Very Clean & friendly folks inside... not very busy ( just the way I like it) There was a steady flow of customers... The staff was funny & made me laugh. My dog had a skin allergy & they were very attentive to my needs. They didn't push anything one way or another but they did give me several options ( I loved that) They explained the cost of everything before moving forward. Having to say goodbye to fur baby is never easy. 2 years or 20 years... it never seems like it was long enough. We chose to take our sweet girl here as she was nearing the end of her life. First time customer. Saw Dr Smith, worst bedside manner ever! I adopted a puppy from Maricopa animal shelter. She was traumatized from whatever she'd been through. I'd had her for one week, I was referred to purrfurred pets. Dr Smith was so rude, and one of the least compassionate Vets I've ever seen. My Maxxie had been found in a field in Surprise. She was an insecure, scared, matted mess. She was barking and barking and yes it was annoying but who knows what she'd been through. Dr Smith came in, I was explaining her story, that she was a rescue, Maxxie kept barking and Dr Smith said something to the effect that, maybe there was a reason you were left in a field. (referring to her barking), she showed absolutely no compassion for her,.or jer situation. If you go there, stay away from Dr Smith!! Staff was wonderful so they would get 5 stars. Took my dog to be put to sleep. They gave him a relaxant but not enough, it just made him scared and anxious. They took him in the back to put in the iv, ended up giving him more relaxant but they brought him back, even though he was lethargic he was crying. Their process is long and terrible. The staff here is amazingly friendly and kind. They have a big heart for animals. 2019 We came here when our little chihuahua had become ill. Her anal gland was inflamed and she wasn't wanting to eat. We seen 3 different vets here all going above and beyond trying different tests to help her. I asked after almost a year of testing if maybe it was cancer. They didn't think so and the male vet had told me there isn't really a test for cancer. A medication they had given her for something else while trouble shooting as a fluke kept her eating. So we just kept giving refilling and giving it to her. When we exhausted the options we were recommended to do a test they didn't offer. I went to another vet to request that test. They ran the test and it came back good. The follow up appointment for the results was another vet in the new office. He looked at her and he said it was cancer just by looking at her as she was all skin and bones. He was thr owner and a seasoned vet over 40 years. He sent us to a oncologist per my request and confirmed it was adenocarcinoma. Our neighbor had a cat who became diabetic and had a play scratch injury to her eyes. They couldn't get the eye issue resolved and our neighbor ended up putting the cat down. I wish I knew sooner so I could have treated her to the other vet to see if they knew what it was. This place is a very special place and they care so much really they do. Thr gal we always saw at the front desk was so sweet. I appreciate them with all my heart. If you have a special unknown medical issue with your pet get a second opinion if it doesn't seem to be getting resolved. I recommend seeking another vet before any big decisions are met. Moving a pet to Hawaii is very complicated from a paperwork standpoint in order to attempt having to put your fur babies into quarantine upon arrival, so I appreciate their willingness to make sure everything was in order ahead of time. Thankfully, everything was in perfect order and I was able to take my babies home directly from the Honolulu airport with zero quarantine! read more

I take both my dogs here for primary care. Staff has always been welcoming and nice. Doctor answers any questions you have and is always honest. My favorite part is the sign with all the pets names that are being seen that day. Makes you feel noticed! It's the little things. Office is small, but always clean. I have an anxious pup and the staff always gets us into a room as soon as we get there, or accommodate by making her the last appointment of the day. I love the vets here. Every visit I leave feeling good and knowing my dog is taken care of. She loves coming here and wags her little tail every time she sees the girls. The location is clean and always has treats for the dogs. It's very affordable compared to other vets in the area and I don't feel rushed no matter what I'm there for. They even have a time you can come and techs can administer vaccines so you aren't charges s visit fee as well. read more

