Purple Hill Lavender Farm is about 1.5 hours from Toronto, and just 5 minutes outside the Village of Creemore. The lavender fields are beautiful, and the lavender scent greets you as soon as you step out of your car. Note that lavender picking is not allowed or available on this farm.
You can book tickets online for field visits, professional photography sessions, or a 2-hour luxury picnic. Alternatively, if your visit was spontaneous like mine, you can pay for your field admission in person ($15 per person, free for children under 5). There is a sufficient field parking right by the farm entrance which is included with your admission.
The farm also has a small gift shop offering homemade lavender-infused items and dried lavender products.
I visited the farm around 3:30 PM on a Saturday in early August and found the fields uncrowded, which was great for taking photos. This farm is a pleasant stop if you're in the area. However, the drive may not be worth it if you're coming just for the farm alone, especially if the lavender season is nearing its end, as not all areas of the field are in full bloom. Other than take photos, and maybe sit for a picnic or read a book there's not much else to do here. read more
