Sunday Bfast Rescue is one of the ones that started off kind of shabby and now has expanded and redone the whole place to really compete with the likes of AIDS thrift in South Philly or any thrift store found in the Lower East Side in NYC. They are easy to spot on a corner right next to Coffee Cup Cafe (hit them up for bfast first), there is always plenty of meter parking righ up front. Upon going inside you will find clearly sectioned areas for everything in your home to personal items. I think some thrifts are better known for certain things over others, I personally come here for homegoods and furniture. Most of the things are pretty dated, but in great condition and for excellent prices. This is the kind of place that if you know your way around antiques you could find a few treasures. Aside from homegoods they have plenty of clothes, sporting equipment and curtians etc. The best part is that unlike the larger Impact thrifts around where you have to wait for a special day of the week for a sale, here EVERYDAY they have a sale going on. Depending on the color of the price tag, you can take anywhere from 20-50% off! I personally found a carpet stain removing machine for $5 and tons of party decorations for pennies. They always have very friendly customer service too. Another added bonus is that they take credit cards and all your money helps to fund charity needs. Needless to say, I pop in and out to check out what new things they have, you should too.

These people are pros at managing volunteers…read more This is not an easy task. You have to understand first what they can learn to do in a very short period of time. Then you need to make sure they're enjoying doing it. Lastly, you need it done right. It's a skill. Philabundance clearly understands this and has the entire process mastered - from check in to departure. I arrived to work with a group of colleagues from my company. The volunteers have their own parking spaces and their own sign in and waiting area. Cleverly they have these little kiosk things that allow you to use your credit card and make an instant donation that adds to a total for your group. Nice. Tables, chairs, clear lockers for storing personal goods, heavy coats along one wall for those working in the refrigerated area. We had a brief orientation where they talked about the mission of Philabundance, then we were split into two projects. I was on a project making up food boxes for elderly people in need. They reviewed what each of us did and we were off. The boxes came along a conveyer belt and we all had stations. I kept thinking of the "I Love Lucy" episode and smiled to myself. We worked a total of 3 1/2 hours with a 20 minute break halfway through. We made up our goal of boxes - 600 - and helped the other team package pints of milk in the cooler area when we were done. Group photo on the way out, and we were leaving feeling accomplished and happy. They were professional, friendly and very organized. Impressed.

Big shout outs to the employees there for their heroic actions and quick thinking , a special shout out to Dr Ala Stanford . You did a excellent job your fast actions and patience along with the TLC you provided was amazing You took a scary moment for the children ( and myself ) that was there and made it a calm moment for them for what they witness . My mom regularly calls me and her first sentence is, "I'm at the Association for the Blind, do you need...(random completely useless thing that I definitely don't need, but she'll buy it anyway)?". If you're wondering where all the Newtown moms recycle their barely-worn Banana Republic and Ann Taylor gems, it's here. Need a Halloween costume? Got em. Prom Dress? Yep. Shoes? Yes please. Housewares? Every shape, size, and color. The racks are color coded and restocked on Saturdays. Fridays from 6-8 clothing is half off. There's one (rather) large dressing room in the back. Prices are VERY CHEAP. Like, stupidly cheap. All proceeds go to Bucks County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. If you want to recycle your things, you can do so Monday to Saturday 10-3.The ladies that work here are very sweet. My mom is tight with them, cus, ya know, she's there all the time. You can find ANYTHING at this thrift shop. I'm pretty sure half the time I ask my mom and sisters where they got something, I know their answer is going to be "Assosh." That's right, we've abbreviated it.

