A few days after purchasing it, I needed a last-minute blowout for an event and couldn't get in with my usual salon. I called Salon JM and tried to make an appointment to use the voucher the following day. They couldn't accommodate me for the cut and color portion, but only had time for a blowout. I asked if making this appointment would prevent me from using the Groupon at a later date (since the fine print said it was for new customers). I was told it was fine, since I had purchased the Groupon as a new customer, and I was going for a different service. I reconfirmed this in person when I went for the blowout. Imagine my surprise when I called back a couple weeks later to make an appointment for the deal and was told they would not honor it. Again, I explained that I WAS a new customer when the deal was purchased, and the only reason I had gone for just a blowout before redeeming the deal was because I couldn't get an appointment for the whole thing. They weren't even open to using the amount of the voucher towards the full price of the service - I would have been fine with that! Instead, I was told to deal with Groupon, and then they hung up on me. They didn't even ask if I wanted to proceed without the deal! It's a shame because they did a nice job with the blowout, but I would absolutely not go back here. Clearly they aren't interested in the business. There are enough salons in this area - I don't need to deal with one that's rude and sketchy.

She is also super nice, has a beautiful salon and makes you feel comfortable in her chair! After a lengthy online search, and being captivated by her salon's positive reviews, I quickly made the call for a free consultation. I was wearing hats all summer long to conceal my over-highlighted hair as I desperately wanted to go back to my original, natural and healthy-looking brunette color. I needed a hair magician to bring my hair back to its former glory and had a gut feeling Nicole was my ticket to hair paradise. During my free consultation with Nicole, she was confident I could make the transition back to a healthy-looking brunette vs sun-drenched, dry-looking, highlighted hair (my words, not hers). What I appreciated most is that she was honest; and advised me that to achieve a more natural-looking hair color, it would take some time to get there, but it was not impossible. My roots were super healthy and I had shown her previous photos of my hair without highlights, so she knew it was achievable. The game plan involved a gradual return to my original color. It was a commitment I was willing to make: 2-3-sessions of toner, cut off all the dry ends (immediately stop using blue-toning shampoo+conditioner) then gradually add lowlights once my highlighted roots were grown out a few more inches, so she could match them perfectly. Which, over the 3rd visit, she miraculously did! At my first visit, Nicole did a "root melt" along with applying a toner after she had dry cut all my dead ends off. Within the first visit, my hair already started looking like its healthy self again and I was amazed! My hair finally had volume and movement with natural waves and no more dead ends. It looked like a new head of hair. I was thrilled!!! Regarding other aspects of working with Nicole -- her salon space is cozy and inviting. She brewed loose leaf tea (my fave is peppermint), which I greatly enjoyed while you listening to zen music. I also love that the space itself feels open and airy, does not smell of any chemicals (like other salons) as she only uses organic products. With very sensitive skin and a scalp that is prone to dryness, I appreciate not having any harsh chemicals on my scalp or near my face. Also, the lighting is super mellow (no overhead lights) or loud music you don't want to hear. A completely chill experience all the way around. THANK YOU, Nicole, for bringing my hair back to its former glory. I cannot thank you enough for resurrecting my hair and for being so cool to talk to while we chill in your salon! I went to get a hair cut from George. I read his reviews and all were good. I have medium length…read morehair with long layers. I haven't had a haircut in 7 months. I was looking at my phone for a few minutes and by the time I looked up he was done cutting. I asked if he cut a certain section and he said he did. He then commented how it only takes him 15 minutes cut hair. He asked me if I wanted choppy layers or regular I don't care so he gave me choppy and then curled my hair. A few days later when I blew it myself the choppy layers looked like my toddler cut my hair with rusty scissors. I questioned myself whether I was being too harsh. I waited until my daughters came home to ask them how it looked. Their reply was the same as mine. I called the salon up, explained what happened and one of the owners couldn't have been nicer. I went in and she cut my hair. She also said it only takes her 15 minutes to give a layered haircut. I'm not sure why this is something that stylists feel they should brag about. Doesn't precision take time? I left there feeling a lot better. The owner fixed my hair so of course it had to be better, right? One would have thought and definitely would have hoped. The only difference was that the rusted dull scissors had now hit other parts of my head. Again, it looks like my toddler cut my hair. Nothing blends. It's embarrassing to go out. I now have to have someone fix the mess she made. This horrible unprofessional haircut is costing me too much money and a lot of time. If you want any type of hair style besides one length and straight I DO NOT recommend you go to Moxie Salon in Westwood, soon to be opening a new place in Montvale.
