First time here. Lots of tables. Our server I think it was Anna was awesome. We played for I think four and a half hours. I would definitely go back. The said it is free for military on Tuesdays and Sundays so might try then. The food was pretty good. When we first got there we almost left. Craziness with children running around and balloons flying but once that emptied out it was fine. We enjoyed our time there. It was 12.00 per person and we got a table immediately though they made us move on our third game because we were at a league table. read more

Went here on a Friday night around 9:30, there was a pretty lengthy wait to get a pool table so we decided to go ahead and get some food and drinks until a table became available. We got their bbq boneless chicken and fries and loaded bacon cheese fries (both 8/10). The food was decent, like typical bar type food. We also got a Margarita (9/10) and Long Island (10/10). I visited this place on Saturday night (03/22/2025) with a group of 8 to celebrate my birthday. My boyfriend and I arrived at 7:00 PM so we could start waiting for a pool table, and I told my friends to get there at 7:30. I expected to get a table by 7:40 at the latest, but we didn't get one until 8:00 PM. This situation kinda sucked because my friends ended up waiting 30 minutes with us :(. I knew there would be a wait, but I underestimated how long. That's on me for not arriving even earlier. Once we got our pool table, we waited about 20-30 minutes for a waiter to take our first orders. Some of us went up to the bar to place drink orders instead of waiting. We even asked the front desk about it, but they said the waiters make their rounds and there wasn't much they could do. I really feel like there should be a call light, like there is at Cinema Cafe! That said, when we finally got our service, our waitress was amazing! She was incredibly kind and patient, even with our group of eight splitting the tab in different ways lol. She made the process smooth and even offered to take a group picture (she wanted to make my birthday memorable), which I really appreciated. The only downside was that my $10 birthday credit didn't apply when she scanned my QR code, and I didn't realize until the next day when I looked at the text receipt. Partly my fault for not noticing and I'm kinda sad I can't use the credit another time due to its expiration date :( I know this review might come off more negative than positive, but the main reason I'm still giving five stars is because of how great our server was, and because I genuinely LOVE this place :) Everyone had such a fun time (even those who rarely play pool), and honestly this was the best birthday I had in a LONG time! I used to frequent (and I mean frequent) Q-Master for a good 3-4 years after I moved back to Norfolk post-college. Back then, there were 2.5 Q-Master locations (the 0.5 was the Q-Master that was located at Waterside) and I shot about 5 nights a week after work. There was a 24-hour Q's in Norfolk near Five Points - a friend and I used to hang there late nights. The VB location has held on strong - even expanding in the mid-2000s. Their rates have obviously gone up in 20+ years, but they offer well-maintained tables and some surprisingly good food. They offer/offered a steak sandwich which, for me, was a must-have (I visited Q's in December 2023 and didn't check if it was still on the menu), and I believe they have a full bar. Service at the tables is solid but can get sparse during peak hours. Q's has also maintained the premises fairly well - the interior is clean and appears to still be in good shape. So if you're big on shooting stick, or if you just want a decent meal (Q's has a dining area separate from the pool tables), Q-Master is a solid option. JV read more

Did you know Q-Masters in the largest billiards hall in the United States?! The place is huge on the inside and so well kept. There's a private, quiet, VIP room for more serious players but so many tables throughout the space. Gary is a gem of a human and a social butterfly with all his customers. Even as an amateur pool player I felt at ease in this space. And I know this might be weird to say but the bathrooms at Q-Masters are so cute! You can tell someone put a lot of thought into making this a welcoming space. The food prices can't be beat and the burgers are amazing. My personal fav so far is the Rodeo burger but I hope to try every burger on the menu at least once. Finally, Q-Masters has specials all the time to accommodate the community. Largest pool hall on the east coast! Large pro shop, great food, tournament room, what more could a pool player want?

