My friend and I had an extremely negative experience at this piercing parlor. Upon getting my lobe piercings, I noticed that one was done at an angle a through cartilage. The piercer did not warn me of this and just shoved the needle through very painfully. I did not sign up for the healing required for cartilage, and I believe it was her responsibility to alert me before piercing. I understand that things happen, maybe you can't tell it's cartilage until you pierce, and I was okay until the piercing became enflamed and painful. The post was not long enough and the swelling was pressing on the butterfly backing (you are not supposed to use a butterfly back anyways apparently). I went back to show my concern and a different piercer acknowledged problems and angle of the piercing, but the owner dismissed my concerns, suggesting the issues were due to my sleeping positions rather than their errors. This felt invalidating. I just asked for longer posts and was told to not sleep on it and take Tylenol instead. They did say I could let the piercings heal over and get them redone, which was more drastic than what I wanted for a simple lobe. I also feel like that is indicating they knew there was an issue with the piercing? My friend's piercing had similar issues with the post not being long enough. The piercer said she could get a helix pierced with a hoop, which also shows their lack of expertise. After several weeks of taking care of the piercings, we both went to a different parlor to get flat back studs with posts ideal for healing and feel much better. The people were nice. I think they just need better understanding of healing and piercing jewelry. read more

I went to get a piece of jewelry from there and the jewelry was $30 and the insertion was $20 so I didn't want to pay the extra because I could do it and the lady held the piercing up to me and said it was my size and I went home and tried it on and it was way too big. So I call to try to discuss the situation and they hang up on me mid conversatio. Overall just rude and were not clear on the instructions. Really upset I waisted my money. read more

I've been tattooed here 3 separate times by Giancarlo. I have another appointment with him already in February! He's very professional and good at what he does. Opposed to most other shops, he has his own room so you're not getting tattooed in front of the entire shop. He's great at coming up with ideas relevant to what you want. I trust him, so I pretty much agree with anything he says. His prices are typical for someone at his skill level. His tattooing style is very unique! The one (positive) downside is the guy is so busy, appointments have to be made months in advance. BUT he's very responsive to email, so you're never left wondering. Also, the shop calls you a few days ahead of your appointment as a reminder, which is super convenient. A lot of people in Rochester have tattoos by Giancarlo. If you're not one of them, I suggest you get on that! ... in a few months anyway. read more

I had a really nice experience here. I had been suffering from pain from a cartilage ear piercing done out of state at another shop for months. I called around different Rochester spots and no one was willing to take me in to look at a piercing they hadnt done themselves. Thankfully Elizabeth was kind enough to see me (last minute without a formal appointment- tho I recommend doing this), clean my piercing, give me a new earring and instructions for after care. I wish I could give this place 0 stars, DO NOT GO HERE. Two months ago, my friend and I went here to get navel piercings. We both got them done by a seemingly kind woman, but as soon as we got home we realized something was very wrong. My friend's navel wasn't pierced, but rather their stomach was. The woman gave them a floating navel piercing and they took it out immediately. The very next day, they went back to try to get a refund and that same woman refused to and claimed that she pierced them correctly even though it was obvious she didn't. Not only did that happen, but I ended up keeping mine in for about two months before realizing she also gave me a floating navel piercing, just not as bad as my friend. Because of this, it obviously ended up getting severely infected even though I took care of it religiously with saline solution morning and night. You can see it at its worst in the photo below. Now neither of us have navel piercings and we're both out $80 as college students and I know if I go back there they'll refuse to give me a refund too. Terrible experience read more

