First visit to Big Alpaca Comics on Babcock Road and found the store to be clean and organized…read more They have a number of long boxes to browse through, although there were not many back issues, with most of the inventory consisting of newer books and recent releases. During our first visit, my husband asked about some blind bags and was told they were sold out. Shortly afterward, there was a discussion about another customer who had made a complaint and another customer who had made two previous purchases and whether that customer would be eligible to purchase a blind bag since they had only made two purchases. Hearing that interaction felt a little odd and contributed to an atmosphere that didn't feel particularly welcoming. As frequent visitors to many comic book and collector stores, this was one of the only times we didn't feel especially comfortable. Overall, the store has a selection of comics and plenty of boxes to search through. One thing that stood out was a sign stating that books cannot be read or looked through because "this is not a library" and must be purchased first. While that may be store policy, combined with our interactions during the visit, it made the experience less enjoyable than we had hoped being our first visit. Collectors looking for newer books may still find some interesting additions to their collection.

Is this shop a hero or a villain? Well after my first experience, I can enthusiastically say this…read moreplace is a hero! They had a great selection of comics. From cgc slabs, exclusives all the way to $1 comics. Loved the vibe of the shop. It was clean. The comics were organized very well. And when I asked an employee for help, who was in the middle of sorting comics, gladly stopped and happily helped me with my question. He was very helpful and kind. Can't wait to come back and pick up some more goodies. They offer some really great services when it comes to signatures and grading as well.

Had an awesome time at Free Comic Book Day at Dragon's Lair in Alamo Ranch! Outstanding customer…read moreservice, a great selection of comics, and an impressive variety of guests at the event. Everything was well organized and created such a fun atmosphere. Can't wait to come back! Loved seeing all the cosplay and community involvement too -- it really made the event special. #Thisistheway #TheMandalorian #Ghostbusters #TheBatmanofSanAntonio

First off, I used to love going to Dragons Lair AR, they had great selection of MTG and Warhammer…read moresets, the staff was all super friendly, and I loved seeing Merlin. But the past couple years I've seen lots of changes. They don't get many new comics in, they never have enough MTG products or OP packs/boxes, and don't even have a limit to how many people can purchase? Their stock is also only plushies and overpriced board games and we really see no reason in shopping there anymore. Today we signed up AND PAID FOR for the Hobbit prerelease at midnight, me and my partner were planning on picking up the kit, and dropping from the tournament and making decks on our own, as I personally don't prefer playing with strangers. Usually we have NO issues doing so. When we went to drop out they had told us we were not allowed and we can't get our prerelease kit and extra packs unless we stay the WHOLE tournament... I asked if this was stated somewhere or a new policy and they didn't answer my question, talked to a different staff and had told me we can stay the whole tournament to get the box or get a full refund. I had asked again why this was not stated to us before we had signed up, or if it was on the website somewhere and the staff had again repeated that it's just not allowed. Currently my partner went to the prerelease, got his kit, and dropped out regardless. This whole situation was frustrating, as we never got a clear answer as to WHY we couldn't drop out when we had already paid for the kit and just wanted to go home? I definitely recommend everyone shopping at Dragons Lair Medical, or Heroes & Fantasies for comics or TCG.

Plenty of room, a separate snack bar/eating area, air conditioning (we definitely weren't sweltering here), and just an overall beautiful building. Five dollars got you a ticket for prize giveaways and a blue band to get in and out as frequently as you would like throughout the day. Of course the time you spent at the show depended on if you were really looking for that CGC 9.9 Walking Dead #1 that sold for $10,000 on eBay recently or basically going through and seeing what was randomly available. The sellers were nice even when you weren't interested in anything or just browsing. I never felt pressured. But I did buy three ***STUNNING*** drawings by artist Tracy Watkins (I haven't had time to add the pics but I will as soon as I'm able to.). He even signed them for us too. :D Parking was not much of a challenge since attendees were in almost constant turnover. This was an afternoon well spent!

The staff mainly stayed at the back desk which I found not bad because it gave me space to find what I was looking for and more. The prices differed and one thing could cost 7.99, another, $22. This place is a sea of movies, music, games, and geeky merchandise!…read more This Movie Exchange is by far the largest I've been to and has an almost overwhelming amount of media to peruse. As with the other CD Exchanges, you're almost guaranteed to find whatever it is you're looking for and so much more. As a fan of martial arts movies, I really enjoy this location as their selection has consistently been better and varied than some of the other locations'. The trade off is that their game selection isn't as impressive. That's not to say that it isn't good, there is in fact a lot to look through, I've just found more hidden gems at other locations. Though I typically skip over the front part if the store during my visits, it is worth mentioning that there is a TON of music to go through and an impressive amount of memorabilia such as action figures and Funko Pop!s, posters, bags and shirts, and a lot more. Everything is fairly priced and there have been instances where I've paid less than what I would have elsewhere or online. If you're a movie buff looking for a quiet place to pass the time, you absolutely have to visit the Movie Exchange.
