I absolutely LOVE this place! After attending a Yelp event here, I decided to join a recreational league with some fellow Yelpers + run club friends and we are having so much fun!! This is an indoor BEACH volleyball facility - something I've never seen anywhere else. While playing on the sand does make it a bit more difficult, it also makes the games more fun because you can dive for the ball without fear of getting hurt like you might on a concrete court. The leagues last 7 weeks + 1 week for playoffs. We are currently finished with 3/7 weeks so far and it's been an absolute blast! The recreational league (which is what my team is doing) is 6 players against 6 players. They also have intermediate leagues that are 4 against 4 for those who are experienced in volleyball. My team, however, is mainly a bunch of amateurs (plus 1 amazing woman who played in college) and we are all just learning and trying our best! You can join a league one of two ways - either gather 6-10 people together to form a team, or you can sign up as a "free agent" and QBK will assign you to a team. The latter is easiest if you aren't able to find a bunch of people who want to commit to a league. The games will always be on the same day each week (we chose Thursdays but there was also an option for Tuesdays for the spring league) but the times will fluctuate. Game times range between 6pm to 9pm start times and last for 1 hour. When playing, you'll play 3 games total, each ending when one team hits 21 points. Even if the other team wins the first two games, you still play the 3rd one as the number of games won each week goes into a running total which helps decide who goes to playoffs. Also, they have cameras up on each court and if there was a good play or epic moment, you can have someone run to "press the button" and it will save the last 30 seconds of the recording onto a app which you can download later. My team and I are always pressing the button, making sure to save the footage of hilarious wipeouts or epic moments when we score. The staff is so friendly and helpful! It's been nothing but great since the very beginning. My team and I are already talking about doing another league when this one ends because we are having soooo much fun! read more

Went to an event at QBK Sports, it was my first time there and I didn't even realize there was a beach volleyball facility in Queens. The facility is quite large, with about three full-size sand volleyball courts, plus a bar (I believe they also serve food), plenty of tables, TVs, and a few other games for entertainment. Our group met by some of the tables towards the far end of the space, and we were able to store our belongings in cubbies beside the tables. We started with a lesson/review of volleyball basics, which were great and led by Isa and Rashid, who made learning the basics approachable and fun. We did drills in pairs, took a short break, and then played a few full games. The QBK staff were wonderful, patient, and created a really welcoming environment. Highly recommend planning an event here, it is a fun, active experience and a great way to connect with others. Very happy I went and I look forward to coming back to QBK in the future. read more

Who says I'm a Yelp Elite? I am! Today I went here all by myself on a frigid and freezing Saturday afternoon to go to my thirteenth Yelp Elite Event feeling good. Super cool place!! I love how the instructors go over the basics step-by-step. Then we played a few friendly games. Some things for first-timers to know before you go: I recommend wearing pants/leggings as you might kneel and dive, you play barefoot (my feet were cold) so bring socks for afterwards, maybe even bring sandals/slides if you plan on being on and off the sand at the bar. PARKING: Actually super easy. Look on their website for a map where they show you the best street for parking. There were many open spots for a Saturday afternoon. I haven't played volleyball since middle school, so it was so fun bringing those memories back as adults! I took their free trial class. It was a group of 18 or so. We started off with warmups, followed by volleyball drills, and then a mock game where we passed the ball over the net in a typical volleyball game formation. Best of all, all of this was done in fake sand. And if you were worried like me at first, the sand comes off super easily and wasn't messy at all! Before we know it, class was over. The place was super chill, filled with students either playing in a league or in a class. There was even a bar inside. I came across this spot and was excited to reunite with some friends when I visiting back home for the holidays. My friends and I were unable to make it as one person in our group fell ill the morning of our reservation, and there is a 6-person minimum rule. We were offered to still come for our reservation to hopefully find someone who would take our 6th spot. We were uncomfortable with this, and then we were offered a free round of drinks, which can't be compared to how sick our friend was. I thought this establishment would be able to exempt the no refund policy due to medical circumstances out of our control. I asked for a full % credit when I would not be granted a refund. Instead, I was also offered 20% in credit, which was only $30 of our $150 reservation. Giving a star to the one front desk lady I spoke to that stayed really kind and respectful to me despite my requests/complaints and a star for a cool concept, but because of this experience, we no longer want to check this place out. Overall, the refund policy at this place is really strict, so something to just be aware of. read more

