At Zoni Language Centers I was able to build my life aspect with others and find true happiness through socialization. I recommend this school tremendously since they also do have many locations in all of the tri-state area. Call them at any school because the Student Service Representatives answer any of my questions and any age can attend this school. Through COVID-19 they also have been providing the students Virtual Classes tons of food drives at all the schools which has helped me a lot. And tons of courses with certifications.

I took an advanced intermediate 10-week French course with JP, and it was a great learning opportunity. Whenever I learn a new language, my biggest fear is to actually speak the language because I am afraid that my counterpart wouldn't understand me, and if he/she doesn't, I wouldn't know how else to explain my ideas without speaking English. Not only is JP very approachable and friendly, but JP is also a very professionally qualified instructor (as he also teaches some French classes at NYU) and can immediately detect what you are trying to say and offers you with better ways (i.e. how natives would say) to express your ideas. JP sincerely wants to get to know everyone as much as he can and follows up with you so that he can be of help if you intend to continue to improve your language skills. There was no real evaluation, just an online quiz, and when I arrived in the class, I quickly realized after a few sessions that it didn't match my needs at all. The class was pure conversation with no grammar explanations, no structure, and no rules, which made me feel completely lost. I actually needed more grammar-focused support, not just conversation. When I tried to switch levels, I wasn't offered a proper solution. Instead, I was only given about 70% credit for my remaining classes, with a two-month expiration. I couldn't use it because I was traveling, and their response time was slow, so the credit essentially became useless. Overall, I was disappointed with how the placement was handled and how inflexible the school was in helping me find the right level. I expected a more supportive and structured experience.

Most importantly I actually _understand why_ I'm saying things. She manages to distill grammar, conjugation, and other technical bits of the language into easy to swallow lessons. Before starting with Sylvie I tried Rosetta Stone and Duolingo, they're great, but nothing beats learning French from a native speaker, I've picked up fun colloquialisms I'd never get from Rosetta Stone. Sylvie has definitely honed her teaching style over the years. Her lessons are well structured to take you from absolute beginner to advanced. If you want to really learn French, talk with Sylvie!
