My class (PE) was doing something on the basketball court while his class was doing the mile run on the field. I remember seeing him lying on the floor from afar, he was left unattended the entire time!!! Near the end of the school day the ambulance finally came, and the next day all the students were talking about how he was pronounced deceased. I cannot even begin to discuss how disgusting and unworthy those "teachers" were. They don't even deserve that label. He was only 12 years old!!! They didn't supply us with any water, or even cared to make sure any of us had any food. There's 4 water fountains that would get packed with over 20 students, and most of the time water wouldn't even come out... so you'd have to French kiss the faucet. Gross. I'm sure they don't have the same teachers and staff as I did, but this school is really bad. But Dana was worse. If I had a child I would seriously drive the extra miles to put them anywhere but here. I also got relentlessly harassed because I lived in San Pedro, there's many students from a ton of different city's... but again, not sure how it is anymore but my experience was bad.

Had an earhquake today and the school had the nerve to send out a notice that the kids were evacuated when my kid told me he didn't even know there was an earthqauke and he was never evacuated! GREAT SCHOOL. This school is very, very well funded by the district. As a student from this school,…read moreI believe that the elective classes they offer are AMAZING. I started to peruse my dream of a Photographer/Videographer at one of the classes offered. All core classes are very well organized and equipped with GREAT teachers, in most cases. Talking about teachers, not ALL of them are the best. I went through some teachers, not pointing names out, who were just... so bad that they deserve to get fired. There were 2 of them. That is a pretty low amount! One of them got fired this year, so there is only one more to go. That one teacher who is still left has a very low temper. He WILL curse out students outside. Looking at the bright side, this school's staff is mostly all nice. Counselors are great, principals are VERY understanding. I recently got in a little trouble for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I will not go too deep into it, but I ended up getting suspended for a stupid reason. But now that I look back to it, I think he did the right choice. The lunch area is pretty convenient. Tabled are offered to every student, a snack bar is available, and they serve not the best lunches, but they are still acceptable. The lower fields are all available to students during break. Sports equipment is leased to students. Overall, I think this is the best choice of Intermediate school in Palos Verdes over Miralest and PVIS.

WILL BE TAKING ACTION WITH SCHOOL DISTRICT****** Would love to see what FRANK CALIFANO [athletic director] has to say on behalf of inappropriate behavior BY PARENTS School that takes no accountability. Lets their students and GHETTO parents bully. Ridiculous and classless. These people should feel disgusted. Never want my child to play a game against these monsters again. Parents belittling my child's team as we were exciting field. Have video evidence, will be coming forward. You Frank, need to have a talk with rowdy parents. How dare they speak is such FOUL manner about CHILDREN over a soccer game. A game is a game. Such psychopaths. Already called and tried to speak directly, was met with shortness, rudeness and told to email if I need direct contact. I encourage your "coaches" to take a course on human decency and interpersonal intelligence.

Listen teachers! not all who get a teaching credential should teach. I know you like the hours, vacation, time and pay raises you keep getting but for once think - do I have a gift for teaching and a love for kids? If you're thinking of sports go somewhere else. Coaches have conflicting interest it's ; pay to play. Too many episodes and problems to list. Send your kid somewhere else. As for bad behavior by parents we are not all like that, sorry for your experience and it won't be fixed because staff doesn't care AT ALL. Complaints no matter what they are fall on deaf ears and backfire instead of improve at that school/district.

We are truly blessed to have found such a safe, loving environment for our children. The campus is beautiful and the equipment is new. Kids can really be just kids. They run around and play. We love watching our kids actually moving their bodies and working out. They plead to go to afterschool camp every day. The class sizes are amazing. There are assistant teachers in each classroom. If a student needs more assistance they can easily get it, instead of struggling alone. Dr. Chun is an amazing Principal and runs the school like a well oiled machine. The character values they instill Caring Attitude Respect Gratitude Perseverance Self Control are amazing. I wish they had a high school too.

This school is probably best for people who have artistic children (think of theater or drama kids)…read moreor kids who have special needs (developmental impediments which require them to need an aide physically with them or need smaller group sizes). This school does not focus on academic rigor. There is no homework or grades until 4th grade. The amount of regression in education we witnessed was sad, anger inducing, and extremely upsetting. We wasted a year of tuition and our child's time and would NEVER recommend this school for children who are not special needs or have other socialization issues.

When I was given a tour four years ago, I knew what questions to ask regarding the curriculum and was impressed by the rigor, the class sizes, and the feel of community. So I decided to make the investment and move my son from a nearby public school to Rolling Hills Country Day School. One of the reasons was my son was diagnosed with moderate ADD and I knew he needed more personal attention and would thrive in a smaller school setting. It was the best decision! I do admit it took him a few months to get acclimated due to the academic rigor because the standards were different at his previous school. However, I loved it so much that a year later, I transferred my daughter there and now my third child attends RHCDS! I wish my kids could personally write a review. They absolutely love their school. They are eager to get to school early to play on the field before class! This school offers them a place where they feel safe and genuinly cared for. They not only have the academic rigor that in today's society is imperative, but they also prioritize in teaching values. Be a kind human is their motto and they definitely instill this on a daily basis. Learning and living by these values is what a child needs to thrive and be happy so they can focus in school. My son is now in middle school (upper school) and I know he will no doubt be prepared for any top rated high school. They focus on giving back to the community, character/values, teach independence, all the while really preparing these kids for high school. This school truly offers a fine balance. They have specialized teachers for various subjects, including technology. They also focus on presentation skills and even my little 7 year old has presented in front of the lower school! This is such an important communication skill that is disregarded in many elementary schools. I have also made amazing friends at RHCDS and I truly feel I am part of a family, or small community, even though I am a working mom and am not able to be there as much as I would like. I know my kids are cared for, safe, happy, challenged academically, and taught the same values that I teach at home. RHCDS is truly one of a kind and am so grateful to be a part of it.

We have been treated like family over the years - our children feel safe and known by their teachers and any questions or requests to the administration or teachers have been promptly and thoughtfully addressed. Our oldest child and middle school graduate, who now attends public high school, feels like she was well prepared academically and personally by teachers who challenged her to think critically and by expectations to be kind and respectful. There is obviously no perfect school and we are grateful to have found a school that aligns with our values!