Not sure what's going on with this place, they'll take your money and they pull in quite a bit, but they can't seem to fix their air-conditioning. It's been going on for five weeks or so and every time you come and play it's super hot. Normally fun to play here but lately it's miserable. read more

We used to be frequent customers of this establishment usually every Tuesday for military day which usually had no issues. But today we went out for date day to go play pool and this place has really taken a turn for the worse. The waitress came by and took our order, in which I told her just water is fine. She comes and brings us two big waters in styrofoam cups (which we later found out are refillable from the manager Steve), she never checked on us one single time after that, then when we left we got charged $5 per cup of water. Was never explained to us at all until I spoke with Steve and was told that this is newly implemented within the past year. I'll be honest, this place was great at one point but has really started nickle and diming. I don't think I'll be coming back as result of the poor communication, mediocre subpar service with expectation of tips, and getting charged for something simple as water. read more

Some friends and I went here last night for a going away bash for one of our co-workers. This is the second time I've been - and on a Saturday night I have to say this place was really poppin. They have atleast 25 plus pool tables - 7 or 9 foot - your choice- spread out perfectly - a huge amount of tables to sit at and enjoy food and drinks while you play pool. I noticed they have signs all around about pool leagues, specials (Friday night ladies play for $5) and family night. All very cool! We got there around 10pm and there was a wait for a table - as expected- they told me an hour but I think it was actually only 30 minutes - it was enough time for the rest of our party to get there and me to get to the bar and order a few drinks. The drink menu - absurd!!!!! So many choices!!! And the food also! My daughter ordered a cinnamon sugar pretzel and I went straight for a Scooby snack, an oatmeal cookie and a flight of bourbon (I was set to get drunk y'all) ... for all that only $22. (Which is crazy! Considering we just came from Yardhouse where they wanted $20 for one bourbon- who pays $20 for one shot of bourbon??) Anyways... we got our table .. 2 actually pretty quick - a party of 10- as soon as we got set up an awesome waitress came around and took our drink orders and took the best care of us for the rest of our time there. The vibe was perfect - a lot of different people there to play pool and have fun. They have juke box to play music, a selection of pool sticks you can buy, plus shirts and hoodies, etc. bathrooms are clean , all the staff were very nice. It's the end of the year and I've been burning up some extra vacation time on Fridays since Nov. While doing that some friends and I have been coming here weekly between noon and 3pm for lunch and free pool. There's virtually no crowd and we've been able to get whatever table we want each time. Service is excellent and the tables are well maintained. The kitchen does a great job as well and we've been working our way through the menu. I'd have to say my favorite has been the club sandwich but I've also tried a couple of the burgers, buffalo chicken rollup and the hot Italian melt as well. It's a great way to spend 2-3 hours if you can swing a extended lunch break or have the day off. read more