I've been to this pantry about 6x's now.Here's my take on its pros & cons…read more Pros - 1) On 1/9/23 I asked one of the ladies who always seems to oversee the frozen meat area if the workers are all volunteers. Yes, she said. I think that's great. 2) A lot of the food seems to come from Whole Foods. (Not sure if that's a good thing or not, as they're owned by pretty greedy Amazon now.) 3) A lot of the prepackaged stuff is organic. 4) I think It's nice everyone can choose theitems he/she wants. Someone usually cites that said the number of things in each distribution group we can have. I sustained one exception to that the last time I was there3/13/23. one of the regular volunteers informed me I could have as many pantry items I wanted. Don't quote me but I think she said that was because I was there within earshot of the closing of the hour long giveaway time frame so sufficient edibles were there still. (I don't know, that said where they store "leftover stuff that needs refrigeration or freezer space. There's a small free parking lot on Carson street that's across the street from the pantry entrance which isn't on GREEN LANE, ACTUALLY. (If you've a car this is an important point to be aware of -- the workers here correctly inform me about given how difficult it can be to find parking on a lot of the street in this neighborhood. I think it's far better that groceries and a place like Whole Foods are giving away food they don't want to sell anymore -- due to their (likelihood) notions their customers don't want anything that's almost "expired," (I could go on and on about that $) than trashing these foodstuffs in landfills that are already clearly overburdened, giving rise to global warming hence, etc. Finally given the food here is free when all is said and done it's definitely a good place to frequent if you're interested in just saving your coinson the recent hiked cost of grocery food. Cons - Regarding my query about where refrigerated food is stored here I had a fairly nasty taste of that (no pun intended lol). The last time I was at the pantry I picked up a fairly large plastic container of carrots and celery (see picture) which had an expiration date of 3/12/23 but which I wanted anyway because I've found "expired " things often last a lot longer than what's noted on various food items. Well for the first time in my life these particular veggies were pretty much rotten-- about two weeks after I brought them home. That's VERY unusual for carrots and celery as these pretty hardy vegetables usually last a lot longer than two weeks in my fridge. I'm 100% certain due to the fact they Had NOT BEEN PROPERLY REFRIGERATED -- if in fact they'd been refrigerated at all after Whole Foods donated it to them however their usual (innate capacity shall I say) to withstand pretty accelerated decay was obliterated. That's disappointing that something like that can happen at a food pantry of all places! I'm not trying to belabor the vegetable matter here but since I've already broached ithere's another thing I don't think is great about this pantry For some reason one can't get fresh vegetables here much. I think that's strange and unfortunate. I've usually had to wait 40-45 minutes before being called up to get my items. The wait time here can be tiring, therefore. After all is said and done of course -- to end on a positive note the fact that much of the food here is organic and pretty decent, healthy, etc I've no reason NOT to recommend it.

Its street parking which with all the snow isn't as easy to find as it normally would be but I managed to get a decent spot both trips. Its a little cold when your not moving but once you get started the temperature ends up being just fine. If you live in the area its a little small but not a bad place to participate in an indoor sports league.

My daughters and I recently volunteered with their school at Mitzvah Circle Foundation on MLK Day…read more I was so touched by this organization which helped 45,000 people, including over 2,000 children with developmental issues last year alone. I really enjoyed not only meeting, but hearing what founder Fran had to say about her original plans for her non profit organization (which grew tremendously over the last few years), as well as their mission, and how the process exactly works. She told touching stories of those she has helped and it really inspired me to do more! I really liked knowing that our time was really needed and our donations were headed to the appropriate places. I love the fact that The Mitzvah Circle creates individualized care packages. They aim to satisfy the personal needs of each and every family/person on a one on one basis. Whether it's school supplies, outerwear, educational toys, pajamas, or sturdy shoes, they will do their best to send seasonal, correctly sized items with each package their volunteers create and deliver. They have many ways you can help... -Donating very gently used items on weekdays. Their motto for donating clothes is "if you wouldn't put it on your child or wear it, don't send it". They noted the item we bag up and send may be the nicest article of clothing they have. Good to keep in mind. It definitely makes this Mama feel a lot better about some of those pricier items we part with. They accept all sizes, all season, all genders. Shoes are definitely an item they don't have enough of! Send 'em!They ask that you call or email before dropping off so they can be sure someone can help you unload your goods. They did say email is the fastest method of communication. -Donating a monetary gift through their site. That money will be used to purchase diapers and baby soap. (They are the ONLY organization which provides diapers to families in neeed! They also send out 500 bottle of baby soap every 2 weeks!) -Volunteer. There are many days to lend a hand. I posted a photo of upcoming available dates of service. Often groups, schools and business come together and select a day to help out too! Contact them if you think you may have a larger group interested in helping out! Volunteering was rewarding and easy. They are a very organized and well oiled machine. My children ages 5&7 had no issues helping out. They really enjoyed bagging the 5 toiletry items as well seeing how fast they could help us separate the garments by size into appropriate bins. Everything was explained well and we accomplished a great deal in our 3 hour slot. I've already been bagging up some goods to take up there. If you are looking to give a bit more in whatever way you can this year, I couldn't recommend this organization any more! I was happy to be a part of it and look forward to working with them a lot more!

She gave me a tour of their warehouse where they sort and ship donations to those who need then the most but cannot afford. These include school supplies for deserving kids, shoes, toiletries, food, books, etc. I was so impressed by this kind-hearted lady and appreciate the amount of effort and dedication it takes to run such an organization. So glad to be able to chip in with what I can to help those in need through this organization.
