Our daughter has attended the Purple Door D'Andrea campus for over a year and has had a wonderful experience! The campus is lovely and perfect for young children; bright colors and loads of fun toys. The school also has a huge backyard to play in with bikes and a playground. The teachers are all kind and knowledgeable and the smaller class sizes ensure plenty of one on one attention. My kiddo has made lots of friends and learned her alphabet and how to write her name and sound out words. I appreciate that there are themes that focus on fairy tales, and pets, and the human body ,and everything else in between. My husband and I transitioned our 5 year old son after being in a in home daycare to a more 'school based' care/preschool as he fell along the later Kindergarten kids since his birthday is in October and we were a little too late to enroll him to WCSD Pre-K programs, but also needed something more full-time rather than a 7-12pm timeframe. Purple Door Preschool D'Andrea is located next to my mom's apartment at Eastland , so my husband and I thought it help with drop off and pick ups. I have also had multiple friends mention they love Purple Door. When I first called, they said I could come by anytime during the week to do a tour. So I went with my son and met Mr. T for the first time who showed me the D'Andrea campus . I was impressed with the type of rooms they had, the different themes each month, and the 'curriculum' they offered for the kids , especially for the 4/5 year olds who are about to go into Kinder. We made the decision to officially transition our son around October time and my son was really excited. So far with my experience with this school, I had concerns at first with the transition and my son making friends as he met some of his closer friends at his old daycare . Everything was good so far, but my son did have an issue he expressed to me about another kid who supposedly not as nice to my son. I mentioned my concerns to the teachers about the other child targeting my son, however the teacher explained that the other child did have some problems with other kids also and fair enough my son can have a lot of energy too and is still working on his boundaries as a 5 year old. That was the beginning of my sons time with PurpleDoor but have not heard anymore problems with the other child after that. They also got the cubbies confused on my sons first day of school where we had an awkward situation with another parent about my sons cubby being incorrect . It was an easy resolve though, and it all worked out at the end. My son has been able to spell his name, his last name, and progress more with his cognitive learning since being at PurpleDoor and I've been happy with all the other extra curriculum they've done at the school like their winter performances and right now their soccer shots that I just enrolled my son on Tuesdays till March. This is a school where you do have to provide your own lunches for your kids but they have parties every now and then. They do also follow WCSD calendar, so anytime the schools are closed are when PurpleDoor is closed along with winter delays or fire days , but they do communicate with you over the BrightWheel app and emails regarding any closure or delays. Every month you are required to bring a Costco size snack for the kiddos as they provide the snacks and fresh fruit for them. Finally this is a tuition based school with different cost for part time and full time care along with before and after school care. As a first time parent, I do recommend to look at all your options for care especially if you have a 4/5 year old because there are Pre-K programs for WCSD as long as there is room and not tuition based and depending on your location in NNV other preschools may offer till 6pm care without paying an addition cost for after school care. But I do recommend PurpleDoor Preschool as the teachers are great, the curriculum is good, and my 5 year old son absolutely loves it. read more

If your kid is on the spectrum do not send them here. They don't like or know how to work with kids who are on the spectrum. Adding on to it since Stephani wants to act confused. For 1. I never met you, I've only had encounters with Tracy. 2. Tracy said a meeting would be held which she rescheduled and eventually never had the meeting. 3. I had to ask Tracy not once but twice if she had any references which she said she would email me and I never got. You guys lack communication and I strongly believe you guys didn't want to work with my child. Every time I would pick him up you guys only complained about him being a distraction and how I should find another school that suits him. You don't need to reply to defend your school, you need to work on hiring a better staff. You guys can't keep any teachers around. His teacher changed more than 3 times. read more

The owner of this preschool strictly doesn't do good business and or have any empathy for her students or parents. This school lacks communication and accountability and seems to be lacking basic principles in a school where trust my little children. I wasn't some new parent or client to the purple door when I decided to end our journey there. I have had my two daughters attend purple door for the last 3 years. We were/are currently at Purple Door until this year and what a mental roller coaster I have experienced here. And some of these were the reasonings I will be giving them this ranking.. *All the teachers who are supposed to be in these classrooms who are to be advertised as in the same classroom with the same students and teachers daily to give my child a routine and stability- was in fact a false advertisement. This never happened in my 3 years there. All teachers rotate. Teachers drive thier vans of before and after care programs which pulls them from class every day morning and afternoon. *She charges for everything and anything she can and I don't feel her intentions are for the kids but just more ways to get more income. *I personally reported an incident to which I physically witnessed, to the director of a teacher pulling/grabbing my daughter aggressively in one of the classrooms since he was a sub for her original teacher who drove the vans. This part gets sticky as this sub teacher was the SON to the woman in charge and director of that school. If you ask me makes me already a little uncomfortable considering this lady has 3 locations who would think it would be appropriate for him to be under a different director. Nothing happened for the remainder of the year as we called a conference to which the mother director and the owner sat in. Wasn't a pleasant setting. And to come find out this teacher I was reporting had a pending CPS case at this same school! *This current year, my daughter went from being left out side ALONE to and targeted for wellness checks being given by these teachers which seems inaccurate and a whole bunch of miscommunication in between. The Owner Stephanie raised my price of tuition by over $100 without any notification making this $825 tuition bill now, due in 4 days which to licensing guidelines she has to give a 30 day heads up. Then when I asked for some type of compromise there was none on her end and ultimately ended very unprofessionally and unexpectedly. We wrote in Friday would be our last day considering the huge inconvenience of this increase so last minute and the false promises and tired of the lack of communication. The purple door owner calls me from a blocked number to start harassing me over why I went to her school if I was so unhappy. Excuse me? You're a business owner and providing services I'm not only unsatisfied with this business but handling these situations so unbelievably immaturely and unprofessionally was my last straw to why I withdrew my daughter immediately. This has not only left me with such a heavy heart but such disappointment in a school I trusted and invested in and ultimately was let down by this school including my tiny humans. Stephanie the owner had no sympathy whatsoever for my daughter who was ripped out of her classroom mid year with no explanation to her friends or why she was pulled out of her class and escorted out on her last day. She did not once apologize for the action of her increase unexpectedly and the huge inconvenience this caused my family and made it clear she didn't care to work with me. Never once did we try to compromise or did she even treat me with a care in the world. She just said nothing was guaranteed and moved on. Extremely disrespectful to a parent and client of hers for the last 3 years. Who's not only provided referrals and volunteered endlessly and donated constantly and made personal gifts for teachers but let alone someone who truly cared for the kids there. It was a heavy hard decision to walk away but this school has provided anything BUT stability, integrity, and communication for me and I'm moving on there's other preschools for less drama and headaches. read more