I was going to give this place a four star but due to me being behind on my reviews, I actually visited this place for a second time with my friends again since we had a great experience the first time. When we entered the building to get a table the guy that was working the front desk looked at us and ignored us and kept talking. I waited awkwardly for a good 10mins before getting help. Mind you I have social anxiety and it's out of my comfort zone to interrupt someone's conversation especially with a group of people. We eventually got our table he was so rude, I feel like he's just there for a paycheck and not the type of person who would go above and beyond to help you. Other than that for $10 a person and free nights for military on Tuesday and Sunday I believe man that's a great deal. The drinks are ok not overly priced, the food does need some work though I don't think it was even at the fast food level. "Just Don't Walk Out on Me" Those were the words from my waitress at Qmaster Billiards in Virginia Beach after a few minutes of our first interaction. Black people. Apparently she has had problems with our "type" before. Let's. Begin. I will tell this story in four unexpected but important chapters. CHAPTER ONE. We enter. Parlor is fairly empty. The person at the front desk says. Ummm. It's a little busy tonight. We are going to put you right beside the bar in the back. Despite the fact that there were 3 open tables in the front. Ummm. I said. We would like to sit up front. He obliged. "Thank you" we said. Unwary of what would happen in Chapters 2 through 4. Chapter TWO. After waiting at least 3 games without service. Thirsty. I approach the bar asking for service. The manager at the bar promptly assigns. Taya. (Spelling). To our table. I didn't carry credit cards that night but I did have a bevy of digital cards at the ready. Unfortunately I didn't have a physical card with me so she says we can pay at the end of the night with my digital card. Again. Thank you. "BUT DON'T WALK OUT ON ME. ". It wasn't a request. It was a pending accusation. Her last statement walking away. Interesting. Mind you. I have homes in two countries as well as here in the United States. But to Taya. I was a man who she felt she needed to threaten not to walk out on a $50 tab. Ok. As a side note I have gone through three passports and have learned from my numerous international travels that it is safer to travel with digital cards and cash. Which I had plenty of at the time since I am a man of significance. I showed it to my daunting waitress. But to her I was a prototype black male who will walk on their meaningless $50 tab. Hence the warning. Prototype is the key word in that last sentence. Enter and you will be categorized. Prototyped. JUST DONT WALK OUT ON ME. As if there would be some level of repercussions afterward. CHAPTER THREE. Not knowing that I was glancing in her direction, Taya then ceremoniously walked to the bar and gave her manager the middle finger many times for assigning her our table. Let me repeat. She gave her manager the middle finger. In public. In direct line view of my table. For assigning her our table. I reacted. I walked up to "Taya" and asked why me and my brother deserved the warning. Nothing meaningful in a response. Ok. Being the more mature person in this interaction I later apologized for my reaction to the perceived slight. This....Not knowing there was yet another chapter to come. CHAPTER FOUR. Despite the ridiculousness from the wait staff, we continued to play. It was an important experience for me and my brother since I am rarely at home in the United States and even rarer do we get to play pool together. Pool for my brother and me is part of our natural bond. But apparently that means little to the wait staff at QMaster Billiards. We continued to play and at one point the table next to us...who was celebrating a birthday party for a group of young women.. was paying their tab and congregated closely at the end of our table to discuss who would pay what portion of the bill. We were patient. But at a certain point, we needed to play pool. I had a ball land where I had to disturb the pondering group. They did not move despite the fact that was polite. I shot. Off. Never mind. It's a game and we will respect this group. Next, my brother had a legitimate pool shot that also required him to aim from the midst of the established group of pondering young payers. Again. They did not move despite us politely asking them to move. Most pool players respect the courtesy of pool players trying to land their next shot. Not here at QMaster Billiards with this burly waitress and her pondering purchasers. Instead of asking the group to politely move to the side to let us continue the game , the burly waitress yelled at my brother telling him he would have to wait until they finish the transaction. The last word of her outburst was: "SIR." Using the word as a slur. At that point. We clearly understood that we as two black men were not wanted at all QMaster Billiards. It was obvious based on the four unexpected but important chapters of our experience. I am not advising the people of color not go to QMaster Billiards in Virginia Beach. I am advising you to beware that you are not wanted. There is a clear collective effort to relegate us to a lesser experience. THIS IS NOT AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT READILY WELCOMES YOU. Please don't let my experience result in you not patronizing this business. But. Beware. Tip the staff. IF DESERVED. But based on the welcome that we received here, I am certain that we are not the first to have had an experience like this. GOOD LUCK AND BE AWARE. read more

