There were two employees behind the counter. Both of them walked past me at least half a dozen times seemingly avoiding eye contact while they went about their tasks. The younger one, a girl who couldn't have been older than 20, was facing me, slicing sandwiches inside the case. The older lady put some deli meat away and then she was walking back and forth over and over looking like she was looking for something to do, anything but actually help the customer standing there trying to get some assistance. I waited patiently for several minutes, and in that time neither deli employee so much as acknowledged me. Not one word. And there is no way they didn't see me. I'm 6 feet tall and I have never felt so invisible. My daughter didn't get her seafood salad and left the store in tears. Abominable customer service.

The Starbucks gals were all smiles and even looked for me to give me my wrap. The main lines were LONG. I was only purchasing a fruit cup from fresh cut produce, so I went to floral. These ladies are having their busiest day of the year and the older lady there, (I believe her bame was Kathy?) said she can ring me up! That was so nice her, going above and beyond! As for their fresh cut, I worked at a Safeway doing fresh cut for a year. I know how it can be to pick all the good berries without mold, or get a bad shipment of berries with mold. Many fresh cuts i've bought from with berries will have some mold on them. However, this Safeway's fresh cut berry cups had FLAWLESS berries! No mold at all. So either their team is new, they know how to conveniently sort out the bad fruit, or got a good shipment! Glad I can eat the berries, especially in the dark, fully trusting that each one is in good condition. Whatever the cause, I was so impressed I had to come back for a berry cup after our weekend trip to Canada. Well done!!

Not only will you find the usual junk food specimens, but sundries, candles, bug spray, breakfast cereal, gum, twine, tennis balls, sodas, beer, wine, ice cream (both bars and tubs of Tillamook and Umqua), house hold cleaners, brushes, hygiene products, romance novels, ice, fishing equip, etc. Staff are super helpful and friendly. The kind of place you wish would stay around forever so that future generations can get a taste of that little neighborhood feel. What a corner shop experience truly means. Just outside the premises one will also find that rarest of historical devices, the last actual working phone booth known to Western civilization. I love places like this. It reminds me that no change can often be much better than change. And I wouldn't change a thing.

As you may know, a meal is NOT complete without dessert!! This "Mom and Pop" convenience store is nicer than most chain convenience stores that I have frequented. Harold's Corner Market was nice and clean inside. The merchandise was fully stocked and well-organized. Most importantly, the customer service was welcoming and courteous. After browsing, we found some ice cream bars to try. They seemed to be a locally made brand named Whidbey Island. Those ice cream bars were delicious!! Prices were reasonable too. Actually while browsing the store, it seemed that all the merchandise was fairly priced (even the gasoline). Even though they are located right next to the highway....I did not get the sense that prices would be considered "highway robbery". If I lived in this area, I'd be a regular for sure.

The gentleman at the checkout counter was also polite and friendly. They also have an ATM inside the store. Their prices were reasonable by convenience store standards, including their gas. I got $20 worth at $2.85/gallon of regular. I decided to give them a good Yelp also since they did not hassle me about being parked in front of the mini strip mall (which included their store) while eating, and composing the Yelp review for Superhawk Canopies. Kudos also to the rest of the strip mall businesses for the same reason. And therefore (see photo) I decided to give them all a shout out.

Not THE fanciest location but these two things put them so far ahead of the other stations near the highway I don't have cause to complain. And easily accessible from I-5. Works well for me!
