This museum is vast and amazing! The pyramid and the underground lobby beneath it were created because of a series of problems with the Louvre's original main entrance, which could no longer handle the enormous number of visitors on an everyday basis. The heat inside of the pyramid can get quite intense during the warmer months, lose your expectations on air conditioning in the museum, just as you would anywhere else across Europe. Again we paid a tour company to "skip the line" and give us as much of an educational visit as possible. The ticket prices are very reasonable, of course you will have to go through screening prior to entering the museum. They do have refreshments at the entrance, as well as restrooms, I would recommend visiting the restroom right away and finish up your refreshments since they are not allowed in the museum. They do have maps available, in many different languages, of course trying to use the map to navigate through this massive museum in the middle of all the people doing the same thing is still challenging. Do yourself a favor and just book a tour with a company like "city wonders". If you are set on seeing the Mona Lisa up close, put yourself into a "Black Friday" mode and push your way up, this is literally "Selfie Central" and many seem to be insistent on taking a few hundred at a time. Be aware of those pesky street hawkers, they can be very pushy and if they try to sell you tickets, say NO. I recommend not dealing with them at all, once you physically handle any of their merchandise they will NOT leave you alone. Cheers! read more

Super iconic, definitely a must-see, and totally stunning. It's something you kind of dream about seeing and it's awesome that it 100 percent lives up to the fantasy from an installation/art perspective. I would suggest arriving early for your visit to the Louvre so you can take it all in. But I wouldn't make an excursion out of the pyramids alone. As a tourist attraction, it is not perfect. There were a few reasons to get a little flustered at this hot spot, mostly because of the crowds. There were more people taking pictures here than at any other sightseeing spot I visited during my trip to Paris. I recommend bringing water, as there is no water bottle fill station, nor opportunities to buy water around the Pyramids (you have to go into the mall or Louvre). You might see some people selling bottles. In addition, it is extremely dusty. I don't think I could have hung out for very long - fortunately, we only had a 10 - 15 minute wait until our time slot for the museum. read more

Love the happening vibe! Bus loads of school kids, car loads of couples & families running around after visiting the Louvre. So many fab shops from Maxim's to Jar-Din to a food court and a bathroom that has all manner and color of toilet paper which we did not quite understand and thus evaded. Woohoo! read more

One can spend days here on the inside and a moment to take a snapshot with the pyramid outside. I was roaming throughout the massive area since I only had a full day inside! Oh, the Louvre.. It's hard to write a review for this place because I have very mixed feelings. I think listing out the pros and cons will be the best way for me to honestly review it. + It's not expensive to get in. It was around 15$ but not more than 20. There's a quicker line if you pre-buy your ticket, but the regular line isn't too long. Lots to see! It's historic, how can you not come here and see all these amazing artifacts and paintings. - It's ridiculously busy. All the time.. It's HOT if you're visiting in the summer. AC isn't the same as in the US. You have to go through a metal detector but that's not a huge deal. They sell beverages right before the exhibit entrance but don't tell you that you can't take them in. Good luck seeing the Mona Lisa up close. Overall, I think it's worth it to come here. If you come during the winter and find a time where it isn't busy then you'll be able to enjoy yourself. Give yourself the entire day to be here because there is a lot to see. read more

You can literally spend the whole day here, so plan accordingly! There are plenty of famous works to see aside from the Mona Lisa! We've discovered the Louvre is ridiculously hot and stuffy during the summer so be prepared for that too. I was so excited to see the Pyramid that I forgot to take a picture of it. I only have a video..... It is glorious up front, it's so cool and fancy. I couldn't get close enough to see if you are allowed to touch it but if you can I will definitely but that in my bucket list and go back. It's impossible to be in Paris and not visit the Lourve. It was simply too easy to spend many hours here as it is full of history and beautiful art. The line outside can be insane if you're trying to buy tickets to enter, so a pro tip is to buy your tickets online and show your phone to the agent so you can bypass the line and save tons of time. read more

