Q Theatre looks deceptively boring from the outside, but as soon as I stepped inside I was impressed with the industrial/glam interior and the warm atmosphere. You can pop in to pick up tickets from the Q box office, for a coffee or nightcap from the bar, and relax on the plush sofas and massive leather armchairs.
In terms of the performance venues, Q is bigger than it looks, and in addition to the main auditorium there's a rehearsal space, and two other flexible spaces upstairs for conferences, parties, or performances. In particular, the space called Loft has incredible floor-to-ceiling windows along one wall and is wonderfully atmospheric, with great natural light.
The acts Q presents are generally highly professional, off-beat, experiemental, and exciting, and it's the kind of place where I'm happy to take a gamble and watch something I know nothing about. read more