I chose this location after reviewing different yelp reviews to have my first tattoo and had John complete the work. I have a large back tattoo that took two visits to complete. I found the place to be clean, welcoming and professional. Although, the pain was way more prevalent then I imagined it to be especially, when he was inking my spine, I was able to still get through it. Initially, I went into the shop and met with John and he asked me to send him an email with some pictures and ideas about what I wanted. I completed the task and sent him my ideas however, I never heard back from him. As a result, I sent him a few more follow up email eventually, we were able to get in the same page and I had no further problems. Since this was my first tattoo, he recommended that we take multiple sessions however, I was eager to complete this in one visit, this was a mistake. I was only able to complete the outline before I needed a break and we decided to schedule a second session to fill the tattoo in. After my first session, I felt an euphoric high after I got off the table. During my session session, there was no high feeling instead it felt like I was being poked by a thousand needles. John was patient with me gripping on for dear life especially, when we has inking over my spine. I was able to complete about 90 percent when I told him that we would need to turn it into a third session or leave the rest unfilled. He showed me how much we had left and I agreed to just let him complete the work. Long story short, the tattoo came out great and healed nicely. read more

I had a bit of a horror story at the place I got my septum pierced (not this place!!) so I was extremely nervous to come here to get my septum jewelry switched out. It has been 4 months since I had my septum pierced and was ready to get a circular barbell "horseshoe" that I could easily rotate to hide that I had a piercing at all (I am a nursing student and cannot have piercings- very behind the times, IK!) My original septum piercing experience 4 months ago was filled with cold sweats, almost throwing up or passing out and having to get it pierced TWICE because it wasn't straight??? It was horrible. Then the ring he put in was too small so I had to come in the next day to get it switched out to a larger diameter ring- more cold sweats and almost passing out... rough!! So you can see why I was extremely nervous/ preparing to almost pass out again. My experience here was nothing far from fantastic and stress free!!! Price: $15 all together including the circular barbell and $5 placing fee! I am pretty sure he said the piece of jewelry was $11 or $12, but he only charged me $10! He was so kind! Professionalism: The man who switched my jewelry out was kind and didn't roll his eyes at all my questions but rather reassured me at all times. At one point after putting my septum ring in he realized he needed the little ball holder contraption- he got it and came back quick and set it all up, he apologized for the delay (I thought nothing of it- this place was heaven compared to the first place I went to!). He was so kind and considerate! He was great in telling me what he would do before he did it- very appreciated! Environment: the place is cleanly, spacious, couches to sit on while you wait and comfyyyyy seats to sit on while being worked on. The other place I went to had a stool that was hard and slippery. This place has a big long foamed leather table to sit on the edge of at perfect height for him to work and comfort for the client. The actual jewelry change process: It hurt for a split second, but was clear sailing for the rest! He was fast and gentle! He even warned me that I might feel some painful tugging while he put the ball on, but it didn't hurt at all! Overall: this experience blew me away and calmed my fears of piercings because of my last horror experience! I will come here again for any piercings! read more

First off, let me say that this is my very first tattoo after a long and arduous battle with my better so, the tattoo had to be perfect and professionally done. I looked a long time until I happened upon Giancarlo Lopassio at Ultimate tattoo and I absolutely HAD to have him do my work. Giancarlo blew my mind with the work that he did for me. He took the time to lay out what exactly what I wanted and after that, his artistry came out in a flawless piece. He worked extremely efficiently and made me feel at ease while I was laying there feeling the tattoo needle for the very first time. I can't compare the discomfort between his needle work and others but I can say that I was awed at how little pain and discomfort there was both during and after. And the healing time, well let's just say, that in less than 2 weeks after both sessions, the tatto was fully healed and looking great. I can't begin to really tell you how impressed and thankful I am that I happened to find Giancarlo but can definitely say that I would and WILL recommend him to anyone who is looking for a one of a kind, expertly executed tattoo! Where to start? I called the same day I wanted my piercing and they fit me right in. I had Elizabeth. She was absolutely incredible. I got my daith pierced and she was very knowledgable and helpful in aiding my in making my jewelry selections. I was by myself and thus I was pretty damn nervous to have the procedure. But she was very reassuring. It really did not hurt at all. It's been almost 24 hours, and I don't even notice it (unless I mistakenly put my earbuds in which I've done a few times-ouch!) On a whim I asked her about my navel- I had had it pierced, but removed the jewelry a few years ago. She graciously made the time to look at it-and it was still pierced! So I picked out a barbell and she "tethered" it for me to be able to fit the gauge. I literally could not be happier with the service I received. I've never been especially impressed with the jewelry stock or the level of service offered by the owner. She seems pretty arrogant to me honestly. Only once did I risk it and ask her to change a piece of jewelry for me, and I got the impression that she has no idea what she is doing. What should have been a few minutes took fifteen, and she made me bleed. NEVER again. In my opinion, the only thing that saves this place is Shawn Conn. Shawn is a sensational tattoo artist. He's been doing his thing for a long time, and it absolutely shows in his work. Shawn is a beautiful human being all around. I first got tattooed by him when I was around 19 or 20 years old. He's always been honest and forthcoming with his opinions about my tattoo ideas, but is respectful and kind if he needs to nix something for technical reasons. Most recently, I commissioned a digital painting from him for my boyfriend's birthday. He communicated openly and regularly about the subject matter, sent multiple drafts for approval and made changes happily. The entire process was timely and affordable. The finished product exceeded my expectations. Shawn would get five stars from me, while everything else about this place would get one. I split the difference at three stars for this review, because Shawn Conn is a treasure and getting work done by him as an absolute privilege. read more

