studio space for the group classes and then two smaller rooms for privates. I like the studio set up; this way, you don't feel like you are interrupting anyone's session. I enjoyed my time at Epiphany Pilates, I would recommend the private sessions to anyone wanting to learn more about form and technique. I am also interested in going back for some bootybarre. Eurona clearly has a passion for what she does, and her studio is reflection of that.

I love the coaches in the Mosaic location (I haven't been to other locations). I am a total beginner to pilates-like classes and the reformer machine. I took ~3 foundation classes to get started and I felt like the instructors were all so great at helping me improve my form to get the best workout possible. I feel pushed but not shamed into challenging myself. They sell towels and water if you happen to forget to bring either. I feel like a sweat a mild-moderate amount and I don't think a towel is absolutely necessary. Water is probably a good idea - but the class is pretty fast-paced so not a ton of time for water breaks anyway. Now that I'm hooked, I typically do ~2 classes/week. I like the early AM classes (but they fill up fast!). I feel like this gym is clean and compact. I get exactly what I need out of it. There aren't showers so plan accordingly if you have plans afterwards (it's a good sweat!) I like their Public Goods toiletries and have even bought some myself after using them at this gym. Awesome location, awesome coaches, and awesome workout :)!

To be honest, I haven't ever found such a feeling of community at any of the other Pilates or Yoga studios I have been to. Fairfax is very lucky to have such a wonderful studio and I am very glad I stuck it out through that first barre class. Since then, I have had so much fun going through the intro equipment classes, getting to know different teachers, fine tuning movements, and getting pointers on how to take my practice to the next level. I have also thoroughly enjoyed taking advantage of the Dog Days of Summer package they offered in August and taking unlimited barre classes. A+

Inferno Strength: This was my first heated lifting class. Luckily we weren't using heavy weights, not sure I'd want to sweat when lifting heavy!!! The max weight was maybe 20lbs? 25 lbs? I definitely enjoyed the class. There were a lot of bilateral and unilateral moves using weights. In the last part of the class, we were able to do sets of our favorite exercise. Inferno Hot Pilates /Pilates Sculpt: The class started off on the floor, then standing up, so being in the back and the music loud, it was a little hard to follow along, but I improvised. Everyone was going at their own pace, so that made it a little harder to see/follow the instructor. There were a lot of bilateral and unilateral moves using light weights and the block. This class left me sore for the rest of the week, so definitely worth it! The signs are little confusing as some say they do not provide mats, but it looks like there were some available (packaged and not). Also, they say late comers won't be admitted, but a couple people showed up late for one of the classes. There is a separate weight lifting area, for separate lifting classes, which I would love to try. It looks like there are about 5 different classes offered and only one of each class each day. Shelly helped correct my form during Pilates and was so great with instructors and Sara was super encouraging and helped recommend the right weights for each exercise. Couldn't have asked for a better experience for my first time exercising in a million degrees. Overall, great gym with wonderful people and amazing instructors.
