I've never reviewed a church before but felt called to. The Bible says, "The Lord delights in his people" (Psalms 149:4) and I know that I was privileged to be part of his delight this past Sunday with Pastor Noe. Have confidence that this is a solid Bible based Southern Baptist church with a focus on God's word and spreading the gospel to all people. What I've felt is compassion and a desire to work together to share the truths of the Christian faith. God's presence was palpable this past Sunday. The energy in the chapel in my perception was unique in a good way. Worship Pastor David Toledo had extra pep in his step which is hard to fathom because week after week he joyfully shares his faith through his gift. While in prayer I could feel many people opening their hearts and accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior. What a privilege to see so many of God's children accept Salvation. I'm a child of God just like you and have felt hostility on some social media platforms and in other groups that try to discredit our Christian faith. North Phoenix Baptist is a place where you can openly express your faith and grow in your Christian Faith. There is no wrong way to arrive, come as you are and you will be welcomed. I've been looking for a "home" church in the valley and have even branched out to scottsdale too... church visit after sermon after sermon I was feeling more and more out of touch with the new church trends that seemed to be a constant in just about every church I was visiting. Random pop songs to sing, TV screens instead of real live pastors, and super short 15 minute commentaries also with zero to little mentioning of bringing your Bible or reading directly from it... I was getting discouraged. Finally, I decided to try one more church having high hopes that they called themselves a Baptist Church. I fell in love and found my home church after a big move! Thank God! Beautiful worship music, incredibly knowledgeable, relevant, and encouraging pastor, welcoming staff, huge space for plenty of seating/ comfortability, location is not far, and most important Biblical truth being fed to myself and my partner. I've attended this church for almost 3 years now, and what a blessing it has been. I've grown so much Spiritually from the teaching and there are so many opportunities to serve within the different ministries. It's not your typical Baptist church. It is diverse ethnically and generationally, but the worship is high-energy and the teaching is Gospel-centered! I'm sad to see some negative reviews on here concerning the pastoral staff, because that simply is not the case. I work full-time at the church and being able to see the hearts of the pastors close up from Monday-Thursday has been amazing and seeing the vision they have for this church is exciting! Not religious? No problem! We're talking roller skating, weightlifting and weight loss. You see, all this Yelping has helped me pack on the pounds to the point where I decided to rejoin Weight Watchers (I'm a 2-time, lifetime member, going for try number 3, sadly. More than halfway to my weigh loss goal this go-around, though!). There's a Monday night Weight Watchers meeting in the Family Life Center, which is basically a recreation center. As a result of attending the meetings, I've come to find out about all the amenities, open even to non-church members, that go on here at a really reasonable rate! We're talking a roller skating rink (I think it's $3 including skate rental AND you can have birthday skating parties here), group fitness, free weights, a nautilus/cardiovascular room, handball/racquetball courts, a basketball gymnasium, fit express circuit, a games area and more! They even have locker rooms. They're open Monday - Friday from 5:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 5:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you're not a church member it's $30/month for individual memberships but the real deal is in the family memberships! A family of 3 or more just pays $50 month. Although there's no Family Life Center membership required to attend Weight Watcher meetings. 5 stars for building community and promoting healthy spirits AND bodies!! read more

I've attended 14 churches in the Phoenix area during the past year for my curiosity of how people worship. I was very impressed with North Phoenix Baptist. The senior pastor and worship pastor are both excellent. I'll definitely be attending the Wednesday night service. The vibe was good and everyone seemed to know each other. It's a large church, but I don't know if I'd call it mega because I felt connected to the service without thinking I was just "in the audience". read more

It is unfortunate that the legacy of this church has fallen so far. I was a member for 15 years and left not to long ago because the toxic environment affected so many of my close friends. All men are broken, those in charge of the church should be held to a higher standard. Under current leadership, people are leaving because even those that were hand picked by heads of the church, could not stand to cover up the hypocrisy any longer. I raised my son in this church and until 2 years ago it was our home, but now I would never dream of going back. I am not some cynical christian with an axe to grind, I am truly concerned that the friends I have that still attend will be hurt by someone they should be able to trust. And I'm concerned that new families will be dazzled by insincerity masked as charisma. Leadership needs to be held accountable to Gods word instead of hiding behind it and calling it God's will when they make a mistake. Please pray for this church to be healed. read more

This is a wonderful church in central Phoenix. Pastor Dan Yeary is so kind and caring and has a story telling type of preaching so it's easy to understand. It is Biblically based. Even though, it's a large church there is something for everyone and every age. There are so many small group Bible studies available. People are friendly and they even have greeters in purple vests in the parking lot to assist you. Sunday Bible studies are at 9 am and church begins at 10:30 in the main sanctuary. Hello? I went here once or twice. Decent food. Pastor Yeary was pretty good, kinda folksy. Then some guy named Whalen was there, kinda clumsy. I liked Pastor Yeary for the most part, but there was an inconsistency with teaching here on marriage and divorce. I think there alternatives if you are seeking a family oriented church, like Calvary off 19th and Cactus. Anyway, North Phoenix has nice amenities I guess, if you are seeking that sort of thing for basketball or recreation/exercise, and the food is ok. I had the grilled cheese once, and it was competitive. read more
