I have been going to Pure for a few years. Peggy, the owner, has always done my hair and Morgan washes it. During the pandemic, I was looking forward to getting my hair done when they finally reopened. A few months ago, I received a text from them asking if I wanted an at-home color kit to do my hair myself. In the text, they spelled my name wrong. It's not Irene, it's Ilene. That's very disrespectful. I didn't appreciate my name being misspelled when I'm a regular customer.
When they were planning to reopen, I made an appointment. Peggy told me everyone has to sign a contract stating that they will follow the COVID protocols, including wearing a mask. She emailed me the contract to sign digitally, which mentioned a $3 "cleaning supply" fee to cover the cost of all the cleaning products used to sanitize the salon. This fee wasn't mentioned prior. It's wrong to place the cost on clients- it's your business, you should buy what you need to clean the place! Seems like an excuse to profit off of the pandemic.
I signed the contract. Peggy later texted me telling me she was having issues opening it and could I print it out and bring it in? Um, no. My printer was broken but should why I, the client, be inconvenienced to print out YOUR contract using my ink and paper?
If you're having such technical issues opening a simple contract, maybe you should buy a new computer... or someone who knows how to work it.
I said I would sign it when I got there, which is what I did.
I got a single process and trim. My hair was washed by Morgan. Normally, they double shampoo, condition and give a head massage. All I got was a single shampoo. No conditioner. No head massage. Nothing.
She charged me $75 for the color plus an extra $10 for the "extra color" needed on my hair. Do they charge someone who is fully gray $100 more because they have more hair that needs to colored? How ridiculous.
She charged me $50 for a trim that she spent literally 30 seconds on. She put NO product in my hair. This is beyond taking advantage- normally my wash, cut and blow dry is $70. I barely got a wash and only had a trim, not a cut.
She offered me two samples of a product to try, which I took with me. This was only after I expressed interest in purchasing a product which she was sold out of.
A couple days later, I went to use the samples and BOTH of them were empty. No product in them whatsoever. It seems like she emptied them out before giving them to me because she brought them from the back of the salon. And SHE gave these two to me, I didn't randomly choose samples in her bucket.
I texted Peggy to let her know they were empty and she apologized, acting so surprised. She claims she's out of samples (even though she had an entire bucket of samples 2 business days ago) and didn't even offer to get me another.
This was done on purpose, no matter how many times Peggy says "Oh I had noooo idea so sorry!" You might play dumb by claiming you didn't know the samples you gave me were empty but you're really dumb to think I would buy it.
I don't play your immature games.
Pure only has "clients" because of Peggy's snobby friends who have nothing to do but get their hair done and complain about their rich husbands. She doesn't treat everyone equally and sees you as just a dollar sign. All of the positive reviews are from her friends I'm sure.
She is constantly checking her phone while working on your hair, which is beyond rude.
Their business practices are shady. I don't appreciate being lied to. Clients are not valued here.
This salon is a wannabe but will never be. Take your business elsewhere. read more
