First let me comment that I think all delivery companies working in Edmonton are horrible. Purolator is just the best in a sea of incompetence. Their office is always busy and they don't move quickly so make sure you have time. Like everyone else, there are drop off points all over the city but only one location in the south to pick up and it is in the middle of nowhere. Now for what makes them better than the rest. They will actually look for your name on your apartment buzzer, (others will not) and will send emails/phonecalls if your info is filled out and they can't reach you. The pickup location has tons of convenient parking, and they are open 6 days a week with normal hours. read more

I use Purolator for drop off for my Amazon returns. Set up is excellent in that I use their automatic return set up. Works well. When I've had to use staff they are very helpful. One concern. They have three parking stalls by front entrance for EXPECTANT MOTHERS. Not one but three. In the many times I've been there I have only seen the spots used once and it was not by an expectant mother but a very fat women. When lot is full I use them. Come on Purolator smarten up and quit trying to look so liberal. If you insist on providing parking for expectant mothers one is enough. read more

They won't re deliver packages even though they don't bother to knock or ring the doorbell When they initially arrive. they also don't bother to drop off the package even after you sign up for the "no signature needed upon drop off". WORST DELIVERY COMPANY EVER! Would give zero stars if it was an option. Tracking shows package arrived to my city last Saturday and now says weather delays still on Thursday of the following week and no updates since Saturday. It is +3 degrees here all this week so no weather issues. Live chat never connects, filed a trace online and received no follow up, now been on hold on phone trying to get this resolved for more than 3 hours and still waiting.... Canada Post is on strike so my online order was to be delivered by Purolator. I previously had no issue with them, but this time it was crazy bad. The package arrived in Edmonton on November 19, on the truck for delivery on November 21. They said I wasn't home to receive the package but I know for a fact they didn't even attempt delivery as our building has a front intercom and it rings on my phone if someone calls my unit. I had no missed calls and no door tag was left. I used their online chat and was told to pick it up at a Purolator store. I'm a senior with no car, live near LRT construction so no transit available. It's a 20 block walk in negative temps with a LOT of snow here. Besides all that, I PAID FOR DELIVERY and I'm not picking the package up unless they refund the amount I paid them for delivery! I kept calling and using the chat and finally they put it on a truck to deliver. Of course it wasn't delivered. Then their website said there was a "weather delay" but this was AFTER the big snow dump, so go figure. They can't make it due to a weather delay but expect me to pick it up! Another weekend passed and it was again put on a truck for delivery. I finally received the package on December 2. I received an email stating a delivery was attempted and no one was home and a slip was left on my door. First of all, I was home and I have security footage to back this up and no driver came to my door. Secondly, I phoned Purolator right away and advised them the driver went to the wrong house and the representative said they sent a message to the driver stating for them to drop off my package for sure today at the pickup location here in town ( they did not even offer to redeliver it to my home). I then went to the house where the driver left the slip and it stated I could pick up my package after 3 pm. I went to the pickup location at 4 pm and no package, phoned purolator again and I was told the package was sent back to the warehouse because of a rail derailment in my town and I could pick it up Monday (not delivered to my home) and this is Friday! There was no derailment in my town so that's an out right lie! So now I have to wait till Monday to get my package, total bs. All because of this driver, should lose their job in my opinion! Awful experience. Did not receive package and upon calling the customer service, they were rude and 2 customer service representatives essentially yelled at me. They punched my address into the computer and yelled "it has been delivered". Even after I continually said "I know it was not delivered, I was home at the time of the delivery time". After a third attempt, the representative finally sent my case to investigations. A week later, purolator is on my doorstep with my package as they had delivered it to the wrong house. Waited 5 hours for a pickup with specific instructions for the driver to call my phone and not use the building intercom. I am so tired of companies that use Purolator as a courier. Service has always been terrible with Purolator and it's always a fight to get packages delivered to my building. Our doors were recently locked 24/7 due to breakins in our area. Residents did not feel safe and voted for this change. Unfortunately, that means couriers have to call us ahead of time so we can meet them downstairs. This is not the first time this has happened to me with Purolator - even when our doors were unlocked. Driver left a note saying attempted delivery and drove off without even calling. Yet, I've been home all day. I stayed home for this very reason. I tried calling in the 1-800 number and chat online but could not get an agent on the phone. I finally got one on Twitter who told me that couriers don't call ahead of time and are not equipped with phones. Well, no wonder drivers don't care. I'm not shelling out $20 for a cab ride to pick up a parcel from Purolator, when shipping was paid for with the order. Does Purolator not understand this concept? I mean, really? Is it too hard to grasp? People pay for shipping so they don't have to go to the store or pick up in person. This wasn't my choice of courier. I was expecting a package ordered by someone else. Junk Company cant even deliver a package, Order a package on Wednesday I work out of town, package showed up on Friday morning of course no one was at the house to pick it up, they left a pickup note for Monday at a local company, I called and asked if I could pick up parcel earlier because I work out of town as a shift worker. They said that the parcel isn't trackable in the warehouse and there is no way for you to pick it up on the weekend and it would be delivered Monday to the pickup location and held for 5 days returning on Friday. How is it possible for me to get this parcel? Why wouldn't they just drop it off Friday at the pickup location. If I could give zero stars I'd certainly try. I ordered a pair of winter boots via a store who ships using purolator. The boots shipped fast and I noticed they were literally shipping from a store in the same city I lived in. Not a problem, probably just meant they would get here sooner. Not expected them for a few days as the shipping said, they arrived the next day apparently attempted delivery while I went to an appointment. They left a poorly written pick up notice on my door. I had to go online to find out where to pick up .. when it showed I literally had to pick up at purolator depot like down the road from the store it was shipped from.. I don't understand from a business stand point how this makes sense but that's not what I'm here to talk about. I don't understand how we pay for shipping when purchasing online but then have to go out of our way to go and pick it up anyways. I could have easily just gone and picked up the boots directly in store if I had known prior to purchasing where they were shipping from. Lastly when attempt was made I was given the option to have it redelivered the next day via an online forum which I filled out. I was hesitant the next day as my shipping updated saying it was at the depot for pick up and not redirected. So I drove there, the employee (let's not even go there) told me that their online redelivery system has to go for approval before they send it back out and that It was better to sit on hold with purolator for an hour (her words) and talk to someone. I think this is unbelievable ... then lastly before giving me my parcel she asked for ID. Because I'm in between moving my ID does not show my new address, so she wouldn't release it. Frustrated at this point I asked her well how would I get my parcel from her as I cant just update my ID on the fly, she goes "you don't then" ... I went out of my way to get my new landlord to email me over my lease agreement just to get this done with. Literally such a a headache and this process was AWFUL. If I could give purolator a negative review then I will. I usually order from amazon prime and I've only experienced problems when they ship with purolator. The delivery is always late and they hardly provide any information regarding the reason and they don't post any updates on their tracking website. I always have to go through amazon to get a response from them too. If I were to just simply send them an email, it takes too long for them to reply. Recently I had 3 identical packages delivered from the same company. 1 package was left at our residence the other 2 were expected the next day. The last items were sent back to distribution for pick up. We have a bar code on our front door used as a signature for items to be left there. I woke up the other day and checked the tracking info for my package: Out for Delivery. Perfect! So, I wait, sitting in the living room, watching TV, making sure there is no way that I wouldn't hear the purolator guy at the door. 11:20 rolls around, and I stand up to go to the bathroom. As I do, I look out the window and voila! The Purolator truck is at the end of the driveway. Perfect, He must be coming to the door now since I never heard the doorbell or a knock. Wrong. He begins DRIVING AWAY! When I saw this, I ran to the door to find a Notice of Attempted Delivery slip on my door. Are you kidding??? So I run to the end of the driveway (in my boxers) to catch the guy because luckily I live on a Cul-de-sac so he had to turn around before exiting. He stops, and I get my package. This chain of events led me to believe that the Doorbell to the house must be broken, so on the way into the house, I pushed the doorbell button to see if it is working. It worked magically, and was so loud that it woke up my roommate (who was sleeping upstairs after a night shift with ear plugs in.) Seriously? Too lazy to sctually ring the doorbell and deliver the package? Do your job. I have writen to Purolator directly regarding the matter, and I was told that they will be sure to "...notify the driver's management team to ensure the proper delivery procedures are respected at all times." I feel that as a delivery company, you should understand that you are supposed to attempt to deliver packages, not just notify me that they are in the city and expect me to pick them up. read more

