There's no crowding around the pub table waving an optimistic pound coin at the pool hogs here, At Efes, there are enough tables for everyone, a bar with a reasonable selection of beers and spirits, plus a huge TV playing music videos and a few game machines too. If you like pool it's quite possible to lose a whole morning, afternoon or evening in this place and because it's relatively hidden on the second floor, a bit dark and dingy and supposed to be some sort of members club it's quite fun to hide out there and pretend to be a gangster, if you like that sort of thing. the official closing time is 12am but if you ask very nicely, they may let you stay a little longer.

Entry: This is my only grievance with the place. We got in fine (no cover or anything), but there was a group of 4 guys ahead of us denied entry. Apparently they have a policy not to allow groups of four or more males. One of the four was understandably in disbelief, and the bouncer actually pointed to a sign on the door where they had this written down. Clearly it's a policy to give the bouncers flexibility to prevent access to groups that seem like they might cause trouble but: a) the place is super divey so it's a bit ridiculous that they have strict entry policies b) the group in question seemed quite well-behaved c) it's blatant sexual discrimination d) it's theoretically a pool hall ffs, without gender stereotyping myself, I feel confident in suggesting that generally speaking, more males play pool on a regular basis than females. Basically, weird entry policies and the bouncers are dicks. Location: Lots of fun! So so trashy in the best way possible. Huge projector which had MTV on mute the whole night. Music selection was mostly poppy/rnb. Clearly felt like the manager's playlist without much more thought beyond that. This was reinforced by a bit when there was a few minutes without music. Cash only bar, but well-stocked, and decently priced. (No PBRs sadly but you can't have everything) Music was at a good volume, notable but you could comfortably have a conversation. Some people were dancing at the area at the front (by the screen). Some playing pool. Lots more just hanging out chilling (there's also a seating area at the back. Just a really fun vibe. Notes: When we entered around 0030 I thought the crowd was at quite a good level. Fairly full but loads of space to walk about. Amazingly, it stayed constant pretty much the whole time we were there (till 3). I also felt it was a great crowd generally (friendly, no one was out of hand, another review mentioned this place is full of doucebags, but I'd say that only applies to the bouncers and not even remotely to the crowd)

Well, mostly calm Harringay Snooker Club has over 10 full size snooker tables, 8 or so pool tables (American and English), as well as a table tennis area on the upper balcony. Prices are good, about £3-4 for an hours snooker, less for pool, and there's plenty of cues going around. The tables are in good condition and there's always someone playing, no matter the time. The interior is conducive to play, dimly lit with individual table lights to let you concentrate fully on your play. Since my play consists of hitting balls at seemingly random angles, this can be somewhat disconcerting, but until they invent a way of illuminating all abilities in a favourable light, it's the best available As well as the tables, there's a presumably licensed cafe, where you can get bottles of beer or a coffee to soothe the pain of yet another defeat to your house mates. Humorously, there's also a BBQ griddle, so you can also enjoy a nice melted cheese toastie or some sausages should your energy be flagging. After a few pints at the nearby Salisbury, it's a great way to end the evening and satisfy alcohol caused hunger. The only time there isn't the usual calm comes when live sport is on the giant projector in the pool area. Then, especially if Turkish teams are playing, the atmosphere becomes more lively and exciting. Even then, the game doesn't get in the way of your game, and adds to the joy of it all. There are a plethora of these snooker centres in the area, and I admit that I am naive as to how they are. But Harringay Snooker Centre is a neat little escape, where you can spend time with friends who don't mind mercilessly thrashing you on the green baize. Well worth a visit!

As well as students this place always has a steady stream of locals through its doors. With the option of American or English pool or full size snooker tables I usually opted for the pool. The place feels really dingy but in a good smoky sort of way, you can imagine hustlers making their way between tables. Drinks here are also fairly cheap and they have a decent selection. I've yet to try the food though it is apprently available. Good way to wile away the afternoon.

I was a member as part of a corporate package a couple of years ago and found it a great place to…read morego after work for a quick drink and game of snooker or pool. It's located right next to Woking football ground so is easy to find and has plenty of parking space outside so no problems in getting a space. Inside is typical snooker hall type decor, a slightly unloved and run down feel to it but that kind of goes with the territory. The tables are all well kept and there is enough of them that even when busy you rarely have to wait for a game, but the most appealing thing is the service at the bar. Friendly and efficient and always ready to have a chat if theor not too busy. I let my membership lapse because I wasn't using it enough to justify continuing due to work and family commitments. When I have the time to play more I will be going back as it is a great venue.

Unfortunately, the lack of pool tables (two) and their under-sized status was the first thing to disappoint me. After deciding to try my hand on the snooker tables, I soon realised that the layout was quite daunting for novices such as myself. Avoid this unwelcoming club and the derelict town it dwells in.