This place almost killed my cat and then took ZERO responsibility for their actions and placed blame on anything but themselves even with documentation showing she was healthy prior to her surgery and then documentation after the fact showing how she was anemic, had an infection and so forth. They really went above and beyond for me when I told them my story about a stray dog that I adopted. Their prices are very reasonable and they don't force you into unnecessary lab and bloodwork. We brought our puppies (Kona and Finley)in for their spaying surgery... and just like any fur baby parent you just don't want to leave them with anybody... however the level of customer service from The tech, drs and front office staff was amazing. They were so attentive, and caring with our girls, which really calmed our nerves. We knew our girls would be in good hands based on the extra TLC they received. My dog started bumping into walls and couldn't see within a days time, I had never been there before but they got me in quickly. Turns out she has diabetes. Dr Carvell and staff were great. She even called me at home multiple times to check on my pup and see how we were doing with the insulin shots. I would highly recommend this clinic. read more

I didn't seen any reviews about people bringing in a dog with anxiety and separation anxiety so I was so nervous to bring in my dog. Let me tell you they were so kind and moved at his pace. They had to take him in the back to clean his ears and clip his nails (he won't let me clip his nails) I could hear my boy crying for me, and I just heard the girls comforting him telling him "I know" "it's okay" it felt so good to hear that. Then o could hear when they were done "LETS GO SEE MOM". I felt so comfortable and I'm glad they took care of turbo like I would. Definitely recommend if you have a pet with anxiety! read more

Very friendly doctors and have brought my new puppy there several times for vaccinations. However I was a little disappointed when I called due to my puppy being sick asking to come see a vet and finding out there are no appointments available, which could be the case, but I'm surprised they can't squeeze in something that is an emergency. Definitely will not be back I had a terrible experience here! They spayed my cat and after I followed instructions on care process 17 days after surgery her wound came open and was infected they got her in and when I got my cat back they failed to clean the infected area before stapling her close. Only doing a half fast job! And not even closing her properly leaving her prone to more infection. They put my cat through so much stress she developed a heart murmur... she's happy and healthy now but no thanks to purrferred pets! I found a new vet who felt so bad they fixed my cat up the right way free of charge!! We're hoping we caught the heart murmur in time before it became permanent. Stay far away from purrferred pets there are a lot of horrific stories I've been seeing lately every where! read more

Went in about a week ago because my dog wasn't feeling well. I was able to go inside and talk to the vet (wearing a mask of course) and we are figuring out my dogs heart problems. Run fast and far from this heartless place! I would like to give ZERO stars. One star is too many. My beloved, healthy, 4 year old dachshund suddenly lost her ability to walk. She could not use her back legs. It was so difficult to see her struggle. I immediately called the only vet she has ever used ... purrfurred pets. I told them her issue and asked to see the vet .... I was told they could see her in 5 days!!!!! Also, they would need to collect the non-refundable payment immediately because Bella hasn't been seen since 2018. It's not the money -- although that is an infuriating policy. It's the coldness. The absolute cold-hearted money-grubbing lack of concern. Zero empathy thus a zero rating. Because my beautiful dog has been happy and healthy for 3 years, I owe them money up front? No thank you. By the way, purrferred pets, this is the only review I have ever written in my life. I have never felt strongly enough to write something negative. I always offer grace. But I want all pet lovers to avoid this painful reception from you! read more

The vet and clinic itself is amazing!!! I got my chihuahua spayed and it went great. I came back to get my golden retriever neutered and had a poor experience with the receptionist at the time. When I came back there were 2 younger receptionists working who were extremely kind and knowledgeable. They gave amazing customer service! (Unlike the previous woman) . Fast forward about 2 months later his stitches are still showing. We followed all care instructions properly and is not our first Rodeo. I called, left a voice mail and my call was returned by the same woman who I had the poor experience with previously. I informed her of our situation STATING IT WAS DONE 2 MONTHS AGO, and she very rudely told me to look on the care instructions for reference. I asked for further contact information email or number to contact surgery line and she again repeated to look on care instructions in an extremely condescending tone. I would recommend this place to anyone as soon as they remove the snotty bitter old lady at the front desk! And this is only to one in particular every other receptionist is kind friendly and pleasant. read more

