I signed up for the four-class monthly membership, and my first class back reminded me why I enjoyed Pure Barre so much. Check-in was quick and easy, whether you use the app or check in at the front desk. The staff greeted me right away, and the studio was well organized. I appreciated the cubbies for personal items and the shoe trays. Holly taught my Classic class, and she was fantastic. Her energy was contagious, her cues were clear, and she provided both hands-on corrections and verbal encouragement throughout class. We worked the entire body, with a strong emphasis on the core, and I definitely felt the burn. As a Pilates instructor, I appreciate thoughtful movement instruction, and Holly delivered a challenging, well-balanced workout. I've taken 500+ classes at Pure Barre in Ladue and love it! In about two years, I've developed so much lean muscle, improved my endurance and flexibility, met some incredible people, and lost about 20 pounds. The teachers, staff, and owners are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging, and welcoming. Many of the teachers attend class on a regular basis as well which helps if you're new. The Pure Barre and Pure Barre Empower exercises consistently challenge everyone in a good way, plus there are always modifications available to adjust the movements if you have injuries or are just coming back to regular workouts. The loud music helps drive the upbeat classes and the darker lighting (very different from other barre type franchises) lets you really get in the moment and focus on the mind/body connection. The atmosphere at this location is non-competitive and attracts a wide range of ages and body types. (Weekend classes tend to have more younger clients and morning weekday classes tend to skew older.) Being healthy and exercising safely is a big focus at Pure Barre Ladue which I love. The studio is clean; registration is easy; and there's easy parking in the free lot. Be sure to talk to your instructor about any injuries before class so you have some modifications ahead of time. If you go often, think about signing up for the unlimited contracts--it's a great deal and you get free access to Pure Barre online videos which are fabulous when you're out of town. I've been attending classes here since the middle of August. At first I was really intimidated and clueless-it's taken me awhile to figure things out! Every single person who works at PB is friendly and approachable. I find it amazing they try to learn every single person's name. Overall, I find the classes fast paced and typically keep my heart rate in the high 130's. This is definitely as much a mental workout as a physical one. In class many times you will hear "You are stronger than you think you are." The one that always makes me laugh is "You are strong then the tube!" It's a great reminder that anything can be overcome. The shop is pretty small but has a great range of workout gear (leggings, tops, headbands, sticky socks). They have two restrooms that are both well stocked with spray deodorant, tampons, and air freshener. In the back of the class area there are also two water fountains, with one specifically for water bottles. I love how the water fountain keeps track of how many plastic water bottles you have helped to avoid using. There is an additional area for trying on clothes from the shop, or changing clothes if both the restrooms are full. After 30ish classes I've already noticed changes in my arms and legs especially. I can also hold a 90 second plank now, whereas before starting barre class I might be able to do a 10 second plank :) read more

I had never taken a Pure Barre class but I had heard of it from friends. A friend of mine gave me a free class pass, so I went and tried it out at the Ladue location. I was pretty nervous for my first class, and I had researched videos online of other people who had taken Barre and what to expect during class, so I was pretty ready for it. The first class was amazing! I hadn't worked out for a long time (1yr+), and I really felt like I got a full body workout. You will sweat but the class goes by really fast, because it's upbeat and the music definitely helps. I literally felt all of my muscles wake back up again and it was such a nice feeling after class. The only thing I wish they had was a shower in case we have to go to the office afterwards. The next day, I could tell that my mood was better, my diet was better, and I had a lot more energy. I couldn't wait to go back. I actually signed up for their $99 Intro Month package and I've been going 3 times a week. If you go 14 times in your Intro Month, you get free sticky socks :) Otherwise, your first class, you'll need to buy sticky socks for I think $25. I've already taken 5 Pure Barre classes and I've had a different teacher each time. Each teacher's style is different which I like because you work a different part of your body. For example, one teacher will really work abs, one will spend more time at the barre, one will focus more on arms, etc. I like the variety. I haven't take the Pure Empower or Pure Reform classes yet, but I heard Empower has a cardio component for weight loss and Reform uses the gliding disks to built strength. Can't wait to try those out too tbh. Before Pure Barre, I did spend a couple of years in dance and I also did Bikram Yoga for 10 years. I highly recommend Barre if you want a complete workout in a good environment. Pure Barre at this location is fantastic! There's a big parking lot so I never worry about finding a space ( unless you come in the middle of the day...) and the girls are always so friendly and welcoming. I tried my first class a few weeks ago and it was a killer workout so I have been on working to incorporate this into my workout routine. No matter what class I go to the teacher has always been friendly, helpful and most importantly worked me so hard I was sore for days! Class is fast paced and I was so lost the first few times, but you get the hang of it after a few classes! I still can't keep up sometimes and that's ok. I like that the teacher walk around and help you adjust so you get the most out of your workout. IF you are considering trying barre this is a great place to test the waters. read more

