This place has been an absolute nightmare from the moment we signed up. The initial installer told us from the get go that we did not have a good setup for this service but said he could make it work and drilled a hole in our wall to make it work. After putting it next to our washer and dryer, up against the wall and a terrible installation, it leaked all over and has ruined the dry wall and other parts of the home on top of causing the last two water bills to increase 300% of what we were paying before installation. When we had a tech come out to check and "fix" the problem, he told us he took a bunch of pictures and attached them to the service report and that PureH2O would send a certified contractor out to estimate the cost of repairs and get it done for us. All we wanted was for them to take the system back because we hadn't made a payment on the system as of that time. We were told "do not wait for the company to call you, stay on them and they will take care of it". They claim to have fixed the leak so we started the process to get the home fixed. (We wanted out of the whole entire process but they told us there was only a 3 day return policy which makes no sense because we didn't know the extent of the damage and leak until we received our first water bill at $160 for the month. Upon discussing the options with them they continually told us "we will make this right". Since that conversation, a service manager came out and tried to tell us all of the ways we needed to cut into our air ducts or wall to provide a new space to put the system. When we refused to adjust the integrity of our house they said the system could stay where it is and we shouldn't have any more problems with it. After speaking to another person this morning, they told us that all of the things we said happened didn't happen and that the people who serviced our system did not take pictures and told them there was no damage to the home. (We have pictures and video and both service techs stated they took pictures and saw the damage as well). They also stated the original installer put in the report that there was no dryer or washer when they installed the system which was a complete lie that we have proof of. Long story short, this company sucks and I would not recommend. They will lie to you, try to turn the blame on you, and not honor anything that they tell you they will do to "make it right". Part of my short term goals in my life now is to make sure no one else falls victim to this criminal company. Do not do business with this company, you will regret it. read more

Also known as RAINSOFT. They send reps out to local HomeDepots and have them do "water surveys" with whatever unsuspecting customer will stop to talk to them. DO NOT fill out these surveys, trust me they do not care one bit about your water. They will call you relentlessly and when leads dry up they will call surveys that are years old. They set up an appointment to test your water and send a "tech" to your home to do a "water test" for you. Idk what they're testing or if the test is even valid because it's just a part of the scheme to sell you a ridiculously priced water softener. I mean these things are $8,000+. If you're part of a couple and only one of you will be home they will refuse to set the appointment bc they know 9/10 times one partner will not make such a large purchase without the other person knowing. They won't go out to apartments at all or homes under a certain price. Obviously none of it is about your water, if you really feel like you need a test buy one and do it yourself, if you're in need of a water softener save yourself the hassle and get a water boss, they work just fine. read more

I am writing this review to express my disappointment with this company. My wife called to schedule our 1st yearly maintenance service. We were told that the first service fee is typically waived but because we called after the year mark, it could not be waived despite it still being our first maintenance service. My wife explained to the service representative (whom she said was extremely rude and unaccommodating), that we were told that PureH20 would be contacting us to arrange the yearly inspections, by their representative at Home Depot. The rep said it didn't matter and that we should have read the paper work. I just think that this was very unprofessional and that the company could of given some grace since it was our first year with them and especially since it was their representative who told us their company would be calling to schedule the maintenance. As a company, I don't think this is how you should treat your customers and that some effort should of been given to rectify the situation. I will certainly tell anyone who's listening of our experience, PureH20 and the rep that spoke with my wife should be ashamed in my opinion. Even if that is policy, the service representative did not have to be so disrespectful and the company certainly could have made a one time consideration. FOLLOW UP REVIEW: I want to say I appreciate Rob from Pure H20 who called yesterday to address the situation. Rob was very polite and listened to my complaint and was very apologetic. I have to admit I do not like showering in softwater. However, my wife chose to purchase the unit, so we have it. So far installation hasn't gone as expected. The initial installation occurred within 24 hours of purchase. The location of the incoming water pipe in our house relative to a drain posed some issues. After phone consultations, the installer decided to run the drain hose along the ceiling with the promise of installing molding to cover the hose during the return visit. Additionally, an electrical outlet wasn't convenient so a hole was drilled through the wall at waist level into the adjacent room to use an outlet there. We expected installation to require 2 visits with the second primarily being to repair the hole in the wall to access the water line. Although, the first visit was within 24 hours, I had to call to complain to trigger the second visit more than 2 weeks after the first. The dry wall repairs we completed satisfactorily; however, the promised molding installation was deemed impossible. We're left with a black drain hose running across the ceiling. The lifetime warranty is a wonderful perk. Our unit has been installed for about 3 weeks, and it has been repaired twice. The owner has been responsive and apologetic. She has given us Home Depot gift cards for our trouble. The unit works as promised and provides the softwater we expected. Hence the second star. read more

