We live right behind this church and it is a beautiful campus. However, we had a financial need (I believe it was for mortgage or utilities) but nonetheless we called and asked if they offered financial assistance and they said they only help their members in the church. I was shocked because that is not "Christ-Like" as far as helping and ministering to others because Christ never limited Himself in loving and caring for his people. I lost all respect for this church and the pastor should be ashamed of himself for running a ministry like that. It's churches and ministries like these that give people a bad taste in their mouths about Christianity. From the peaceful grounds surrounding the campus to the staff, this is a place that welcomes everyone regardless of where they are on their journey. The members are a mix of all backgrounds, many of whom left their previous churches because they were looking for someplace that felt more connected to their everyday struggles or experienced judgments that made them uncomfortable. The services are contemporary and diverse. The pastoral staff is recognized throughout the nation as one that excels in bringing messages of relevance and importance to the community. And the greatest thing is that this is all done with a healthy dose of humor and relatability. There is seldom a week that I leave thinking that somehow the message had been directed solely to me. One of my favorite things is their community outreach programs. Whether it be feeding the hungry, participating in habitat for humanity, handing out water during the summer, or providing free gift wrapping during the holidays, their sole aim is to let people know that they are not alone in life. Pure Heart Church seems very open to new believers and has a wonderful pastor (Pastor Dan). My fiance and I joined back in October and attended on and off until February, when we decided to commit to it as our home church. We volunteered in a community outreach day and attempted to connect with others, which was difficult. My fiance and I also did not have a good experience with the marriage ministry. We are new to the Valley and it is important to us to meet others who are people of faith in our community. This ministry was not open to anyone attending events without their spouse/significant other, which did not make sense to me at all. We attended a small group even together and were both invited to a young couples event (which he was not able to attend due to a prior commitment). When I RSVPed for myself, I was told that I cannot attend without him which made me feel inadequate and insignificant and as if I was not welcome in this ministry without him despite the fact that I would be representing both of us. While I understand that it is a ministry geared at couples, I did not understand why I could not represent both of us at this one event that I was looking forward to. I was told that I would be "alone", however if the goal is to meet other young couples, wouldn't I be speaking to them? I was disappointed to witness this kind of treatment from a community of believers, especially as I tried to become connected and meet people (especially young couples) in the Valley. read more

Pure Heart feels like home to me. After visiting many churches from my teen years to adulthood, my boyfriend (now my hub), took me to Pure Heart. We attended another nondenominational church that aimed to attract young new believers. The worship was like a rock concert and the pastor was a fast talking, funny leader. That place was nice, but did not feel like home. Pure Heart is a large campus that has much to offer. They have volunteer and mission opportunities, small prayer groups, a pantry that offers food and clothing, youth services for children of all ages, and even a cafe. They also offer marriage classes and even host leadership conferences that collaborate with other churches. The worship team sings beautifully and the accompanying band is extremely talented. Some songs they choose are intimate and others are upbeat. Pastor Dan is an exceptional authentic human being. He resonates with me because he is honest and open about the things he struggles with as a leader, a husband, a father and as a Christian. And It doesn't hurt that he also very funny! I highly recommend visiting Pure Heart a couple of times even if you already have a church that you attend. read more

In the past, the church showed close ups of all the worship people on the stage. For about a year or so they now exclude close-ups of the people doing sign language, from live worship and also the welcome videos. I just feel this is a major form of discrimination. I have talked to many people who attend regularly about this. I have heard that the group requested not to be videotaped by the back booth. I was thinking that was odd, so I asked the group personally and they were shocked because they never requested not to be videotaped. They said they do want to be videotaped for public awareness to promote the wonderful ministry they have so more Deaf will show up. I spoke to a "pastor" who is now an "executive pastor" and he flat out just ignored that this is a problem. He used many many words why they do a great job with the group and flat out, changed the subject and ignored my inquiry about close ups with the signer. He did however say they have their own uploads. I checked it out, but I don't want to just watch a signer on my computer, after I just finished going to the same sermon, I want to see it live while its happening up close and personal on the the two large screens. I thought maybe it would get better, but it has only gotten worse!! In my opinion, if your going to show close ups of guitars, drums, violin player and every single person every week and intentionally omit one member of the worship "team" who uses sign language, is certainly not Christian behavior and they are hypocrites. Other people enjoy the use of sign language too, and if they are not showing the occasional close ups of the signers, then the shut-ins and other online viewers miss out on this opportunity. My friends have commented that the sign language allows them to experience God in a whole new realm, it is not just for the deaf it is for anyone. They should be included as the rest of the team is included. Needless to say they have a saying that "is OK not to be OK, but it is not OK to stay that way". Well, I am NOT OK with this and I have tried everything in my power to try to get them to change. Basically, if the "executive pastor" who oversees this area of ministry can't accommodate this to correct this blatant and audacious wrong doing and narrow-mindedness then I can't stay to here because I will never be OK with that. They showed close ups of the signers in the past and now refuse? I don't get it. I am pretty certain with the power trip this guy has he never asked the group what they need to be more effective in the ministry. It's really sad. I wonder what other areas suffer in this place. Went to Sunday Service and "Pastor Money" was at the alter...Yep, the guy gave the whole "Oh I never talk about giving....But..." Our first service and it's all about the green in our accounts. My wife decided to give it another try and went to a women's event two days later... (This is Steph) Yeah, the social "Bloom" was anti-social...Nina gave it her best on stage...give it up praise chop....Phony and fake! Smiles on stage but when I tried to talk to her and ask about the church the holy cannoli bit my head and tried to talk down to me....When she realized I was visiting, she tried to change her tune!
