I'm a Yelper who mostly focuses on food, but this little toy shop was an unexpected find today as my sister and I were on our way to Seoul Asian Food Market to find some goodies for my snack reviews. I really love how Yelp encourages folks to excitedly seek out hidden treasures in our neighborhoods and in our cities. And that's exactly what happened when Atomic Toys caught our collective sister eye. This shop has an intimate atmosphere and you quickly become friends with (who I think is) the owner. He is extremely friendly and incredibly well-versed in all things pop culture! Not a beat was skipped when I mentioned how much my sister and I need the entire cast of Frasier made into a Funko Pop! series (BECAUSE EDDIE THE DOG IS THE CUTEST EVER!!!). The owner jumped right into our pop-culture-reference waltz and spun us around the proverbial dance floor! We took a look around the well-stocked, little store, and I found the perfect Pop! figure for a snack reviewer: COLONEL SANDERS!!! What I love most about the Funko Pop! collection here is that it's not the readily found one you run into at Target or Walmart. In addition to the Colonel, I spied with my little eye an entire Ghostbusters' scene, Twinkie the Kid, and Marvel's Carnage, to name a few. It may not be a big place, but it's packed with goodies and a real warmth. I can't wait to come back for gifts for others and gifts for MEEEEEE because TREAT YO'SELF!

    POP figures galore!

I got there at 3:20 pm. It was closed until 4 pm. It was a complete waste of time to drive here.

It has more action figures and funko pops than comics but they still have a good collection of comics as well.

Once again Fernanda put together a smooth running event. I do love this event…read more I shop here regularly. So, the opportunity to come & show them more love is okay by me. Their volunteers are always so helpful & knowledgeable. Its why I come back. Well, & the books. I came this time wanting cookbooks. I hadn't ever looked at their selection before. I collect vintage cookbooks, (yes, I use them too. ), I was happy to see the selection they had. I'll be back to look. Definitely adding this area to my focus. Right around the corner from the cookbooks are the vintage books. Well, they had this wonderful little Dick Tracy book. I knew it was coming home with me. Then, when I went to psy they were going to give me the Dick Tracy one. I told them no, I wanted to pay for it, it gives them the money. Isn't that the point!?

The selection is really impressive, especially if you're into Texas history, local authors, antique books, or those special finds you don't usually come across at bigger bookstores - and at a great price. and I could've easily spent way more time browsing - it's well organized and fun to explore without feeling overwhelming. The staff truly made the visit even better. Everyone was kind, patient, and genuinely happy to help or just chat, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal.

Plenty of room, a separate snack bar/eating area, air conditioning (we definitely weren't sweltering here), and just an overall beautiful building. Five dollars got you a ticket for prize giveaways and a blue band to get in and out as frequently as you would like throughout the day. Of course the time you spent at the show depended on if you were really looking for that CGC 9.9 Walking Dead #1 that sold for $10,000 on eBay recently or basically going through and seeing what was randomly available. The sellers were nice even when you weren't interested in anything or just browsing. I never felt pressured. But I did buy three ***STUNNING*** drawings by artist Tracy Watkins (I haven't had time to add the pics but I will as soon as I'm able to.). He even signed them for us too. :D Parking was not much of a challenge since attendees were in almost constant turnover. This was an afternoon well spent!