I recently purchased a water conditioner/filtration and laundry system from Rainsoft. Due to our home's drinking water, we have always bought bottled water. With our new system, the filtration system is now hooked up to our refrigerator's water. We love it! In addition, I no longer have to buy laundry soap. The salesperson was so helpful with explaining our specific water issues. The installer was professional, and respected our property by being tidy. Never again. This company's installation caused extensive damage to the wall, the floor, and the furnishings in the room below. When I finally got them to come look at the installation they explained that a connector was not properly installed and they would take care of that. They didn't do so the first time they came - I had to ask them to come again. I decided that the secondary system that was the problem was not going to be used so they shut it off but the main system could not be reprogrammed to exclude the secondary system so it started beeping constantly. When they came to take care of that problem they simply shut the whole system down. Why am I paying for a system that has not been functioning for over 2 full years? Rainsoft of Greater Columbus: Watch Out! * There are a lot of water softening systems being sold in the Columbus Area which are just as good as Rainsoft. Consider using another company if you value customer service. We bought a home in the Columbus Area almost 5 years ago and the RainSoft whole house system was already installed. Over the last 4+ years we have had the service technicians out 3 times to have our filters changed and routine maintenance completed. I will point out that the service technicians have so far been very professional and courteous and that we have grown to enjoy water without a heavy Chlorine smell. A few months ago our furnace fan failed and the cost to repair was considerable. Two weeks ago, the fan started making noises again so out comes the service tech from our favorite HVAC company to check on it. He discovered that the RainSoft softener system was installed incorrectly so that the filter and tank drain lines were tapped into our A/C condenser drain line connected to our furnace - completely filling and cramping the PVC route out of the A/C drain pan. This was a lazy installation by someone who did not want to take the extra time to run separate drain lines from the RainSoft unit to the drain in our basement floor (directly underneath the end of the lines about 3 feet). This was also not up to code. Over time, this poor A/C drainage caused the line to back up and water to drip from the condenser unit onto the furnace blower fan - a huge safety hazard. So we called RainSoft asking them to come out and repair the drainage issue with their system so that we did not incur any more hefty furnace repair bills. I thought this would be a cut-and-dried scenario. After the technician from RainSoft installed new, separate lines, he presented me with a bill for service. Naturally, I was hesitant to pay the bill considering the circumstances which led me to call them in the first place: a sizable cost to a failed furnace fan caused by their negligence. I called the company and Rob called me back. AT NO POINT did I get the feeling that he cared about the costs I had incurred from their negligence, and even though I was not asking for compensation for the furnace repairs, he still would not budge on the service fee since the unit had been installed before we moved in: so much for that "LIFETIME WARRANTY" they proudly tout. I thought that at the very least, good business practice on their part would have admitted some responsibility and that they should have waived the service fee - especially considering how expensive it is to have the filters replaced on a regular basis (3 visits over 1000$) and how much business he stood to get from us in the future. I pointed out, and he agreed, that the technicians are supposed to check that drain line each and every time they are out to service. I thought that maybe they would have caught this problem in the installation before it cost me repairs. Rob did not see it this way and explained that as long as they saw water coming out of the furnace drain line, they didn't need to see the actual end of the drain hose. Even if the water coming from the furnace drain line was not from the softener unit, that was good enough for their technicians to check it off. Also, when I mentioned how unsafe this was and that it was a violation of city code, his response was "Do you know how many cities we have to work in? We can't keep up with all of the codes". My family is extremely grateful that our HVAC technician WAS knowledgeable about codes and safety hazards. In closing - you will read these reviews and make up your own mind about your softener purchase. I suggest you look at companies other than RainSoft. Since they all do roughly the same thing - focus on their customer service reviews and you will likely be satisfied with your purchase. Also consider that RainSoft does NOT have a national headquarters where you can voice complaints or seek resolutions. Each franchise is locally owned and run and does not answer to a central office. Columbus only has 1 location - so if you don't like being treated poorly by their sales/ customer service department then you either have to live with it (since you've already dropped $6,000 + on the unit) or drop another $6,000+ on a unit from a more responsible company. Even though we did not spend the money to have this RainSoft system installed, unfortunately it looks like we will be spending in the future for another company to service this unit from farther away or to install a completely new unit with a different manufacturer with more accountability as this situation has damaged our business relationship with RainSoft. read more

