I had to put my cat down recently, but thought it would be stressful for both my cat and for me to have to drive to the vet to do it. I thought that it would be a better experience to have someone come to the home to perform the euthanasia. Dr. Alexis came with a vet tech and they did a wonderful job. They were very sweet and empathetic and talked me through everything they were doing. They wrapped my kitty in a rainbow blanket afterwards and loaded her body in the back of the van, with her head on a pillow as if she were sleeping. The peace they brought me and knowing my Butter was able to smell his familiar smells before crossing rainbow bridge was a peace only Dr Ray could bring. It's been several months since I said goodbye to my sweet Iggy. I had always taken my pets to the vet office when it was time, and it was always a sweet, peaceful experience, but I wanted Iggy to avoid that trip. In this case, he was given what I think was a spinal injection near his tail. He screamed, looked at me shocked and terrified, and then he was essentially asleep. I had never seen a response like that from him in any vet appointment. Not even close. I had sat with him for four hours before his appointment, and he was calm. His final moment of lucidity was pain and terror. I'll never forget the look on his face. I cried and lost sleep for three months so sad for his experience. They will tell you that they will give him a preliminary injection. Ask where and how it will be for your baby. Maybe they have other options. read more

As a hospice nurse I never understood why my patient's family members were so grateful for walking them through the end-of-life process until Angel Vet (specifically Dr. Overton and her assistant Tom) came and walked me through the process of euthanizing my German Shepherd.  I have never had to make the decision to euthanize an animal and I was so incredibly grateful for Dr. Overton and Tom's compassion and patience going through this process! On May 1st we had to say goodbye to our beloved senior cat, O'Malley. He got so stressed going to the vet as it was, and the last thing that we wanted was to take him there to be put to sleep. He gave us 14 wonderful years despite his health, and we wanted to give him to most peaceful send off that we could. As much as I dreaded making this decision, I am so grateful that we did and ended up going through Angel Vet. They were kind and compassionate from the very first phone call I made to them. Dr. Ray and her assistant Missi came out the following evening and gave us all the time we needed to be with him. They were even able to give us extra paw prints and fur as keepsakes. The kindness, patience, and compassion they showed to all of us was beyond measure. We got a beautiful card from them a few days later. They had asked so much about his backstory the night of, and the fact that they remembered all of it and included that in the card was so touching.
