I contracted with Moyers a few days ago to have a Green Emerald Arborvitae installed in my front yard and also signed up for general yard clean-up, to include weeding and mulching and planting of ground cover. (I have a rather large backyard that consists of lawn, hardscaping, and a lengthy blue gravel driveway. The yard also features a 5' W x 50' L raised garden bed planted with various dwarf evergreens trees and deciduous plants. It is a lot of yard and I find it next to impossible to keep it looking neat and orderly.) The Moyers landscaping team, led by Danny, arrived on the exact day and time promised (no rescheduling on their end; what a blessing in this day and age). I watched the team working from my windows and could not believe how hardworking and efficient they were. The crew was absolutely dedicated to the work at hand and cut no corners. In short, they exceeded my every expectation. On Day 2, I was greeted at my door by Danny for the walk through of the completed work. I couldn't believe my eyes. I am not exaggerating when I say that my yard was transformed. I was so bowled over that I became emotional -- to the point of tears, and I do not cry easily. Needless to say, I will hire them again and have even signed on for their Platinum Lawn Maintenance Program. In my experience, Moyers is top notch -- but don't take my word for it. I had a few projects that he promised to finish in 2-3 days. After paying for the materials, he kept cancelling appointments. Now, TWO MONTHS LATER & after over a dozen cancelled appointments, the projects are still incomplete. Everything's started but nothing's finished. I've got dug-up holes that have been sitting for weeks, to the point where my neighbors and HOA are complaining. He trimmed my trees but left dead branches outside for 2 weeks & all the leaves blew into my neighbors' properties. I had to clean it all up myself after their complaints. The worst part? He repeatedly said he'd come by, and after waiting all day, he wouldn't show or even have the courtesy to call me ahead of time. I've wasted weeks and countless weekends waiting for him. I even went on a 2-week vacation, came back, and discovered he hadn't done any work at all. I'm beyond frustrated with constantly calling and begging him to do the job I already paid for.

On Saturday he said he was on my way to my house but alas, he didn't show until 4 hours later. I asked him for a time to expect him but he never let me know. I have a contract with them but he is very unresponsive and my yard looked terrible as we were over 2 weeks without a cut at the end of May and early June. I thought the issues that I had when I initially contracted with him to mulch and seed my yard in the spring were an anomaly but they appear instead to be part of a pattern. After first contacting him to do Spring bed clean-up and mulching, I waited 3 plus weeks and they never showed even though he stated they would mulch within the week after receiving the contract. When I finally was able to reach him, I had to insist that they do the work as they wanted to wait another 2 weeks which would have put us into late May for mulching and seeding and over 5 weeks from the initial request for service. (Then he never cleaned up/trimmed the plants in the side gardens. ) The delays, unresponsiveness, and lack of communication and the fact that he clearly misled, if not outright lied, to me about being on his way are indicative of the poor customer service and an unreliable business. I would advise you to avoid working with Pine Ridge Landscaping.

I was skeptical, because it was very clear to me that in his mind, the review was the problem (as opposed to my overall customer experience), but I eventually agreed. With John overseeing the project, my yard now reflects what my original expectations were. He manicured the bushes in my back yard beautifully - quickly, accurately, and non-invasively. I was floored at how expertly the work was done and how efficiently everything went. The communication level was good, and he was pleasant throughout the work. He showed up with his team the morning the work was scheduled, and explained to me that the sod could not be cut and installed until the day after (due to heavy rains), and would it be okay to come by and install it tomorrow? Thank you for the notice, and yes, certainly! :) In my front yard, which is patchy due to water damage, they installed the sod, and the yard looks really good now. They installed mulch around my front tree, and it looks very picturesque. I would not hesitate to contact John Hughes for another project if it came up. Thanks, John!

We discussed…read morecreating a swale to divert a large flow of water during heavy rainstorms away from my foundation out to a lower elevation in my yard. On the day of the job, the workers found tree roots that blocked them from digging out the swale. No one spoke to me about this. So instead of a swale, they dumped a lot of river rocks and made it look like a swale was there. I got suspicious and cleared away the rocks and found that at most they had cleared away the dead leaves. I contacted Carter Hughes about this and he said, Ya because of the roots we could only do what we could do. I asked Carter to look at it with me, but I never saw him again. So I contacted a tree company to have the tree taken down and remove the tree and take out the roots. Then I contacted Carter again and asked that once I had the tree out, he should send someone to complete the swale work. After a while going around and around with him on the phone, I realized he had no intention of completing the work, and it was useless asking. I don't believe that just putting the rock down to look like a swale and then never mentioning to me about the problem with the roots was at all an open way to do business.

He's a one-man show but by the time the work was finished on my house (power washed my front walk, mowed the lawn, and just all around made my property look nicer), I felt like it was the work of a whole team! He is a little pricier than other local businesses BUT the work he did completely beat out all of the other services I've had done by the other businesses. It was well worth it! I've asked a lot of questions and I never felt like I was burdening them with my persistence.
