The practitioner feels your pulse and checks your tongue before administering needles. He also wipes all areas with alcohol before needles are placed. I really appreciated this extra concern for hygienics. It is a small studio with only 6 chairs. I like the Buddhist OM music playing and the sound mufflers etc. The climate is controlled and air conditioned. This past September, I was taking meds multiple times a week for headaches, invested in a mouth guard thinking maybe I was grinding my teeth, questioning all that could be 'wrong' or fixable and still--my hips were locked, my jaw ached, my temples throbbed, and my neck felt like it was fused. That's when I found Melissa. And the rest is history. We've been working together consistently since then - weekly to start, then bi-weekly, and she's truly been one of the greatest gifts in my life this past year. Her ability to read what my body needs--especially when I don't have the words--is unreal. It's hard to explain how deeply grateful I am for the safe space she creates, the insight she offers, and the way she helps me unlock what I didn't even realize I was holding. So I made an appointment with Margaret. We had a phone consult before to discuss some areas of concern, and then we hung up so she could focus on Reiki. Over the course of the fifty minute session, I felt relaxed and ultimately fell asleep. Afterward, we had a brief call where she reported some insights about me that were absolutely right on. She also let me know that she would be setting up a healing grid for me so that the healing would continue for the next several days. Over the next few days I started to feel better, and the anxiety subsided. I will be returning for additional sessions. The following has been my experience with the two Reike Sessions I have had with Rebecca to date: I am self-diagnosed ADHD. I have a very difficult time "shutting down" my mind and relaxing. The hour Reike sessions provide me a "down time" for my mind - and I am truly able to relax. This is HUGE! I feel relaxed and focused after the session. I have hip replacement surgery scheduled in less than a month. Prior to my first Reike session, I was having difficulty sleeping and moving around because I would have very sharp pains traveling down my leg every time I tried to turn over in bed, or just moving around the house. The sharp pains have virtually disappeared after my first session...amazing. I don't do a Reike session with any expectations. I was hoping just to have an hour of relaxation and shutting down my brain. I never imagined that the pain I was experiencing from the osteo-arthritis would become so minimal.
