It was an impulsive decision to sign for a class that would start in 30 minutes and I'm so glad I did. It was a great class. If you're more experienced, I'd think it'd be a more relaxing yoga class, but if you're a beginner, this is a great class that helps kick off your yoga journey. I liked the fact that our Instructor Linda gave multiple options from easier to more way to make the poses and movements challenging. I'm really interested in becoming more flexible and hope to continue. The only challenge is that I'm not always in town. But when I am, I'll definitely attend yoga classes here. I felt safe entrusting myself, my body into her sequencing. I'm no expert on Yin Yoga, but what I experienced was true to the style of Sarah Powers. I don't think it's a coincidence. Look carefully at the photos in the back of the studio and you'll find one of Sarah and Andrea (!) My ostensible reason for visiting was her David Williams workshop. The workshop ran for four days at a price I could afford. Although the other participants expressed shock and surprise I traveled so far, truth is - what I did wasn't even half so radical as David traveling to India to learn from Patabhi Jois, lol. I'm impressed and eternally grateful that a urban boutique size studio would host a teacher of this caliber. The gathering was intimate - not like those huge, impersonal yoga fests that go off like a rock music concert. The workshop was reasonably priced, the studio has ample parking and the general vibe is clean, well supplied with props, teas, water and goodies were available just like an olde time 70s yoga get together. I had so much fun at the workshop I decided to stay and take a couple of classes from Andrea herself and I was not disappointed. Here's the thing, in order to totally transform you have to let go. Letting go is scary, so you better trust the person you are dropping down to catch you. you can take that literally or metaphorically, take your pick. Alls I'm saying is, here I felt free to go. :)

I can get a package of 6 or 10 classes that don't expire for 90 days! For the business traveler like myself that can't get thier money out of a monthly membership this is perfect. I was a little intimidated when I learned, I would be hanging from the wall during the class, but the teacher walked me through step-by-step, and made me feel very comfortable. The place itself is inside a larger building and in a nice location, close enough to the highway but off the beaten path enough to not be crazy packed with traffic. Sign up was easy and convenient online. Come prepared in tighter fitting (but comfortable!) clothing that covers your underarms and legs (to prevent burning!) and minimal or no jewelry. You definitely don't want to risk getting it hung on the silks! Oh and definitely bring some water. You're guaranteed to be a little (or a lot!) sore the next day. Jamie was our instructor and she was phenomenal! She was so fun, patient, and encouraging. As a first timer, this was very intimidating but Jamie made us feel like pros! The class starts with foundational elements: stretches, a warm up, then basics on the silks apparatus such as foot wrapping and pulling yourself up. We gradually introduced more shapes and the foot knot. The class flew by and was so much fun! It's truly an addicting workout/art form and Jamie's skills were so impressive. I can't wait to go back! Definitely check this place out and have a unique experience with friends, your partner, or fly solo!
