So, as well as cemeteries, I like hanging out in Asian sweet centres. I just love all the bright colours and the different shapes and textures. I don't have a clue what any of it actually is, but I kind of don't want to know - I like the mystery of the neon swirls and neat little squares of ... stuff.
I used to wander in here on a regular basis when I worked off the Soho Road. The staff are lovely, and didn't mind me just hanging around looking at things, occasionally pointing, and even occasionally buying small amounts of things to try. I think they found me mildly amusing. The samosas (now these I do know) were always good, nicely spiced (not too hot, not too bland) and the spring rolls were great. The sweets were really tasty too. I can't tell you the names of any of them, as I don't know them, but everything I tried went down well. I don't have a massively sweet tooth, so, to be honest, it's all a bit sweet for me - but I'm aware that that's kind of the point.
Anyway, it's a lovely store to wander around in, the savoury food is great (and, obviously, plenty of options for veggies!) and the sweets are really well made, and probably delicious if you like that sort of thing. read more