We've had our Rainsoft system for 4 months now and are loving it! Our kids were having problems with eczema and all of us had red, irritated, itchy and inflamed skin and very dry hair. Since getting the system, all the skin issues are gone. The water system at the faucet is the best tasting water I've ever had. The kids ask for water all day now! Other benefits - no more water spots on the shower or streaking on the appliances. No more clothes fading in the washer. I know a lot of people with water softeners and they're still not happy with them. This system is more expensive but you get what you pay for. The system, as advertised by salesperson works great. But the salesperson was deceptive about costs and repairs. He used the yellow beads to demonstrate how awesome they clean the water, while showing all the savings from shampoo and laundry detergent, especially with the laundry ozone upgrade. We were advised that our only costs were the purchase (system in garage, sink/alkaline for drinking, and laundry ozone), and the minimal cost for salt that cleans the yellow beads. He even used a math ledger and calculator to show the savings over the "years" of owning the system. True until we hit the first year. Right after the one year no interest pay off, the outdoor system alarm went off with directions to call 888-951-7605. I was informed that various filters need to be replaced - at cost and labor. Confused, I asked to speak with the supervisor, who echoed the same, with "...the filters that clean the water." I explained that the salesperson only used the yellow beads during the extensive demonstrations, that he mentioned lifetime guarantee for all equipment, years of savings... and only cost beyond purchase is salt. He informed me that the Home Depot salesperson would contact me. While still waiting for salesperson, my daughter used Facetime this morning to show me the laundry ozone that was flashing for service. It is unplugged. Hope that expensive piece does not have an annual pay more to continue to use clause also. We have used Home Depot for professional installations, equipment, power tools, plants, lawn.... I am very disappointed that the Home Depot name brand is connected to this experience. It appears I will have to follow-up with Home Depot this next weekend. Maybe others have had different sales experience. If all servicing was included, as we were led to believe, the expensive system was barely at the selling point for us. When not, just factor out the "how much you can save" and add hundreds of dollars each year to payments. So they have a really good sales pitch to show you the nasty stuff in your water compared to their water. It is very compelling and makes you a little concerned. They also promise you, since they partner with the Home Depot to get clients, that you can purchase all your future filters and products from the Home Depot. Not true. You need to use their technicians at $119 a trip + materials, or you good your warranty. I ordered the soft water system with the RO drinking water and have been happy with the water. The service the company provides needs some help. I noticed my screen on the computer was malfunctioning, and had the company come out for their annual service and maintenance and assumed the technician would see this and fix it. I never touch it as I assume it is always working. I checked on the screen a couple days ago as I was putzing around in my basement. Shocker still broken. I called the company and asked about having it fixed and they said we will gladly send someone out for $119 to take a look. I am pretty upset that the technician didn't do anything about this, and am very peeved about the poor lifetime warranty and 100% satisfaction guarantee they claim. My bad for not reading the other Yelp reviews first. Hopefully they can learn from this experience. ** Buyer beware ** I purchased my water softener and reverse osmosis from Rain Soft in 2011. When it was purchased the installer explained how often each filter needed replaced and I could save money and replace them myself. I did this for the first five years then when the center filter needed to be replaced I had a technician come out and do that and look over the equipment to make sure everything was still good. He said yes everything looked good, that was late 2017. I received a water bill November of 2018 and it was very high, $301 for a house where 2 people live. I chalked it up to my daughter taking a lot of soaking baths and asked her to take fewer. My next water bill came and it was $490.24!! I went to the water company and asked how this could be, I checked my toilets to make sure they weren't running. I looked under all the sinks, no dripping faucets, no obvious water leaking anywhere! How could that be? The lady from the water company called me and told me to check my water softener... As it turns out the water was running through the water softener straight into the drain, 46 CCF worth! To give everyone an idea of how much water that is, 1 CCF is 748 gallons. There was no alarm, no emergency shut off, nothing in place for when the equipment malfunctioned! I called the office and spoke with the very nice lady there she said the manager would possibly help with my water bill or waive the $109 (I think) service charge. She was sadly mistaken. Rob said it was because they didn't service the equipment in 2018 and he wouldn't so anything. Being that I didn't know this could be a failure on the equipment it wasn't something that I looked to when my bill started rising. Anyone who purchases something from this company just know that if the equipment fails there is no empathy or assistance from them to get the product back to working order from them without a gouging service fee, no matter what you've already had to put out. read more

BUYERS BEWARE! I like the unit itself but my complaint comes with the company and the sales techniques they use. I, like many others, welcomed them in my home to try to sell me a $6,000 unit that I didn't think I needed. As the presentation went on, I gained interest and purchased. My most important question was simple. I knew I would be selling my home in the next year or so, so I had asked if they move the unit. He quickly said, "of course we do. The first move is free." This was very important to me. So the day has come to move. I called to schedule and the secretary agreed that one move is free. I scheduled the move and was then connected to the service manger, Rob, who then explained that the sales guy, Gerry and the secretary was indeed incorrect and my move would cost ALMOST $750.00....yes, $750!!!