I've worked with 3 coaches at QBK and they were all terrific. Enthusiastic, patient, motivating, knowledgeable. Everyone at the front desk, on the phone or answering emails is amazingly helpful and polite. I haven't played volleyball since before Covid so I was a bit nervous but they made me (and everyone) feel very welcome As a former basketball coach myself, I really appreciated working with them. The classes are broken down very efficiently. Intro is the Volleyball 101 class, a great place to start. Beginner is when you've played a bit but are rusty. Intermediate is for when the rust has come off (note that there is a wider range of talent in the intermediate level). From the people I've played with so far, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I think it's truly a place that beginners to experts can have fun at. You can drop in and play when you want or, even better, join a league and play with a regular group (friends, co-workers or QBK will help you find a team like they did for me). First came here for a Yelp event and I couldn't wait to go back. I took the chance when they had another competition event with a Queens community group and it was just amazing as the first time. The space feels open and had 3 courts with great sand. It especially is great playing in the cooled courts when it's a NYC Summer outside. The people are great--the owner, Leon, and teacher, Kevin, were kind and welcoming. They hold tournaments, have membership plays, have camps/classes, and much more. There a generous amount of bench seating by the courts and additional seating upstairs. There's two sets of cornhole, a ping-pong table, a bar with drinks and snacks for purchase, and one of those punching machine games. In addition to the facility being quite clean, the bathrooms are neat (I thought it was very thoughtfulthat they had pads available for women, kudos!). By the entrance, there's cubbies for shoes and a feet-height faucet to wash off the sand after you're done. I couldn't believe I didn't find out about this place until recently, but I'm so glad I did! Highly recommend it and I can't wait to be back soon! read more

We've honestly all been waiting for so long!!! We were finally able to step foot into this facility today. It was everything we hoped for! 3 large sand courts, a lot of seating, great atmosphere. The owner, Leon is super friendly and an active listener for tips and concerns. This place isn't 100% up and running, but sofar it's great! The sand is very clean and great quality, the net is great quality as well! We felt welcomed even as beginners to sand volleyball and had an amazing time! We hope to become regulars! read more

QBK is an awesome, one of a kind place. There isn't another one like it in Queens or anywhere else in NYC for that matter. We came with 3rd and 4th grades in a school trip to this wonderful place. There were about 60 children, and the coaches were fantastic at engaging the children and teaching them the basics of beach volleyball. Such a fun activity and the children were so overjoyed to run and jump on the sand. Then they got or eat pizza at the picnic tables and play some ping pong abs stacking cups. We celebrated our daughters 12 birthday here and had the pleasure of working with Leon (the owner) and his assistant Abby. They helped plan the party with such ease and were super honest, extremely organized and upfront and reasonable with all fees etc. The host Vito was amazing and somehow made sure a big group of kids were always engaged and having fun. The pizza was hot, the drinks were nice and cold and the atmosphere was just super fun. Bartenders were great and even though the place was busy, the bathrooms were clean which is rare in places like this. I cant recommend this place enough for a birthday party. My guests loved it. I always really enjoy coming here the staff is so sweet. Today there was someone being very troublesome with our group. We were trying to play 4s instead of 2s during intermediate and asked if we can share the court and do half and half. We played one round of 4s with her and after we suggested they play 2s while we sit out, the woman complained to the staff and and said one of our players wasn't good enough for intermediate and wanted to kick us off the court for the remainder of the session! We got off just to appease her andShin and Sebastian handled it very professionally and allowed us to have extra time when the session was over so we can play. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood! I am by no means an experienced volleyball player, but am always looking for a fun way to get a good workout in a group environment. I went to one of the open plays and was blown away by the space and staff. The facility is clean and spacious, with a full bar and food menu (I tried the wings and salad and both were delicious). I'm so glad i discovered QBK! I just started playing volleyball early this year, through Volo, a different league org. Once I was hooked on volleyball, I was looking for somewhere to practice and learn. I started going to QBK 3 hour drop in sessions, which are a great hourly deal at $15 per hour (less with discount codes!). Having 3 hours to play is so much better than waiting 2hrs for a turn at the public courts or only being allowed to play your league game and then clear out. My boyfriend got me a beginner class at QBK for my birthday (x2 for 6w) and it has been amazing! The instructor Kevin is a master and a great teacher, I think my play has improved after just a few classes. The owner Leon is really helpful, flexible and accommodating, and wants to help everyone get what they want out of their experience. I plan on joining an intermediate league this summer - I think it's a way better deal (more/better play per $ paid) than Volo, etc. read more

My 13 year old attended Spring Break Camp and loved it! She had no prior volleyball experience, but said it didn't matter because Coach Kevin kept things interesting and fun the whole time. When I signed her up, I was just excited for her to try something new. I hadn't looked at any photos on the website, so when I entered the space, I was very impressed, not only by the real beach courts, but also the extra area to hangout, watch and enjoy.