I go to both the Central West End and Ladue locations. I'm not a fan of Barre classes so I've honestly never tried those and I didn't like the sound of the Empower class description but I am a loyal Pure Reform client. I basically come for Claire. She is a considerate and motivating instructor who really knows her stuff and leads by example. She is well worth the drive, price, time, whatever the obstacle is for you. I've seen this class transform people's bodies and as a professional athlete, it was exactly what I needed for cross training. It's accessible for all ages and stages of wellness and is attended by a very diverse age group of women (and sometimes a few men!) Highly recommend. read more

I compare the challenge to my first cross fit session. Taylor was the instructor and was very helpful. The best thing is the class moved at a fairly fast pace so there was no time for boredom. I did Barre years ago and liked it, but PB has made me LOVE it. Everyone at the studio has been welcoming, kind and incredibly helpful. All of the teachers bring a different dynamic to the class, and I love that. I've been a runner, a cardio junkie, a weight lifter, a boot camper and had a personal trainer. Something out Pure Barre is just a step above any other workout. The hour goes so quick even though you are constantly working and pushing yourself. I have been attending pure barre- Ladue classes for a year, and I cannot imagine my life without it! Pure barre is an incredible workout that has gotten my body into shape. I'm fitter, stronger, and leaner, thanks to this workout. I've been to pure barre's all over the country and have found the nicest instructors to be from pure barre Ladue (and pure barre Central West End, same ownership and instructors). It's not just a great workout, it's a friendly environment and a caring community of instructors and students. What sets this studio apart is that they are as nice to newbies as they are to regulars...everyone feels included and feels capable of doing the workout. How many times have I been to exercise studios where I feel out of place and nervous that I won't be athletic enough; not here. The instructors are encouraging, the other students are friendly, and the owners really care about the student experience. I'll start off by saying that the women at this studio are wonderful! I have never met such a kind, dedicated, and passionate group of ladies who truly want you to succeed. Their skill level as far as instructors is top notch. They're so patient and always willing to break it down or correct my technique so that I get the most out of class. Pure Barre itself is quite a workout, especially if you are really out of shape like me. I decided to take up classes because I was looking to tone and tighten, as gravity and laziness have really taken a toll on my body. The moves look amateur and easy, but when you actually do them, you feel the burn and the shake. I loved that each move can be customized to be more challenging if you want to take it to the next level. I took about a dozen classes and could feel results. With all that said, I haven't been back lately. My $100 1-month special ran out and I can't quite afford the other packages at the moment. Depending on the number of classes you purchase, per class cost can range from ~$17-22, so there are definitely options available. I'm considering cancelling my gym membership so I can go back sooner! A few other random things... studio is really clean and temperature is good. People of all ages and body types attend (i know that makes some ppl feel more comfortable). I like their online system- you can purchase packages and sign up for classes from your phone. They have a little shop in the front of the studio where you can buy cute clothes and workout items. I LOVE this studio AND the staff! I recently moved to STL and had been dying for a pure barre studio to open here since it was super popular in Seattle, where I'm from. When I finally heard this studio was opening I bit the bullet on a $22 dollar class and thought why not? I arrived early to make sure I had time to fill out paperwork/let them know I was a newbie and to help a sista out. The lady at the front desk (wish I remembered her name) was so nice and happy to have me there bright and early on Sunday morning. Brittany was my instructor, she showed me the studio and took a few minutes to show me some moves and teach me some "pure barre lingo" before class started. She was so nice and easy to follow! My first class was intense. Brittany kicked my butt, in a good way, of course. However since I wasn't used to the Pure Barre work out (I'm a runner) half way through I got extremely dizzy and felt really really hot. I left my spot at the bar and sat out for a few minutes. Brittany checked on me to make sure I was okay and didn't judge me for needing a break- but instead was just genuinely concerned as to if I was okay or not. After class Brittany and I talked and decided I should probably drink more water to stay from dehydrating myself. The next day? SO SORE. I could hardly move but I knew I had to go back and give it another go. Beth taught my next class- total sweet heart and always calls me out by name when I'm doing a move with good form. Not to mention she helped me figure out I wasn't actually dehydrated but that I was forgetting to breathe- OOPS! Overall? I'm hooked. After just 9 classes within about a month I can see and feel the differences in my body. I'm a runner so this is an awesome addition to my cardio. My fiancé has also noticed my added energy and BETTER moods! I have a tough work schedule so making pure barre classes is hard unless I wake up really really early or go on the weekends but I literally get so excited when I have the time to make it to a class. Yeah I said it, EXCITED to go work out! The women here are all so nice and really want to help you better yourself. The classes are hard to follow at first, but thats to be expected. Keep going. It gets better, but trust me it doesn't get any easier. :) My advice? Give it a shot. The money is nothing compared to the confidence and strength that Pure Barre gives me. read more