I would not use Purolator again. I've had much better experiences with FedEx and UPS. After a failed delivery attempt I contacted their customer service line and was given the options of either having the package held for pickup or have it delivered again. I request that the package was not sent out for delivery again and that I would pick it up. I was given a special number as confirmation of this request (separate from tracking #). The next day I came home to find a failed delivery notice, meaning that they disregarded the order to hold the package for pick-up. This meant the package would be on the truck until the end of the day, so I could not pick it up until after 7PM. Due to my schedule 7PM pickup would not work, so I had to wait until the following day to pick up the package. In order to avoid the same error I contacted customer service who was not apologetic at all and put me on hold for over 10 minutes to enter another order to hold the package (the first time took about 1 minute). I would expect much better service, especially considering I opted for express shipment. read more

I wouldn't recommend using this courier to send anything overseas. I paid for a 3 days express service and the recipient didn't get the package until 3 weeks after. I kept seeing "delivered" on the tracking info. I called several times and no one had the proper information about what was going on. Worse customer service, long waiting time on calls. They are the most unprofessional and incompetent service I've ever used, and I used to work in a busy office some know what courier services can do. The drivers, I guess, because the staff in their stores "have no control" over what happens , just get to pick and choose what packages they deliver. If they don't want to deliver it they just keep making up excuses on the tracking page as to why it wasn't delivered. Apparently, there are no repercussions for them either because this problem has been going on for over a year now, for me anyway, and NOTHING has been done about it?? Why not??