Honestly, this outside area was more interesting than the actual museum. I'm not into art so YMMV. The outside area is huge and there are plenty of spots to take some nice pictures. It's the Louvre. What more needs to be said. Tons of history, tons of art. Photo ops galore. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I ordered a burger at the cafe and before even paying I asked if I could have no cheese. I was told not possible. Maybe it's the American in me, asking for no cheese seems like an easy, reasonable request. And taking away the star isn't to be spiteful, it means having more flexibility on what you serve would make it a better experience. Cheese was easy enough to take off on my own. Even though I've seen the pyramid on TV, in photos, in movies, etc., there is really nothing like seeing it in person. I know that some people don't like it. But whatever your opinion, it is still really something to see. If you are going into the Louvre (which I would also recommend of course), you want to build some time into the front or end of your visit to take some photos in the courtyard and check out the pyramid(s). They really are fascinating and you want to photograph them from like every angle. It's also a fun place for those stupid perspective photos like "here I am holding the whole Louvre pyramid in just two fingers!" I would also recommend going by this area at night if you get a clear evening. The pictures of the pyramid all lit up in the evening are really striking and beautiful. read more

Upon entering the grounds of the Louvre your first visual attraction is the glass pyramid ..it's like right in front of your face. Yes it was beautiful and yes I was in awe..but I felt it was kinda outta place. Located in the center of the grounds outside the Louvre the larger pyramid is surrounded by three small pyramids. Designed by the late I.M. Pei the metal and glass structure is something to behold. Looking at it at different angels will result in a completely concept to how it was designed. It's a great place to take photos and in the evening the pyramid lights up..something to behold. I didn't think in my life I would get to come to see this most amazing museum because my husband always said NO he didn't want to go to France lol Thanks to friends getting married I got to come!!! We only got to see maybe 1/2 what this spectacular museum has to offer, we did the Paris City pass and got to pick which day and time we wanted to visit. To see all I recommend to get the 2 or maybe 3 day pass to take it all in. We went in at 10am by noon it was so packed hard to walk with all the people and tour groups going on. I even got my foot stomped on by 1 the guides pushing me to get out his way I was trying take a picture ( sadly the guides are VERY RUDE to those not in tour) Mona Lisa hard to see unless you push your way up to get a good picture, she is not a very big painting but small to what you see or hear about in movies or tv shows. I did get a good close up of the black & white metal plates of her they use to make prints though :) So much history in the Louvre and bit overwhelming to take it all in, but very exciting to see it. Maybe one day I can go back to see the rest, but for now I am happy with what I was able to see. read more

You need more than a day to really experience this place. One, because the museum has a vast amount of stuff to see and two, because you might also spend hours queued up just to get in. If it's your first time in Paris or if you're just bored in Paris then the Louvre is definitely one of the spots to go to. And I don't think I have to go into detail about why the Louvre is so awesome. Just looking from the outside, you can already see why the place is so special. A day in the Louvre doesn't really do it justice. If you want to spend at least 30 seconds on each piece then it will take you a minimum of 100 days to see them all--and that's if you're there the whole day, everyday. So my suggestion would be to research ahead of time which pieces you are interested in and go for those. The obvious main attraction here is the Mona Lisa. I've heard about this painting since I was a kid so it's been a lifetime goal to see it in person. Honestly, it was just okay. What's more jaw dropping than to me the actual painting itself is the sea of people trying to take a picture of it with their choice of device. As a techie person, I was more intrigued by what devices each person was using than the actual painting. And that's my main gripe about the Louvre. It is packed to the brim. You can hardly find a peaceful place to soak in the art. If you're not getting pushed, you're getting blinded by flashes from smart phones or a group of people are talking loudly. I can't really blame the people because it is a pretty famous spot but I wish it was possible to really soak in every piece of art in it in a much more peaceful way. Get there early, that's when it's the least hectic. Also, there's an entrance inside the mall on the side of the Louvre. The line is quicker there. You can thank me later. read more

Another hate is that once in and underneath the Pyramid the commercialisation of Paris shopping comes into play. Expensive shops littered around. Moaning over. This place is huge!!! Holding several pieces of arts history. My main purpose was to see Mona Lisa, she was located about midway through the museum. Admission was 15€ and there's several maps offered in different languages. There's also lockers offered for you to store your items. There's tons of walking so make sure to bring comfortable shoes and be prepared to spend hours here. Even for my husband and I, we were supposed to go in and out but still took us about 3 hours. I wish we could have stayed longer so we could indulge in all its glory. read more