I got my first tattoo here literally on the spur of the moment. I had gotten my nose pierced here and had a great experience and I had been wanting to get this tattoo for a long time, so when I drove past Ultimate again I just decided to do it. The artist who did my tattoo was Jeff I believe. I told him what I wanted and he made the design quickly and just how I wanted it. The tattoo was pretty small so it only took about a minute. It didn't hurt too bad and it definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My tattoo turned out very nicely and Jeff was reassuring during the process. The only complaint I have is that one of the letters in my tattoo is an E and the bottom leg of it bends slightly down so that's gonna bug me, but it's a nice tattoo and very sentimental for me. $50, it's about the size of a nickel. $50 is their minimum for tattoos. I would definitely recommend Ultimate for tattoos and piercings alike. read more

I went here for my 5th tattoo. I've gotten the rest of my tattoos from a great place in Syracuse (Where I'm from), so I was nervous to go somewhere else but my husband got one from there a few years back that came out great. When I first went in to make an appointment, they were friendly and asked if I had a preference for an artist since I had a simple tattoo that didn't take too much skill. I didn't so they looked for who could get me in first. I like that because in other shops for a simple tattoo anyone can do, they generally give it to a specific person they like or is up to be next in line to get a tattoo no matter when the openings are available. They kept the picture i provided of my tattoo and had it drawn up and ready before I got there. The day of my tattoo, I didn't have to wait long and since they already had my tattoo drawn up they just checked the sizing compared to the location and got to work. I got words written on my lower side and he went fairly quickly but did well. He went over aftercare and healing with me and gave my a pamphlet as well. I was very happy with his work and it healed great. I will continue to go there as my Rochester place for tattoos. read more

Jewelry is sterilized, floors are vacuumed, and the staff is just a lovely group of people. Giancarlo did my wrist tattoo and it looks fantastic. This place was great. I went to get my septum pierced. The woman piercing is a Registered Nurse so you know that everything is going to be clean. She went over the procedure and even told me I don't have an ideal nose for the piercing, instead of just doing it. She left the final decision up to me. I decided to get it done and couldn't be happier. It is a very professional place. They also tattoo here. Nothing is done out in the open, the piercer has her own room as well as each of the tattooers. If you have a current high school or college I.D. you get a 10% discount, or at least that deal was going on when I went(it cost me $58.50). There isn't a great deal amount of parking so if your going on a busy day parking might be hard to come by. read more

I went here for a number of piercings, and had a good experience every time. The piercers are all open, friendly, and very easy to talk to! They give clear and simple aftercare instructions. I wouldn't go anywhere else for a piercing! I also went here for one of my tattoos. It was a very simple design and turned out excellent. However, the artist I had left something to be desired as far as personality goes. He didn't do anything outright wrong, I just thought he could have been a little friendlier. When I first showed up with my ink concept the original artist I thought I wanted to have do it recommended another person there because they were better suited to that style. I was apprehensive at first but I'm very happy with the recommendation. It came out amazing. The shop is very clean and the staff is incredibly professional.
