I rejoined Pit Fit after a few years because life had gotten busy raising young kids. I had joined previously to get in shape for my first triathlon. One of the trainers, Tyler, even completed it with me and I'll be forever grateful for the encouragement and support to achieve the lofty goal I had set out for myself. Fast forward to today - Tawna continues to run one of the best gyms in the area. I had explored promotional rates with other gyms, but none of them lived up to what I was looking for: no nonsense, group weight training classes lead by experienced trainers with thoughtful instruction, corrections and modifications as needed... Oh and easy booking process, ample parking, good music and close to home. They do a great job of rotating different equipment too like battle ropes, kettle bells, TRX, plyo boxes, etc. It's not a huge gym so everyone becomes a friendly face. There are fun competitions throughout the year with t-shirts giveaways that build camaraderie. I also like seeing how many calories I've burned via the heart rate monitor. My only request is that they make a Pit Fit music playlist to share! read more

Hard to believe it's been around 4 months since I joined. It's worth every penny. Every group class I have gone to is different, fun and engaging! I usually burn around 800-900 calories per class. The coaches are friendly and motivating. I also like the small group and not too crowded. Even then, the coaches make sure to see what you are doing and correct your form if needed. I can't say enough great things about Pit Fit! You will lose weight, change your shape and feel great after every workout. It is a well run business with a terrific owner, who attracts and retains excellent trainers. The gym is small and super clean and the atmosphere is chill. The small group training is very personalized, and they will modify for your injuries. I have a bad knee and can only do low impact and I still burn as many calories as the high impact people. It's a full body workout--TRX, weights, ropes, bands, sandbells, weighted balls etc. Never did I think I would be able to handle--or enjoy--this type of diverse work out-- but I do and I keep excelling. I've been coming religiously for almost 2 years and I love it. It has become an addiction and I've rarely been addicted to working out. The clientele is really nice, friendly, low key and you see a lot of familiar faces. Tawna, the owner is very down to earth, knowledgeable and an all around fantastic trainer and wonderful person. She managed large scale gyms and had a dream to open a smaller, more personalized workout studio. She is a great business owner and leader with her finger on the pulse of the place--always striving to improve and trying new things to make the client experience better. Tyler, Brian and Rodney are the trainers for small group training and they are all masters of their craft, delivering consistently challenging (but never boring) workouts. I started classes a few weeks ago and they have been fantastic. I have arthritis in my back and when I let the trainers know, they are very careful to modify exercises as necessary so I don't hurt myself. It's awesome to get that individual support even in small group classes. Tawna and Tyler (the two coaches I have taken classes with) also make sure that I am doing exercises correctly and safely. I am SO happy and grateful to be a FIT PIT crew member! I signed up to get back in shape after quarantine life. I was looking for something safe, easy to access and challenging, yet fun. And I did! I am normally too busy to write reviews, however PIT Fitness deserves my time. I am a 64-year young woman who has always worked 12-hour+ days with constant business travel until COVID hit. Spending more time at home, I realized how weak and out of shape I truly was. My sister talked me into going to PIT Fitness with her twice a week beginning in late September. Tawna Hutchinson is our personal trainer and I am astounded by her professionalism, her training knowledge, as well as her support and guidance during each session. Every week we are pushed a little more and we never have the same routine, same weights or same # of repetitions. We are constantly improving and getting stronger and more fit. As a matter of fact...it was super embarrassing at first, because I had not realized that besides losing my strength, I had also lost my coordination, my balance and my ability to remember multiple sequences. This deterioration can happen to us when we age...but it doesn't have to. So, not only am I am getting stronger, I am recapturing my lost skills. In regards to safety, we work out outside with plenty of distance between us. At the end of every session we cleanse all of the equipment thoroughly. read more

I love coming here! The gym is smaller in size which allows for more individual attention and is super clean! Tawna (the owner) is extremely knowledgeable and really works with you as far as first working within your limitations (I have arthritis in both hips so she really modifies the workouts for me) and then pushing you to do more than you thought you could accomplish. What I love about her is that you know she really wants to see you succeed and will take time to talk to you about your goals and how to go about achieving those goals through a fitness program as well as a nutrition program. I walked through the doors of PITFIT feeling defeated about my physical shape. I was tired, significantly overweight, and unable to do a single sit-up. After my first meeting with Tawna I knew I had landed in the right spot. She connected me with the amazing Tyler who has been helping me regain my strength and vitality. There is absolutely nothing bad to say about Pit Fit. I stumbled across this place through Yelp, and was SO ecstatic to start getting back into shape. I've been a member for a little over a month and have seen quite the difference. I've lost some weights AND some inches. Tawna (the owner) is absolutely amazing. This is my favorite workout place in Glendale. If you are serious about getting in shape and looking for the small studio personalized attention, PIT FIT is IT! Tawna is the owner and she is truly awesome! Not only she is a great trainer who knows her stuff, she really cares for the students and keep us on track. The studio is neat, clean, with towels and water provided. You get to know other members as class sizes are intimate (no slacking! You'll get called out:)) The workout is very challenging and never the same, you will finish each class feeling satisfied that you've gotten an amazing workout while having fun! I met Tawna about 4 years ago when she was teaching classes at 24 hour fitness.. fresh off a lifestyle and diet change, and a nearly 50 lbs weight loss. I was needing to get into the gym to "put it all back together. Despite being in a crowd of sometimes 50 people, there were times I still got that personal feel to her classes, and her energy and motivation was exactly what I needed to jump start my transformation. We both eventually moved on from 24 and fast forward to today and she's opened up her very own space in Glendale. She brings the same style of hiit class that I was used to but in a boutique location. The classes are absolutely great for all levels, and there are modifications for both beginners and experts. Whatever your fitness goals, i believe deep down that her unique style of combining weight training with cardio will help you get there. Every class is unique, and you're getting a full body workout each time. She's great on teaching proper form, and to this day when I attend other classes at other gyms, I always get compliments on my form. And She'll even give you nutrition and diet tips. I love this place and Tyler is awesome! The space is great and has everything you need for a full cardio and strength workout. Tyler is one of those trainers who can (and consistently does) KICK YOUR ASS but still leave you wanting to thank him at the end. Workouts are always fun and focus on the whole person. Tyler really does care. I've had a real aversion to working out for years (the idea itself would stress me out) but Tyler has made all the difference. I look forward to our sessions together. I've been training with Tawna for 6 months and my results are great!!! She's a very good and carrying trainer, I've been doing the classes 3x per week and I love it. I get to work out with other people and that helps to keep me motivated. The prices are so affordable it's crazy! I'm getting a personal trainer for $15 an hour. I've been training with Tawna since 2011. We started at a big box gym in Glendale when I was recuperating from shoulder surgery. I've followed her to 2 other gyms and finally to her own place, Pure Interval Training. This place is the perfect alternative to big box gyms and crossfit nonsense: smart, thoughtful, functional training for people who work out for their health and well-being.