I just recently about 6 months ago came across this veterinary clinic, and can I say its a breath of fresh air to be in their care where my pets are concerned. Love the staff, and love the doctor, all very knowledgeable and and empathetic to your needs. Oh and affordable to where I am not having to place everything on a credit card every time I take a pet to see the vet. I have had 4 of my 7 pets into the clinic so far for routine check ups, dental work, and its been a terrific experience each time, and is now my primary pet clinic! read more

Visited this clinic this morning after reading the reviews including the one that called the prices reasonable. Took in a healthy kitten and exam, first shots and FIV test cost $180. The second round of shots, male neutering and a microchip would be another $163. Total = $343 Too pricey. Will look for something more reasonable. read more

So Purrfurred Pets in Surprise doesn't really prefer pets at all. I booked a spay appointment for my beloved tortieshell cat also requesting vaccinations and microchipping. I paid a $90 deposit to hold the appointment. I arrived with my cat and I requested only the microchipping and vaccinations I was going to add on a nail clipping. I told her that I did not have the rest of the money to complete the spay today that I needed to only do the microchipping and vaccinations. No problem right? I have $90 already paid there. Well the woman at the front desk forcefully told me that my money could only be held or used towards this cost of the spay. I said I do not have the rest of the money I would like to use the $90. She declined and told me that I needed to only use the money towards spaying my cat.... so I was too basically donate my money to them and walk out or borrow money that I do not have and have no way of paying back for months. I've literally joined a bullying group on Facebook after this vet clinic experience because I am so pushed around and shaken up by this experience. Purrfered Pets has no compassion for the people and they just care about their rigid schedules and their demands and their greedy money intake. I paid the $90 in advance I arrived at the appointment still requesting services for my cat just not everything. Rude horrible experience. My poor cat. read more

This vet is great. After we took in a late friend's dog, we realized something wasn't right and brought him in for testing. They were honest with pricing and outlook on his diagnosis and gave us options. When it came time to make the difficult choice in letting him pass on, the office staff and dr were so nice and sympathetic. A week or two later, they sent a card with everyone's condolences. This place is just all around wonderful. We have three dogs and three cats and would not think about going any place else. The doctors and vet techs really go out of their way to help explain things so we can understand them and help with any possible situation. One of our dogs has very severe allergies and cushings and the Vet is always so caring and compassionate with our sweet pickles and makes sure she is happy. This is one of the few vets we have been to where our animals don't get scared and stressed due to the amazing staffs love of dogs. Please be careful! My dog had X-rays taken 3/25 after going to the emergency hospital in the middle of the night. After 12 days and several follow up calls, I still do not have results. Well last night back to the emergency hospital!! Now have appointment with a neurologist. Today I returned to this vet to ask for a refund for the x-ray reading consult that I never got and what good are x-rays if they don't get read? excuse-readers backlog. They refused all around. My kitten was spayed, then 10 days later puss was oozing out of the incision area that previously was not visible. I followed aftercare instructions [ A large bump was present under the skin which I thought was normal at the time]. They want to charge for a follow up exam, when it looks like they did something wrong. I found them on the County list for low cost spay/neuter, they charged $219. Not so low. read more

I think everybody would agree that our pets are the most important part of our lives they're the best part of USThat being said I found this veterinarian clinic when I first got to Surprise, Arizona and was immediately put off by the request for a down payment - the nasty attitude and lack of empathy for our needs. That being said the telephone rang a couple of times while I was standing there trying to get an appointment and the first thing that comes out of the receptionist mouth is is this an emergency? If they say no they immediately say I'm sorry we're booked for two weeks out - Then again she discussed money snd the necessary down payment for every service - it's all about the money money money money money please do not go to this place! Save yourself the aggravation. You will find out for yourself they are rude and not worth one penny that they're requesting for bad service.