I will admit I was nervous to start Pure Barre, I didn't want to look foolish not knowing what to do but somehow I got myself to go and haven't stopped. I now go to the 6am class 3x a week. I like that you sign up for the class beforehand and it holds you accountable. The instructors are encouraging and help correct your form (it's amazing how much a minor tweak can burn!). The music pumps you up and the exercises are low impact but burn! I love the way I feel after class. I'm already noticing small improvements in my form and my strength and I'm only going on my third week. I absolutely love Barre classes! It is a great, no impact workout. I usually run and before barre, lifted weights. I feel I stand up straighter and I feel that my body is actually changing shape! It is quite a workout that leaves me sweaty and feeling muscles work in new ways. Each instructor is very welcoming and knowledgeable. I love the way they walk around and help me get into the move to feel my muscles shake even more! I have recommended barre classes to many friends! It is an amazing workout. I have now tried a one month membership (or 10+ classes) at three different bar/barre practices in St. Louis and I can safely say this is my favorite! In general, the workout here was more fast paced than most other studios, and I walked away feeling like I had genuinely had a great full body workout. First Class: I walked in for my first class and the teacher as well as the girl who was behind the desk were incredibly welcoming and seemed genuinely excited to have me trying the studio. The teacher took time to walk me around the studio, show me exactly where I could change, store my bag etc., use the restroom, find the aids for class (weights, tube, ball, etc.). She also took a few moments to talk me through some of the "lingo" that the studio uses. Some I was familiar with from other studios, some I wasn't but I still appreciated that she took the time. She also warned me that the class moves quickly, and reminded me to listen for her voice, and look at the other instructors taking class if I got lost, or to look at correct form. The classes certainly do move quickly which can lead to that embarrassing moment where my legs are still in a diagonal and everyone else is ... not ... but everyone seemed to be engaged in their own workout, not really noticing that I was a move or two behind. Other Students: I found my classmates to be friendly and helpful. It was clear that the veterans knew each other, but I still felt welcome. There has also always been at least 1 (sometimes 2) other teachers taking class with you that they point out so you can look to them for form/moves etc. Teaching Style: The teachers I have taken class from are all very encouraging and helpful. They will praise students while still on the mike but move the microphone away from their mouth to give a correction so that their reminder to "tuck" or move this way or that isn't broadcast to the whole class. I cannot express what a difference this makes - especially as the new kid in class! Space Itself: The space is clean and comfortable in both this studio and the CWE studio. Each has a separate changing area as well as restrooms so that restrooms are not bogged down with those changing from work etc. Cleanliness: This is also the first studio that I have attended that cleans its mats, balls and tubes every class! I was always a bit grossed out elsewhere when mats were used, sweated on (at least a little), and then returned to a stack. Price: It is pricier than the other studios in town though not by a huge margin. The ability to go to CWE or Ladue, and the number of classes available outweigh (for me) the cost differential. Overall, 100% worth the trial unlimited membership. I am happy to have found the studio I plan to practice at going forward. read more

I love Pure Barre - I am athletic but have never taken dance or yoga previously. The workout really works out my core! The teachers are friendly and will help you as the class does move quickly. I like that things get switched up frequently as it keeps my interest. I always feel like I got a great core work out when I leave. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Pure Barre Ladue! The entire staff is always friendly and knows every client by name. I have taken classes from almost all of the instructors and am consistently impressed by their level of skill, friendly professionalism, and strength. The positive reinforcement by the instructors is especially awesome - not only do the instructors walk around the room to help you individually get the perfect form, but they also motivate you and tell you how awesome you're doing during class too! I originally started Pure Barre two months ago after being sidelined from my daily running routine by chronic knee pain. Pure Barre was the perfect outlet not only for my restless sidelined energy, but also has had the added benefit of strengthening my supporting knee muscles that are involved in running. I love coming to this class at this studio. I live almost 2 hours away in Illinois and we don't have anything like this. The instructors always make you feel welcome and give gentle corrections to ensure your form is correct and you get the most out of your workout. The class is fast paced and the music is fun so the time just flies. I don't get to come on a regular basis so it takes a minute to figure out exactly what move I'm supposed to be doing but the instructors generally repeat the cue several times. If you haven't tried Pure Barre, do yourself a favor and come here - it isn't a high impact workout, but it gets your heart rate up and is very effective on shaping your body! read more

I have struggled to find a workout that keeps me motivated, interested, and ready to come back time and time again since moving to STL for grad school- but this is it! I will not ever want to step foot in this location again. They were very rude and kept asking us whether we are going to buy anything and was completely mad that we ate a cracker without buying a package. We were barely there for 5 minutes and they've asked us 5 times if we were going to buy anything and that we couldn't eat anything without buying something. I have taken several barre classes in the st.louis area and this is my favorite. It really concentrates on muscles you never knew existed. I used to primarily do cardio but my body needed to tone. My boxy body has changed shape and I am finally seeing a waistline. The only downside is that classes are very crowded. Sometimes you literally hit your neighbor at the bar.
