Unfortunately, I'm sad to say that had a very disappointing experience and won't be returning. The session was fast and budget ($40 for both), easy to schedule on her website, but it came with major compromises on technique and basic sanitation. Soft wax strips were used for both my underarms and the sensitive areas, which led to significant hair breakage rather than clean root extraction. This left a noticeable stubbly texture immediately afterward. There was no privacy setup or draping, and I was asked to hold my own skin folds in place with not much instruction. Additionally, I did not think that she pressed down on my skin after ripping the wax strips off to minimize pain, which I thought was standard in wax school training... Most concerningly, the esthetician repeatedly held the wooden waxing spatula in her mouth between applications during an intimate service. For a procedure dealing with freshly opened hair follicles, this is a serious cross-contamination and basic hygiene concern. No mirror was offered at the end to check the work, and when I told her that I still saw and felt stay hairs, she just responded that the hair was too coarse and deeply rooted. Which for underarms and the pubic area, of course it was! There was no offer to tweeze or clean up the stray hairs. I was then just given drug store equate baby oil to rub on my privates after this. While this setup might work for someone looking for a quick, low-cost wax who isn't concerned about sensitive-area technique or standard salon sanitation, I expected professional safety and hygiene protocols. There was also coffee and/or food on the table underneath the cabinets containing her baby oil and talc powder. I'm not sure but I think that I might even have seen the wax spatula already in the wax pot when I walked into the suite. I sure hope that doesn't mean that she had used it on the previous client before me... Needless to say, I will be using a dedicated hard-wax studio in the future.