The pyramid at first seemed like an anachronism, petulant object. However, it is since 1989 a very prominent part of the Louvre Museum. The museum has a very large self-locker room where to leave coats, smaller bags so one can enjoy the visit. It's free. The gargantuan building possess one of the major collections of art in the world, as every large city museum does. I wanted to re-visit old friends, La Mona Lisa, The Venus of Milo, but also get lost and find new treasures. I purchased a self-guided audio tour and got a floor map that sort of took me in the right direction. Plan to spend several hours to only scratch the surface of its galleries. I went in January, on a very cold day and there were no lines to enter. Perfect amount of crowd. If you buy a City Pass/ Museum entry is included. A very rewarding experience. read more

They also stand at the exit asking for your ticket while also selling souvenirs. If you do buy souvenirs from them, pay in small change/coins. I have seen them playing coy like not having change and pressurized for more sales. In addition, pick pockets. Don't be distracted by strangers talking to you. The ever famous pyramid... of course not to be confused to the ones found in Egypt. This place is amazing. Ever wonder what's holding all that glass? Well don't ask me. I am here to take an iconic photo amd.get into the museum as quickly as I can. Did you know that there are several entrances to the museum. We took the metro and that's one entrance if you want to beat the line that normally snakes around the surface during the busy season. Once you defend the pyramid you have a few options, go to the museum of go shopping. We did both. The shops are more like a boutique where you can stock your perfume collections and pick up a few purses along the way. There are smaller shops on your way to the metro. Here you can buy some souvenirs such as a t-shirts adorned with Parisian points of imterests or a collection of different flavored Pâté, or different types of chocolates. You pick what you think will fit in your luggage. read more

It's now not a big deal. My goal was to spend most of my time here ... in just a few hours I was done! I remember the collections being much larger. You enter through the pyramid. The security check point is iml at to TSA but you can leave your shoes on. Be kind to the security guards; they're just doing their job! Seeing the Mona Lisa is like a cattle call. She's roped off. There's rope and stanchion around her. Tons of tourists crowd the front to take photos and selfies. The same procedure for Venus. Many of the wings were closed. Get off the beaten path and find some wings with different art and less tourists. Tourist tip - But your tickets in advance. There will still be a line but not as long. read more

Definitely a spot you should visit if you are in Paris. It is one place that is, without a doubt, a hot spot for tourists. Most pictures you will see are of pictures from the outside. People attempting to make it look like they have conquered the pyramid. May I suggest seeing it from another perspective, from the inside. If you do by chance get to see it from the inside it is just as impressive. The pyramid is upside down and you get this feeling like you are walking on the ceiling. For a good picture you can stand next to it, or place your finger on either the large glass pyramid to give the illusion you are holding it up, or place your hand between the glass pyramid and the small stone pyramid making it appear that your hand is about to be pierced by the two. It really is a thing to just marvel at. A beautiful predestination before heading to either the museum or the shops. read more

Nestled in a horseshoe of majestic Baroque buildings, the modern glass pyramid of de Louvre seems both incongruous and yet oddly at home. It's hard to say how long one might need to absorb the beauty of all the artwork inside the museum. But I suggest you give yourself plenty of time to enjoy both the outside and inside. I went back at night and love the lights and reflections of the pyramid. Great time for photos as well. Prepurchase your tickets on the official Louvre website and print them off. One tip, there are two pre booked lines at the main entrance. Check the signs before jumping in one. One is for specific time slots etc. One of my favorite places in Paris! read more

The louvre is a must see while visiting Paris. Make sure to read up on it first, get tickets in advance, and get in line early! It's super crowded everyday and closed on Mondays I believe. If you're coming here, you're probably only here to see one thing: The Mona Lisa. The area where the Mona Lisa is was very crowded. So if you're thinking about squeezing through the mosh pit to get a closer look, be sure to keep your backpack in front of you or leave it to another person because a lot of pockets get picked here. That being said, there was two memorable things from here for me: 1. Seeing the Mona Lisa in person 2. Seeing people taking selfies with the Mona Lisa Just for those two things, it's worth going here.