The place is huge and on a normal day isn't packed so you should be able to walk in and grab a table. Friday and Saturday nights are usually busy and can get packed pretty quickly around 9pm and up. Very clean establishment and you can tell just by walking in that it is a traditional pool hall with a lot of billiard lore on the walls. Hung out here for a couple of hours with my brother, drinking sweet tea (they were out of O'Douls) and shooting pool. In the middle of the afternoon, even on a weekend, it was quiet and we were undisturbed with no one at the tables next to us. The table was clean and there were no issues with play. 16 balls, all perfect. Cue sticks, good. Bridge, good. Pockets, all working. Bathroom, clean enough. I literally have nothing to complain about. There are at least two separate rooms - one is smoking and one is non-smoking. They're not perfectly air tight but it was good enough for me. Rude and unprofessional all around, from the cashier to the owner, Gary. When you call, especially when Al answers, they make you feel unimportant and as if you're inconveniencing them. They don't offer to take a message, instead they direct you to the internet to send an email. Even then they never contact you. I have left multiple messages, sent multiple emails, spoken too many times with employees who clearly have no care or concern to pass along your message IF, IF, IF they even take a message! EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. They're not what they used to be at all whatsoever, so my crew and I will now be finding a kinder, more involved in the customer, location. The waitress was nice as well as the lady who escorted me to my table and the manager I believe it was who rung me in. This is one of the iconic pool halls in the US. If you are a real pool player, this is where you go. Here you will find major pool tournaments, multiple national and in-house leagues, weekly tournaments, money games, and more. There are 72 tables, a mix of 8 and 9 foot. They even have a heated 10 foot billiards table. The place is split in half, one side is smoking, the other side not. So if you want to avoid the smell you can. Its has a full bar and restaurant. The menu is very large for a pool hall, but the food is decent. The service has always been great. The tournament room tables are in excellent condition. The rest of the tables get lots of use, so the maintenance is a bit behind. You will find stains on the tables, bent rack holders, etc. All the typical problems you would find in a pool hall open to the public. With 72 tables, Im sure its hard to keep up on maintenance. The only negative is the place is showing its age. According to the website, it was open in 1972 and it looks like it. The place would greatly benefit from a remodelling. So I love this place, however. It's too damn hot I'm the green room and shalom rooms. Thinking about stopping league during summer. After working on the heat all day who wants to stand around and sweat all night. And have you ever tried shooting pool when it's all hot and sticky, worst! For Christ sake insulate between the walls and glass store front and upgrade them AC's. And while you are at it, can we get some more chairs on the nine footers for Wednesday night, yes of 8 with only 3 or 4 chairs per table. Only makes the heat worse when packed in like sardines. This location is the largest pool hall in the area. They have regulation size tables as well as regular size tables. Friday was $5 all night for ladies and $10 for guys - unlimited games. That is a great deal. They have roving waiters but I didn't eat anything. My friends said the food was great. Reasonable prices on everything. They also have a pro shop. This place was my stomping grounds back in the day during my college years. I love that they have many new promotions to get people coming here. I liked that back in the day not a lot of people came out here. The place hasn't changed much but they offer a lot of good promotions to take advantage of. For ladies night it's free Friday's and Saturday after 6pm, and for military, government officials play free all day in Tuesday's. I like that if you order food and if u spend up to a certain amount you basically get to play one hour of pool free. It's not for people who are anal about the cigarette smoke because at this establishment there is a smoking an nonsmoking area. It still has the same smell that they used to have years ago but certainly has improved since I last came here back in 2005. Since people are not smoking as much or have turned to e-cigarettes the pool hall smell isn't as bad. People are still allowed to smoke here so I wouldn't recommend it for u to bring your young kids to be receiving second hand smoke. But hey.. Some people don't mind. They do have Sunday for family days if u have kids. Ages 6-15 year olds are free. I saw one child at the pool hall today. That was rare back when I used to go. I don't ever recall seeing people bringing their kids. But the business is trying to cater to every age group now. Even for high school students they have discounts. I hope one day they make a smoking room for people and maybe do some newer renovations to the place, like add a filtration systems that will lighten the smell of the smoke in the air. It's still good to know this place is still alive and that they are advertising promotions on groupon to get people to their establishments. Our waitress was Stephanie and she was nice and sweet. I had to order my loaded fries that I used to always get with my favorite side car drink. It's still the same typical bar food that I loved to eat while having a few drinks. Smooth little spot in the cut! Really can't go wrong. Chillin with the homies, check. Little date or something, check. Just kicking it just cause, check. Qs has a nice vibe to it. Affordable but what's even cooler is the free nights for the ladies (I think it's on weekends). Surprisingly the DJ/ jukebox is as diverse as they come. The crowd ranges in age but most people there are trying to chill really. I noticed a mix between locals, military, and college students. Food is good enough, drink prices are too, and if you looking to catch a game then you'd like being here as well. Only con is you may catch a chatty server but I think you're shooting 1/3 with that.
