I have wanted a tattoo for 20 years. It's something that "means" something very special to me. I went to Pure Image and from the beginning, Tommy, the artist-and I mean artist-got it-and me. I showed him some photos, we talked concepts and I knew this was right. I was certain Tommy could take a picture and copy it, but sometimes you should let an artist do what they do best-create. When I came for my appointment Tommy had 2 rendering-one that was what I was thinking and one that was what I was thinking times 10...Tommy the artist made my vision even better. The final outcome-spectacular! The experience was exceptional as well. A chill relaxed environment-great music and conversation and occasionally the other artist Joel even joined us well. We called ahead of time to make appointments for piercings. He said stop in whenever that day and we got in the car and got there in less then 15 mins. We get there and the owner said the piercer had left and said "get out". We were confused what happen so we went back in to make an appointment and he had locked the door on us. Completely awful service and just plain rude. read more

Super respectful dude, can't remember his name. pierced my nipples correctly after healing from an absolute dumpster fire of a piercer screwed them up at a different place. healed great, process was super quick and easy considering it's usually a super painful piercing and the shop was dope. definitely going back!! read more

So just received a response from Joel the tattoo artist .. apparently wanted to rectify the situation by "trying " to fix his first mistake. Then proceeded to get rude and upset by calling me names, I will post his comments. He also put a nose ring in for my daughter and every night it falls out and she finds it on her pillow in the morning. His response " it shouldn't be falling out". I have been going to Joel for my tattoos for the last 6 years, and have always received incredible artwork. Joel always pays attention to your vision, is respectful, and pays impeccable attention. I have been to most of the shops in and around Rochester over the last 10 or so years, lending support to friends and family, and I will say that even though there are some great places where you can get a great tattoo(Lucky Lotus, Love/Hate), but as soon as you walk into the shop you'll know the difference. It is clean and calm, comfortable, professional, but still intimate. Here you're getting the experience you want when going to a real high quality shop. I can't say enough great things about Joel, his artwork, or Pure Image, so do yourself a favor and go see Joel at Pure Image next time you're in the mood for some body art! read more

I just got home from getting my tattoo. I have to assume it was Joel but he never introduced himself or even gave me his name. I called ahead this morning to see if I could do a walk in, I told him what I wanted and he said he could fit me in around 5:30. Naturally I arrive early and he lets me know that he didn't realize how "big" my quote was and he wouldn't have enough time to do that and the image I wanted. No biggie. We condensed the quote and got rid of the image. Doesn't bother me. Just as he was about to tattoo me, he checked my ID. While getting my tattoo, there was little communication between us. He was talking with two other people in the shop. That didn't bother me either. I jumped in where I could. All in all it was a pretty good experience. He didn't give me any after care instructions or have me sign a waiver to get the tattoo. That was a tad bit bothersome. I was shocked by the price but after talking with some of my friends, the price I paid was normal despite that the fact I was there for less than an hour. I would definitely recommend having an appointment to come here. But I like my tattoo so I guess I shouldn't complain read more

Maybe a couple folks had bad experiences but I have to say, my girlfriend and I, and her daughter, have all been to this shop for tattoos and could not have had a better experience. Joel is great to work with. Can't say the same about a couple other places I've been. read more