Purple Door Preschool is one of the best decisions we have made for our kids to date. We were at another daycare and when we went to the open house we instantly felt like it was going to be the right move. Both of my kids love it. My son (now in kindergarten) wants to go back whenever he can on breaks. My daughter has the choice to go on Fridays or stay home and 99% of the time she wants to go to school. The teachers and admin are great. The classrooms and school itself foster learning and fun. The "backyard" is a kids dream. The curriculum includes standard classroom time as well as things like cooking and science experiments. We have no complaints and are grateful for the time our kids have been able to attend. read more

When I noticed Purple Door was opening a location close to our home I signed up my son right away. I had heard wonderful things about their Wingfield location from parents we met at local playgrounds, trampoline parks, and other places in the area. Their young children loved going to school. I researched Purple Door on my own and fell in love with their "play based" philosophy! When we toured D'Andrea I fell in love all over again with their gorgeous setup, classrooms, and sweet teachers! When it was time for my son to start, it was emotional -- but only for me! My son was so excited. He was welcomed from day 1 and has made wonderful friends from class. This winter break has been hard because everyday he has been asking to go to school. When I learned that Purple Door Preschool, one of Reno's only play preschools in the area, was opening a campus in Midtown, I knew this was where I wanted my daughter to attend. I had been searching for a play school and positive reviews of the original campus out in Wingfield solidified my decision. I was a stay-at-home mom, so I just wanted an opportunity for my daughter to go a few times a week to socialize with other children and play in a different environment from home. The Purple Door Midtown campus turned out to be the perfect fit for us. My shy daughter, who usually clings to me, found an instructor that made her feel comfortable and safe. Over time she began to open up more and more to other staff and kids. I've seen her gain so much confidence and come out of her shell. She loves doing science experiments, yoga, and baking things while at school. Her teachers let the children follow their interests and get to know the students well, and their families. They have had a high turn over with teachers in my son's class and communication is lacking of its whole truth making it not trust worthy with my child. I would not recommend. This preschool is truly a gem! My little guy had never been to any type of daycare or childcare before as I am a stay at home mom. Naturally I had a lot of angst about leaving him. My daughter just completed her second year here and we have nothing but good things to say about the school. Unlike many day cares in the area that deceptively use the word "preschool" in their name, Purple Door is an actual preschool, designed specifically for the developmental needs of three and four year-olds. Kids are assigned to dedicated classes, so they have the same two teachers and are with the same group of kids throughout the day and the school year. This allows them to form special relationships with their teachers and classmates because they are always together. Each class moves as a unit through the different rooms and activities during a day, and each week there is a particular theme that many of the activities are centered around. Most of the activities are geared to learning through play, though they do have a very small part of the day where they do "classroom" learning....... my daughter has learned to write her name, and her knowledge of letters and numbers has definitely been reinforced at school. I visited several area preschools before deciding on Purple Door and was surprised that some of the more expensive options actually seemed to offer less. The most expensive and prestigious preschool in town consisted of one large room where all the kids spend the entire day together, and also made me make an "appointment" a week in advance in order to visit the school. I have been taking my daughter to purple door now for a year, and I couldn't be happier. Our four-year old daughter attends preschool at The Purple Door and she loves going to school each and every day. She can't wait to see her teachers and friends and she is learning something new all the time. The staff is warm and friendly and caring. I love how they have a private Parent's Group on Facebook where the teachers post cute videos and pictures of the children in action! It's great to see them playing and learning simultaneously. This school is absolutely amazing. My 4 year old went to preschool here and it could not have been a better fit for him. The Purple Door focuses on allowing children to explore and learn in a natural, intuitive way. They play to learn! My son is very energetic and spirited and hard-headed. Play to learn helped him discover a thirst for learning that prepped him for what would come with Kindergarten. One of my favorite features at the purple door is the room where they get to take things apart. They take apart telephones, computers, typewriters, etc. all to understand how those items work. They even have a kitchen where they actually cook with the kids! It really helped Brady gain some independence and find all he was capable of. We are so grateful for Stef and her amazing staff. This preschool, is honestly one of the best preschools that I could ever send my son too! The staff are amazing and they treat everyone as individuals and knows each child by name! The ratio is perfect! My son has autism and I was hesitant about asking if his ABA therapist can come to the the school but I sat down and talk to Stephanie and they worked with us and my son has improved so much while going to the purple door. He's interacting with other kids, the staff are so great with him! All the events, they make it so fun for the kids! I never once seen a preschool as awesome and energetic as this one! Purple Door Preschool has been absolutely amazing for our community! It's actually play based and children learn social emotional skills that aren't being taught in many other environments. The owner and director are committed to providing quality childcare to children and the teachers are there for more than a paycheck.
