Man, I stuck out around here pretty bad. The locals could smell "city folk". Even worse they could smell a "damn yankee." Despite that and my North Carolina license plate I rolled down the way and came here. I recall looking this place up online from various searches and was surprised at this place. It was like a frigging warehouse full of fireworks from top to bottom. Now normally I wouldn't give a place five stars because it's impressive........but I will give it because of awesome customer service. In 2004 and 2005 I purchased loads of fireworks here. I had my trunk full and a 5 foot long duffel bag full of them in my back seat. The only reason why I did so much repeat business (3 trips in 2 weeks each year) is because of the service. The guy who watched the place must have been 21 years old at the time. I was looking for some good mortar shells and I asked his opinion. He brought me out to the parking lot and just said "listen and watch." He ended up lighting one off right on the street next to the road and it was the loudest legal mortar I've heard. (Excalibur 2003-2005 edition btw). When I informed him of my desire of semi-wholesale prices he lowered the cost drastically on everything I purchased. He gave me free bottle rockets, saturn missles, a box or two of the mortar shells. This is all due to the fact that I spent a pretty penny. I wish I had that money back..........but man...........2004 was an awesome year at my family's 4th of July. 65 minutes of non-stop action set up on 10 different stations, 3 different racks and only one mishap. (Loaded a shell upside down causing one of my racks to blow up and send wood and nails flying at me and my uncle........woops!) Hit this place up if you're in NC. You may not get the best prices like you used to, but this is a good business.

I'm so grateful he took the time to help me understand the best way to care for it and the different types of Japanese maples that he had cultivated. We found one that I absolutely love! And the way he prices his plants is very reasonable. I look forward to heading back there soon and having Neil help me find a few more beautiful trees for my yard!

Don't let its size fool you-it was PACKED with all sorts of great fireworks. There is a selection from $1 and $2 items up to large kits that are a few hundred dollars. Whether you want sparklers or sky high fireworks for a show, they've got it! It's also much more affordable than the chain stores you see traveling. After reading more into this shop, they are a small, family owned operation. The guy working was super friendly and helpful as we asked questions and browsed. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area. It's a very short drive from Boone.

We stopped here a few days after July 4th to grab some sparklers. I was hoping they would have some…read moreoverstock sales, but no such luck. I did find a wide variety of sparklers, though! They carried some since boxes and then a bulk pack and the prices were affordable. I even found some 36" ones that my kids will go wild for. In general, there seemed to be everything that a pyromaniac desires all in one convenient spot! :-) The staff was friendly and quick to offer help and prices are well-labeled near items.

There were literally so many variations of 500 cakes, 250 cakes, fountains, spinners, Roman candles, sparklers and so sooooo much more. I was in awe as I glanced at all the cool fireworks. The store is very organized and clean. The staff is very helpful and will even show you a display of the firework of your liking on a huge flatscreen tv. They educate you as well which was a plus being a novice to this.... Sales are offered and incentives... the more you purchase the greater the amount of credit you will receive in more fireworks.. my experience was excellent... the hardest part was simply choosing all the types of fireworks that I wanted for my big show! This…read morefireworks store, which is open year round for all of you pyromaniacs out there like myself, caters to just about anyone interested in amateur fireworks. Products range from small bottle rockets up to reloadable motor shells with anything in between! My first impression of the store upon entering was the sheer volume of selection that was available. Although the store may appear small, do not let that deceive you, the available merchandise is definitely diverse. Secondly, I was glad to see that the store's namesake was indeed working there. "Granny" warmly greeted us and assisted us with any question or concern. She even was kind enough to demonstrate a few products that we were unsure of but interested in. To top things off, "Granny" pitch in a few free fireworks for our purchase. These weren't just some extra little poppers, but some serious helicopter explosives. Make sure you print out a map or are familiar with the location, because Granny's is a little difficult to find the first time around. You have to continue down Bristol Highway for nearly three miles, so you might feel like you've missed it. Just keep driving, and you'll see a big sign which will let you know you're there! Although Granny's is a little out of the way and a little hard to find the first time around, the products and the customer service are top notch. Next time I am in Tennessee, I will be buying my fireworks from Granny!
